COD Guard is a Shopify App designed to reduce RTO losses and prevent fake Cash on Delivery orders through phone verification. It offers merchants the ability to set COD rules based on various factors and provides a dashboard to track blocked orders and verification rates. Running a clothing D2C brand without COD isn't realistic in India. But managing returns on COD orders was killing us—RTOs, wrong size guesses, "not as pictured" rejections, customers who just wanted free shipping. We were burning ₹40K-50K/month on returns alone. But the bigger win is the address validation. Half our RTOs were incomplete addresses or pincode mismatches that we only discovered after shipping. No dev work needed on our end. Numbers: In 6 weeks, our RTO rate dropped from 18% to 11%. That's not just feel-good—that's ₹35K back in our pocket monthly. Only downside: MSG91 integration took some back-and-forth, but support was responsive.
