Mechanic

I would posit that this is very likely to be the BEST VALUE app on app store. And yes, I know it's not a free one. It's actually much better than the description here because it already has about 190 tasks ready to roll (including several I requested myself). I installed this a couple of weeks ago for two jobs; to tag customers based on the product type they ordered and to create and maintain a Recent Products Collection. It has done this easily and with idiot proof configuration options. Mechanic does SO much more. So many of the pre-written tasks seem to be really useful and replace a bunch of other apps that are out there in the app store. . Give me a while and I will set up some more tasks and provide another review but in the meantime this is my favourite app so far discovered. **Update 4 months later ** I cheekily requested several more tasks a couple of days ago and the wonderful support was highly responsive as before. They are clearly more than competent but also seem to genuinely care. They have superb communication skills and has cheerfully helped me out very quickly again, and then provided follow on support when I couldn't resolve a simple issue myself. Gawd they are good! One of the few firm who actually go the extra mile and deliver top quality service. I see there are now 235 tasks prebuilt and I'm slightly embarrassed at what a low price I am paying for all this functionality and support - and at what good value this is, especially when compared to so many other apps here. I've just counted up the tasks I am running and it's around 20. Rather more than the original two I had bought the app for! If I was a developer instead of a merchant, I expect I'd be getting even more from it. I recognise this is a rather gushing review: it's not normally my style - but credit where credit's due! Thank you so much to Isaac and team. You deserve great success. Kudos to you! :)

Really cool app because it saves us time. Support has been very helpful and quick to reply as well. No complaints :)

I'm really happy with this app so far. I am using it to do a bunch of different tasks. E.g. email customers about outstanding order payments. Send them email when an order is taking too long and so forth. It's not saving me any money yet on my other apps as it doesn't quite do what they do. But hopefully it will in the future.

Mechanic helped us automate capturing payments. For internal fulfillment reasons, we needed to turn off auto-capture of payments until the end of each day. Rather than having to go in and manually do it at the end of each day, Mechanic allows us to capture expedited shipments immediately and everything else just before midnight each day. It solved our problem. I'm looking forward to using it for other tasks too. Isaac was super helpful. He created multiple scripts for our specific needs in about a day.

Fantastic tool, lots of pre-built tasks to get you started and if you get a little stuck with customing a task the support from the team is second to none.

Great app and great support from the team. Helped us do all those little things that cannot be done easily in Shopify. When a task was not on the list the team created one for us in 24 hours. This is a must-have application for all Shopify owners. Cannot recommend enough.

We have been using this app to solve many tasks over the past few months. Like sending auto address update email to our suppliers if we amend the address in Shopify (this used to be manual) and many more tasks. Issac's is very responsive to creating tasks to fit your needs and is always thinking of ways to help users. I hope he keeps up the great customer service and this doesn't fall at any points, because that's what it's all about and why people use his service. The app is well worth the money and i hope the app stays well maintained and new tasks added all the time. I use Mechanic to do TONS of different tasks. Simple things like sending out emails when new customers sign up at my store or sending out customized emails when orders are placed. Also advanced things like auto populating customer information (notes, tags, shipping addresses, etc.) based off of selections made during the customer registration process. Copying notes and tags from customer records to the orders those customers place. And more! Issac is probably one of the best things about this app. He is always there to answer questions, or help me write a custom task to accomplish what I'm trying to do. Customer support is out of this world!! Great app, great support, would give 10 starts if possible.

I use it to automate product modification and it works exactly how I wanted it. I could easily manage to make my own code from template. I plan to use it for many more things in the future. I definitely recommend it! Great app!

Exceptional app that helps in extending shopify functionalities. Issac is diligent and very helpful in support. Issac is responsive and very open to feedback. super powerful app that we use for various repetitive tasks to keep our backend organized, e.g. we used a preorder app before and it was a nightmare going back and forth adding/removing tags in shopify + toggling products on/off within the app itself! thanks to mechanic's flexibility in creating tasks we could cancel various other apps and safe money. highly recommended!

I've been using Mechanic to push our inventory quantities to a shared Google Sheet. From there I use those numbers to calculate reorder levels and monitor all of our inventory without having to be in Shopify. Isaac was very helpful in setting it up; I'm excited to see what else Mechanic can do for our store. If you are looking to automate nearly anything in your store, Mechanic is your app.

Mechanic is amazing and very powerful. Isaac provides amazing support and is always there to help. He's written quite a few tasks to start off with, and he's offered to write one specifically for my use case but if you have any sort of experience in programming writing your own tasks is a breeze and has amazing potential. I can't recommend this enough if you're looking to automate anything and it seems like none of the apps on the market were made for what you're trying to do.

Amazing Automation, Auto Tag my Customers by Domain on creation with their Discount tag, so they automatically see the appropriate Pricing. Isaac is amazing, nothing too hard, and very responsive. Set it up exactly how I needed it, so my staff can use it, simple as. Nothing else can do this. Totally Amazing.

This app might as well be called 'sonic screwdriver', it is so versatile and helps us do what we want. Without this app, we'd have to use a lot of other different apps that don't interact well with each other and have lots of manual steps and workarounds. With the Mechanic app, we can set up a rule that when X happens we need data Y to be moved to location Z while adding A, B, and C. This lets us fine-tune our workflows on the admin end (saving staff time) and reduce unnecessary delays/steps for our customers (making it easier for them to shop). For example, we require our customers to create an account to make a purchase, but the name that they enter in the account creation process doesn't automatically populate into the order form, so they have to enter it again. Isaac set up a task for us that lets us have the customer enter their name once and Mechanic auto-populates the name in the other locations. We also use Isaac's app Locksmith, which has a feature where the customer can enter a unique, single-use passcode (which they get from elsewhere). A Mechanic task allows us to store the passcode in the customer's file in case they lose it. And we have some reports that need to be in very specific formats for other services we use. Rather than downloading the raw data from Shopify and manipulating it in Excel before uploading to the other service, Isaac was able to work with us to not only get our store to spit out the report already in the correct format, but to upload it to the service as well! The value we've gotten out of this app will allow our staff to focus on improving the customer experience instead of performing repeated time-consuming tasks. Whenever I reach a roadblock trying to figure out how to get our store to do something, I reach out to Isaac and he's always got a solution!

Isaac from Mechanic has really given us a sublime service. He put together an automatic task tailored to our needs. The app has given our company much more freedom. I am very happy with his service and patience. We experienced a few small hiccups with the app, but Isaac immediately solved them. I think the price of 29$ per month is a little steep, but I am willing to pay for it, because of the service and freedom it gives us every day.
