Key Product Options, Variants

We were long-time users of Bold Product Options and later SC Product Options. When we were notified that SC Product Options was being discontinued, we were encouraged to migrate to Keystone Product Options. Unfortunately, the migration has been extremely frustrating. SC Product Options works perfectly with our custom Shopify theme, but Keystone does not. We've spent many hours with our own developers and Keystone support trying to resolve compatibility issues, yet the problems remain. The most disappointing part has been the endless finger-pointing between the app and our theme. The primary recommendation we've received is to install Shopify's default Dawn theme to confirm that Keystone works there. While that may be a useful troubleshooting step, it's not a practical solution for an established ecommerce business doing over $10 million in annual sales with a customized storefront. Very few successful online retailers operate on an out-of-the-box theme. At this point, we've invested a significant amount of developer time without achieving a working solution, and we're now evaluating other product options apps instead of continuing with Keystone. If your store uses a customized Shopify theme, I would strongly recommend thoroughly testing Keystone before committing to the migration.

I'm reverting back to SCPO since this app does not support listing the product options separately at checkout. If can only bulk up the price of the existing product.

We are long time Bold, then SC Product Options app users (by this same company). When I was concerned about the migration to this, their new app, they gave me the white-glove-treatment. They took care of each detail and worked out any issue very quickly. Their support is quick and very capable. Still on the fence. I did the migration and played around in the admin and it still looked nothing like my current SCPO set up. The set up is also not as straightforward and easy like it claims and when I activated the Keystone app trying to make it close to what I had, it did not look good at all and I had to hide the app option on my product pages. The customization options in admin are not enough and changing text size, whether you want it bold or not and making color changes would have to be done in the theme file. I may need to look to a different company once SCPO stops working. I don't like feeling pressured to upgrade and migrate if SCPO is working just fine. There is also no word if SCPO is going to disappear one day and if that is the reason why they want us to migrate. If that's the case, be transparent so people can make an informed decision for their company whether they should stay or go elsewhere. :( it's very stressful as it is having to further modify a finished website with no reasons or explanations given.

Was not as easy to install as the Migration Guide indicated. Several steps were not as described, and then I found out I had a Shopify 1.0 Theme. I tried following the instructions for Legacy themes. Installing the Keystone code was ok, but there were no instructions about removing the SC Product Options code, which I had been using. I basically had to give up on my old Theme that I really liked and had a great deal of personalization on and switch to a new Shopify 2.0 Theme, so that I could add the "app block" into the theme. So, it took over 2 hours instead of 10 minutes and I am still not done. I have the core of my store up and running (I hope), but have a lot of fine tuning left to do. Update - 6/26/26 Their support team did reach out to me afterwards and offered to help with removing the old code. I had already switched over to the new theme and had decided to keep it since it was a more up to date theme and easier to use. However, another issue came up with certain payment options not functioning well with the app and they offered to help get that sorted out. That saved me a bit of time since I am not overly familiar with coding and that end of things.

Very responsive and they work fast to get you what you want and need from their product.

The legacy SC Product Options have been the most important and indispensable part of every single product page of my store. The additional profit from this app was roughly 100 times its cost. No, I am not kidding. So when the new Keystone Production Options came out I wanted to migrate on the spot. The migration was straightforward but wanting to change a few other things on the product page I messed up my theme and the checkout did not work. Having had forgotten to back-up my theme I turned to Keystone for help in panic. Ejub responded within minutes and Ahmed fixed the problem overnight. I cannot praise the app, the service and the team behind it enough. Thank you guys so much! Markus

My store relies heavily on product options and I was quite afraid to make the switch from SCPO and mess anything up. I had SCPO for about 10 years and feared the day I would have to find another options app...... So, I decided I had to do it and went for it. The import went fine, it was the click of a button. I added the block to the product page and the new menus showed up just like that. The old menus are not affected while you are importing and testing, do not worry. You will just see a duplicate set of the old SCPO menus below the new Keystone menus, until you uninstall the old SCPO app when you are done testing. Support seems great thus far.... the team is working with me as I type this, to fix a bug or two.... I have had this app less than one day and I can already say that I like it far more than the old app and I'm confident in the support. Thank you.

I had the old product builder for 10 years plus. It was always a bit glitchy, how ever I only used it for 1 items and the newer app was cost prohibitive. Especially with how much effort had to go into the previous builder. However this one has been a dream, so easy that in the 3 days I have had it, I have built 4 other items for the website, it's not glitchy and is very user friendly. Hightly recommend.
