This app does not work, if you are trying to use it, dont even try, and waste your time because it wont work

I don't know if it's something I am not getting right. I installed the app, then goes to vmy website to give it a try on what customers will experience. Unfortunately when I choose a language, the only thing that changes is the theme language. Contents such as text, product titles etc still stays in English bwhich is my store default language. So I wonder how this app is of help to customers speaking other languages. Is there a way out?

It is not meant to be used with one of the translation apps that are compatible with Shopify's store languages feature. The app is not bad. However I would really like to have the option to position the selector on the header instead of the footer. Another thing that would be very nice to have is the automatic switch of currency according to the location of the customer instead of giving recommendation to change it. Would be great of those changes could be implied!
Hey Gain the Sleep, We do not add the selector in the header as it gets hidden on mobile which most visitors use. If you use the top bar or modal layout, most buyers will be able to easily switch currency. Automatically changing the currency based on the IP address of the buyer can lead to SEO issues. We follow the best practices set by Google by giving buyers a clear choice to buy in local currency. If you have any other queries, we would love to answer those. - Geolocation team

The recommendation isn't showing in the header, only the little selector button at the base of the page (kind of useless down there). Is it because I already have a header bar?

I would like to be able to place it in the Debut theme header. At the moment it sits awkwardly in the footer, bellow social media etc.
Hey Serici Tech, The new version of Debut theme has a native currency and language selector built in the footer. We do not support the selectors in the header as they get hidden on mobile. This is why we built recommendations in this app which are shown to buyers as a top bar or popup. - Geolocation team

If I have a multilingual site does the default text "Looks like you’re in United States. Change to USD $? Change" automatically translated based on the country.. for example, if it detects Italian would the above text be in italian?
Thanks for the review PowaPod. In case you have translated your site in to Italian with an app that supports the new Store languages section, then the Geolocation app will automatically display the text in Italin if the visitor's browser is set to Italian.

I cannot see the language selector again after the first time. My default language is traditional Chinese (hong kong) in my browser. I'm using iPhone for viewing.

I'm sure this will be a great app but I can't get it working because I think the code is conflicting with an old currency app I had previously installed. Any assistance you could provide is greatly appreciated.

Useful app. Works well from what I can see. Is customisable to an extent but would be great if you could use custom text.

It took several attempts before I was able to download the app. Once installed I found that it got the pricing U.S. vs Canadian wrong. Not happy with the app I uninstalled it. For some reason, it's still running in the background and all my pricing is now wrong. I can't get rid of it. That's what happens with a free app from Shopify. Can anyone help?? Joe
Hey Joe, Sorry about the issues you are facing with the Geolocation app. The app is not running on your store anymore. You are seeing wrong prices on your shop because your theme's in-built currency converter is not compatible with multi-currency for Shopify Payments. I would recommend you to turn off Currency selector in your theme. You can do this by going to Online Store > Themes > Customize > Theme Settings > Currency and then turn currency off there. You should be then able to add currency selector and GeoIP based recommendation by installing the Geolocation app. Let us know if you are still facing any issues and we will be happy to help. - Geolocation team

It's fine but it doesn't look so nice in the button of the site. It could be better integrated. Also i you have imessage businnes you can hit the button :-(

I had two shop languages just want to try it out how it works, I removed the chinese language and left with English one. But the selector at the bottom still display with 2 language options which shouldn't be, when I click chinese, it will end up going to a 404 page!

so far, this app works great for me. At least, it fits all my needs (give customers option to redirect instead of my code in custom.js). However, could we have more flexibility on modify this app in future. Such as, customize the location of selectors, since I want it inside my footer.

I really wanted a nice simple geolocation app to work with shopify payments. Unfortunately this one looks terrible on my store. The font size is fixed to 16px and there's no way for you to edit the code. Looks like it was designed by amatuers. Why do you make the app so ugly and un-customisable>?

Great app but would be better if the currency selector could be at the top of the page also. Now the only option is on the bottom of the page (sucks). Also would be better if the currency changer would change automatically without the need of pressing the button CHANGE.

However, we will keep your feedback in mind as we work on improving the app. Changing currency automatically can lead to challenges with SEO and running Google ads, so we follow the recommended practice of giving buyers the choice to switch to local currency. Nice to finally see this added as a free option on Shopify and not something I have to pay another $120 a year for. Overall it's working fine for me. If you're having problems with adding this app you might want to check your theme's changelog as you might have to update to the latest version of your theme. This was the case for me. It's a headache but worth it. I wish there was more customization for this app such as being able to change the wording used. Finally, it would be nice if there was an option available to have currency set automatically based on location rather than requiring a pop-up or header box asking the customer if this is something they want. Arrive to the site from the US and get US currency automatically; arrive to the site from Canada and get Canadian currency automatically.
