Audeor review for Geolocation
Feb. 11, 2022
This app doesn’t make sense in the way it functions, which is unfortunate as we like the looks of it. We had hoped to find an app that could help us redirect visitors from our .com store to our local versions when applicable. The problem though is that the popup shows up regardless of if the customers visit the main URL or the local URL directly! Example A: Swedish customer visits our .com (English language) store. The popup shows up and suggests him to switch to our Swedish language version (.com/sv URL). This makes sense and is good for when a potential customer for instance clicks the link to our .com store in our Instagram bio. Example B: Swedish customer clicks our Swedish Facebook ad where we use our Swedish store (.com/sv URL) as landing page. The popup shows up and suggests him to switch to our Swedish language version (.com/sv URL), which is the same URL as the customer is already visiting! This is an unnecessary step that fills no other function than to bother the potential customer with a popup banner and then reload the same URL if they agree to “switch” to Swedish. How the app behaves in Example B doesn’t make any sense! It’s like if Amazon.com would show a popup for all American visitors and recommend them to switch to English language!
Hi there, Geolocation should only ever make a recommendation when the language or location is different to what the customer is visiting. If your Swedish customers are landing on audeor.com/sv, a recommendation will still pop up prompting them to switch to Swedish Krona, as your site's default is Euros. If your customers are viewing in Krona and Swedish language, and still getting a recommendation, please reach out to us and we will fix this for you!
