Crystalarium review for Easyship ‑ All in One Shipping
I used Easyship to send a FedEx shipment to Canada and prepaid the import charges through Easyship. We were charged $441.18 USD for Import Tax plus a $15.00 USD DDP Handling Fee. Despite this, FedEx later contacted the recipient before delivery and required an additional $238.97 CAD for the package to be released. FedEx’s breakdown showed $0.00 duty, $227.00 CAD GST/HST, and a small clearance/ROD fee. Easyship initially acknowledged the issue and said they were working with FedEx to have the charge waived. However, the client ultimately had to pay FedEx to receive the package. To protect the customer experience, we refunded the client out of our own pocket, but we have still lost the client over the lack of clarity and trust around this shipment. The bigger concern is that FedEx’s requested amount was substantially lower than what Easyship had already charged us. We would never have known there might be a discrepancy or overcollection if FedEx had not asked the customer to pay again. I followed up multiple times asking Easyship for an itemized explanation of how the $441.18 USD import tax charge was calculated, why FedEx required an additional $238.97 CAD, and whether any overcollected or duplicate payment would be refunded. I have not received a response since June 10th. I understand that international duties and taxes can be complicated. What I do not understand is collecting hundreds of dollars in prepaid import charges, having FedEx require the recipient to pay again, and then not providing a clear explanation after repeated follow-ups. I would be happy to update this review if Easyship provides a transparent itemization and resolves the duplicate/over-collected charges, but at this point I cannot trust their DDP/import tax process for future international shipments, or honestly any of their other rates.
