i uninstalled the day i paid to get my store back up and they still tried to charge me i need my refund...
We completely understand your concern about this charge. To clarify: once your store is reopened, Shopify automatically issues all outstanding and pending invoices from the apps you were using. These charges are handled automatically by Shopify rather than by individual app developers. We've sent you an email explaining exactly how this bill works so we can support you in the best way possible. Please take a moment to review it, and feel free to reach out to us anytime you need further assistance. Best regards!
Customer support person named "Tanie" is quite unfriendly, dont really appreciate it. by paying almost $100/mo for the app, i expect better attitude and service
We sincerely apologize for this experience — you absolutely deserve better service. Our team has reviewed the conversation and taken internal action with our agents to prevent similar misunderstandings in the future. Thank you for your feedback, and we are committed to doing better.
The Logic Issue: If you have multiple collaborators or influencers (e.g., Collaborator A is linked to SKU 1, and Collaborator B provides a coupon for SKU 2), this app CANNOT handle them in a single order. Their system forced the entire order’s commission to only ONE person, completely ignoring the "Product Connection" I set up for other SKUs. In my case, even though a product was hard-linked to a specific partner, a simple coupon used for a different product in the same cart wiped out their credit. The Support/Attitude: When I reported this as a logic flaw, the support team’s response was incredibly arrogant. They claimed they had "never heard of this request" and refused to fix this fundamental data integrity issue unless I paid for "expensive customization." They ignore the fact that as a Pro Plan subscriber, I expect accurate attribution—it’s the core purpose of an affiliate app! Conclusion: This app is only suitable for very small, simple stores with only one influencer per customer. If you are a professional merchant with multiple SKUs and various influencer partnerships, STAY AWAY. Their "one-order-one-owner" logic will cause you to lose data and damage trust with your collaborators. They care more about charging customization fees than fixing their product's basic logic.
Thank you for sharing the details of your case. At the moment, our tracking logic on the production version is shared across all of our users, so we aren't able to change it individually to match this specific need. That said, we're glad to offer a custom solution on our dedicated server — this is available with the Enterprise plan along with a one-time customization fee, and it's a viable path we can support you with. Whatever you decide, we fully respect your choice. Wishing you great success!
This has to be one of the worst and most frustrating Customer Service I have ever had to deal with. After speaking with Stark and Lina, it is clear they value nothing more than money. After uninstalling the app several months ago, it has still continued to charge us. Even when speaking to them, they provided no solution as they said "I cannot provide proof of uninstalling the app"... Pathetic
Thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry to hear about your experience. We've carefully reviewed your case: both Shopify Billing and our app logs show no record of an uninstall from four months ago, and Shopify has confirmed the same. Even so, as a goodwill gesture, we proactively refunded two months of fees for you. For the sake of fairness and accuracy, we're only able to refund charges that are supported by Shopify's billing and uninstall history. We truly appreciate your understanding. All the best!
Scam app - install it and next thing if you want any feature at all you have to pay far more than $30 a month! What a Joke!
Thank you for your feedback. We'd like to clarify to avoid any misunderstanding: UpPromote includes a Free plan with all the essential features you need to launch an affiliate program, at no cost. If you'd like help with setup or have any questions, we're always here and happy to assist. We'd truly welcome the chance to work with you!
What a scam this is! We never used the app, and even uninstalled it, and are STILL being charged a hefty monthly fee every month with no way of cancellation. We are now in contact with Shopify Support to try to find a solution and a refund. What a hassle!
Thank you for sharing, and we're truly sorry for the confusion. This is actually a point many users find easy to misunderstand: your Shopify store's billing cycle and each app's own billing cycle are different. Every month, Shopify groups the invoices from all your apps onto the same day, so you may still see a charge from an app you've uninstalled if that app's cycle started before you removed it. This applies to most apps on the Shopify App Store, not just UpPromote. To cancel, you can either downgrade to the Free plan or uninstall the app. Please reach out to us at [email protected] so we can help you resolve this completely.
Cant do that much without paying :(
We're sorry for the inconvenience earlier. The maintenance has now been completed, so you should be able to use the app normally again. If you come across any further issues, please let us know and we'll be glad to help. Cheers!
Customer support doesn't have any experience on how affiliate codes work and answer a google ads detection question. If you are going to offer a feature of detecting google ads, you should have some resources and an educated support team to answer my questions. NOT asking me to ask an affiliate that will deny any claim of using google ads. Do better.
Terrible UX experience. Not mobile user friendly. Asked the dev team to help, they completely messed up our store pages ( eg: privacy policy, FAQ's, ect ). They were showing the sign up form, and when disabled, completely DELETED ALL INFORMATION FROM THESE PAGES. Absolutely outraged. Deleting app. Never again.
Thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry about this experience. While we weren't able to pinpoint the exact root cause of the issue, our support team went ahead and fixed it directly in your theme code for you. We're always ready to work alongside you if you'd like to look into it further. Whichever affiliate marketing solution you choose, we respect your decision and wish your business all the best!
Opened half a year did not receive an order, and can never find customer service
Hi there. On checking, we can see that you had reached us via in-app chat before. We also noticed that no affiliate appears to have been approved yet, which means there wouldn't have been any sales generated from them — this may be the root of the situation you experienced. We've sent you a follow-up email with detailed information to help you resolve this. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Cheers!
Not only is the description of this product, incredibly misleading, it’s also incredibly hard to use, and on top of it their customer service is absolute trash
We can not open the app now
Hi there. We've sent you a follow-up email, so please take a look so we can help you troubleshoot the issue. We look forward to supporting you!
It says the installation is free, but when you install the app. They provide you 14-day free trial. Once the trial is ended, they don't discontinue. They charged you automatically and said it's based on Shopify rules. You need to check your plan description on this page and be really careful!! It's a trap. Really shame on you guys. You stole my money and refuse a refund.
Thank you for your feedback. We'd like to clarify to avoid any misunderstanding: UpPromote offers a Free plan that you can use for as long as you like. If you choose a paid plan, the billing cycle begins as soon as the trial period ends — a model that's quite common among apps. For anyone who forgets to cancel within the first few days, we're always happy to offer a refund. We value transparency, so please don't hesitate to reach out to us for support whenever you need it!
its too expensive.. 90 bucks for this isn't really worth it.
We installed this app hoping it would provide the tools we needed, but the features were limited and didn’t meet our expectations. The app feels unfinished for a platform that claims to be all-in-one. Customization is minimal, reporting tools are basic, and there's poor support. Automation is limited, making management more manual than expected. It might work for beginners, but it’s not suitable for growing or global businesses. Disappointed overall and we can’t recommend this app.
We recently deleted this app after experiencing too many issues with scammers trying to claim commissions on sales that were not legitimately theirs. The most recent case involved a customer who received a 50% discount code from us as part of a product exchange. Somehow, when the sale came through using the unique, one-time-use code, it still got picked up as an affiliate sale — how this happened is unclear, but it's not our responsibility to investigate or solve. Be very cautious if you're considering this app!
Paid for a year subscription and ended our affiliate program early. This app has plenty of bugs and the major one is that the PayPal integration is broken so all payments have to be made manually. I removed the app after 6 months and this company is refusing to even offer a partial refund. Stay away from them as their customer support is awful and the app is full of bugs. You can do the same exact thing that this app does for free with Shopify collabs.
We're sorry to hear about your experience and would like to clarify a few things in a constructive way. (1) Our agent did not refuse your refund request — he simply asked for a billing screenshot in line with our policy. You are eligible for a partial refund, and we're ready to process it. (2) Regarding the PayPal integration, we found no record of it being reported to us; this kind of issue is often tied to PayPal account approval rather than the app itself, and we'd love the chance to troubleshoot it further with you. (3) If you could share the specific bugs you encountered, we'll prioritize resolving them as quickly as possible. We've sent you a follow-up email and look forward to hearing from you.
The app, unfortunately, isn't working as it should. When affiliates create a link and share it on Instagram, the Instagram browser strips out the affiliate slug at the end, leaving only the raw URL. As a result, the sales go through, but the app fails to attribute them to the correct affiliate. This leads to affiliates approaching me with concerns like, "Hey, I don’t see the sale my friend made." They then have to provide proof of purchase, which is frustrating for everyone involved. When I reached out to support about this issue, instead of escalating it to their developers, they suggested a workaround—making every affiliate a "forever affiliate." This isn’t a solution for us. "Forever affiliate" means that once a customer buys a product through an affiliate, all future orders from that customer will always be attributed to that affiliate. This approach doesn't address the core issue, which is the app's failure to handle URL attribution properly. Furthermore, the app doesn't allow for a straightforward payout process unless I set up PayPal in developer mode, which is more complicated than it sounds. It requires creating a business PayPal account, entering developer mode, and configuring several risky settings. It’s far from a plug-and-play experience. The affiliate portal itself is also very basic and lacks a professional look. Given the app's $99/month price, this is quite disappointing. At most, it seems worth around $15/month. I've found a competitor app that is far more reasonably priced and doesn’t have the Instagram issue. With this app, affiliates can share custom links via Instagram DM or in their bio without the link being auto-converted. To be honest, just because an app has lots of high-star reviews doesn't necessarily mean it's the best option. Often, those with fewer 5-star reviews perform better because they are more motivated to improve. After my conversation with the support representative ended without a resolution and no escalation to higher support, they sent me a dancing cat GIF, which felt unprofessional and mocking. When dealing with customer service, if you can’t help a customer, sending a GIF like that is not appropriate. Management should monitor these interactions to ensure a higher quality of customer service.
This is Stark from the UpPromote support team. We're sorry that things didn't work out as expected. After investigating thoroughly, we found the issue may be linked to either a custom configuration in your theme or a third-party localization/currency-switcher app on your store — with that setup, almost any affiliate app would struggle to function properly. We'd love to help you resolve it and have sent you a follow-up email, so please check it when convenient. Regarding the "dancing cat GIF" you mentioned receiving from our agent, we carefully reviewed the entire conversation history and couldn't find any instance of a GIF or any inappropriate communication from our team. We always aim to provide professional and helpful support, so we hope we can clear up any misunderstanding here. Please feel free to reach out with any further details.
MISLEADING APP DESCRIPTION After being assured that UpPromote included a referral feature I installed the app and started setting it up. After 25 years as an online marketing consultant to companies in 40+ countries, I understand the clear distinction between an AFFILIATE and a REFERRAL APP: A referral app provides once-off rewards to existing customers for introducing new customers - if the new customer places an order then a reward or commission is granted to both parties ON THE FIRST ORDER ONLY. An affiliate app may provide a once-off reward new customers introduced by the affiliate, but the affiliate continues to earn rewards (normally a commission) on all that new customer's purchases for a fixed period or indefinitely. Because Referral Rewards are only paid out once, they can be very large 9even loss-making) as they only happen once and are regarded as the cost of acquiring the new customer. Having signed up for a $29/mo paid UpPromote plan I discovered that the "Referral" program they were providing only allowed rewards that repeated on all future purchase by the new client. This is DISHONEST MARKETING - that is not a referral program but rather an affiliate program. I queried this and they demanded I triple my monthly payment to $89 to enable a referral program with once-off rewards. Then the company claimed that as their customers often incorrectly referred to an affiliate program as a referral program, they felt justified in also incorrectly labeling their $29 plan as a referral program. I have over the years used dozens of both affiliate and referral apps and was delighted to find a combined app, but BEWARE - this company is being dishonest (and IMHO perhaps fraudulent in their marketing claims. I lost faith in this company and no longer trust them or want to do business with them and am now uninstalling UpPromote from my Shopify store. Now the company is asking for a meeting - I wasted so many hours setting the app up and testing it to find it did not do what they promised that am not inclined to waste more time teaching them what it should do.
This is Stark from the UpPromote support team. We understand you're upset that our logic didn't fit your needs. We'd like to clarify that we never asked you to upgrade for a "once-off" feature, as we don't currently offer that feature. That said, we really appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Our team would love to have a meeting to hear more about your perspective on Customer referral — it would be very helpful for our future improvements. We've sent you an email, so please check it out whenever you have time. All the best!
