Waste of time.

I genuinely didn’t want to leave a negative review, but this experience has left me no choice. I installed the app on November 6th to block bot traffic from China using VPNs—specifically from the US and Seychelles. Initially, everything seemed to work fine. However, by November 9th, I noticed Seychelles appearing in my abandoned checkouts, which was strange given that I had blocked the country. All other blocked countries were showing as successfully blocked, except for Seychelles. I contacted support immediately. A developer responded, explaining, "we are actively investigating an issue on our end where blocked visitors are indeed getting blocked, but their abandoned checkout is still getting mistakenly logged by Shopify as an abandoned checkout because they are still at checkout, getting blocked. We are actively working on a fix that should be deployed shortly for that problem." The response did not make much sense to me since all other blocked countries were being blocked by their app. They also advised I enable Shopify’s email verification at checkout—knowing it might deter genuine customers. Despite this, the issue persisted. The bots began using valid, generic email addresses. I followed up again and was asked to grant store access to the dev team, which I did and confirmed. It’s now been three business days with no update. Meanwhile, the Seychelles bot continues to create abandoned checkouts, skewing my store analytics. Support is reading my messages but choosing not to respond. I can only assume they’re struggling to resolve the issue and don’t have a fix. Still, a status update—even if it’s not a solution—would be appreciated. I’ll wait another 24 hours for a response. If I don’t hear back, I’ll initiate a chargeback for the amount paid and delete the app while I search for a more reliable and consistent alternative. Update: They contacted me on 22nd November to address the issue, and I was informed that testing was underway to resolve it. I have waited patiently, but my patience has now worn thin. The aggressive bot traffic originating from China has severely disrupted my analytics. Over the past seven days alone, we have recorded more than a thousand visits from China, which is clearly reflected in Google Analytics. If these bots are truly being blocked, why has the activity not ceased? At this point, the app has failed to deliver on its promised functionality.

Thank you as well for following up on this matter with us, as we take the abandoned checkouts topic very seriously and work on it continuously for the benefit of our users. After multiple developers explored all possible approaches via Shopify’s API and GraphQL, we reached the conclusion that it is not currently possible, from a programmatic standpoint, to prevent the logging of abandoned checkouts or visits in Analytics. I have also reached out privately via email to provide a thorough explanation of this programmatic limitation (including reference links) and to offer a full refund. I am questioning if this works. I have all countries besides US blocked and also VPN blocked becaue I was getting alot of fake email subscribers. Well now I am getting many successful and unsuccessful orders from these blocked countries. It is obvious they are running credit cards to see which work and some of the orders go through and some are declined. When checking the transaction gateway details in the Shopify order page, it shows the country the order was placed from (Russia, Malaysia, Algeria, etc). I then have to cancel these fraudulent orders however I still have to pay the credit card processing fees as those are non-refundable. Therefore, Blocky is not doing it's job at blocking these countries. Perhaps the bots used are too fast for the Blocky app to trigger a block. I have contacted customer support and was told the development team would get back to me and they never did. So I will be cancelling.

Uninstalled same day. Each feature I wanted required an upgrade - and additional cost.

does not block VPNs

I noticed you mentioned that the app didn’t block VPNs, and I’d love to clarify and assist. Did you enable the "Bot Killer" feature and test it by accessing your store through an incognito browser session? If you tested while logged in as the store admin, it’s expected that the app wouldn’t block you—Blocky is designed never to block the store's admin, regardless of their origin country or connection type. Uttery useless. Took me less than 5 minutes to defeat. This app will only block honest customers.

there's no free plan option as advertised. the app automatically took me to a screen to approve a $3.99 basic plan. When I exited out & came back I was still unable to find any free plan just a 7 day free *trial* **Update: After posting this review I immediately received MULTIPLE emails in less than 1 hour stating the company emailed me but didn't hear back. They are coming off as being very aggressive & I'm uncomfortable.

We saw that you had a misunderstanding about Blocky's pricing plans - The "Pay-as-you-go" plan is free for the first 99 visitors that visit your store and then it's 20 cents for every additional 100 unique visitors that visit your store. All of Blocky's pricing plan are clearly described in the app's listing page on the awesome Shopify App Store. We tried to contact you via email but never heard back.
