Shopify carrier calculated rates are extremely limited and for companies with a variety of products of all shapes and sizes it doesn't even come close to getting the job done. Depending on how complicated your shipping is, it can be tricky to get everything right, the system is very deep and it needs perfect data at every step to get it right.
