Compared to other apps this app offers only basic functions. After initial installation several bugs showed up and needed big efforts and a lot of time on our side until they were finally fixed. Some problems still not fixed or attributed to Shopify limitations, even though these have been fixed in other apps (e.g. calculation of transport insurance even for self-collection). New features promised (e.g. claim portal), but still months later were not realized. Support only with big delays (simple message after more than one week still not yet answered). Update: Having used the app as paying customers for months now, we unfortunately have to revise our review. The support is appalling. You either receive no response to legitimate bug reports, or a reply only months later. The app has several serious flaws (to just mention the most important ones): - Transport insurance is occasionally charged twice in the shopping basket. This issue has not been resolved for months, despite claims of a bug fix. - VAT is not calculated correctly on transport insurance. As a result, the app exposes shop operators to potential criminal liability from the tax authorities. We highlighted this issue months ago, but the app developer has never responded. - Previously, transport insurance could be restricted to B2B; with the latest update to the app, this important feature has been removed. Consequently, the app also leads to unlawful conduct in this regard, as transport insurance is also offered to B2C customers, which is prohibited in the EU. Here too, the app developer is taking no action. There are excellent alternative apps for transport insurance here on Shopify from reputable developers. Unfortunately, the Sam Shipping Protection app only makes a good impression at first glance. The functionality is poor, and the service is either disastrous or non-existent. The errors result in app users ending up with shops that are in breach of the law, thereby making themselves liable to prosecution. Update2: Presumably, the developer (Wilson) programmed the app using artificial intelligence, as there is hardly any other way to explain the numerous, serious bugs. If you write to customer support, you typically receive no response at all. Usually, only after the third enquiry – and more than a week later – do you receive a brief message stating that they will look into the problem. They then ask for clarification on obvious points that had already been explained in detail previously. Even the most basic functions failed to work right up to the end. For example, on an order totalling over 10,000 euros, no transport insurance was charged at all, even though everything had been set up correctly. However, as the SAM Shipping Protection app showed our customer that they had taken out transport insurance, the customers insisted on compensation for their transport damage. The problem had still not been resolved weeks after we’d reported it to support, and it kept recurring. The app has therefore caused us considerable financial loss. We’ve taken the necessary action and finally uninstalled the app, and can only warn every business owner against using it.
