Parcelify: Shipping Rates

We use this app to apply free shipping to certain products and not others. The solution is a little "hacky" but it works great. The app installed easily and is so far bug-free.

Shopify falls short when you have products that require truck shipping. I tried a bunch of paid apps before this one and found that most are US based and are not set up for Canadian freight companies. Another app in the store showed promise but wouldn't work with Canadian FedEx ltl accounts. I have established rates with many Canadian freight companies, some local, some national that will probably never interface with shopify. What this app allowed me to do was create shipping rates that would populate in the checkout for products that were too heavy to ship by Canada Post, FedEx and Ups. I was able to select products by sku that would trigger the truck freight rate and then calculated the rate based on the subtotal of the cart. It works pretty slick and has a lot more flexibilty to calculate rates by weights and more. Prior to this app, I created a message asking the customer to request a freight rate when no rates were available for those items that couldn't ship with C Post, FedEx and Ups and people would abandon many carts. Now the customer can see a rate and I ship with the freight company of my choice. No need for special account integrations with multiple carriers. I also used this app to apply a free shipping rate for a single product. I introduced a new product in my store and wanted to offer free shipping on it, and if the customer added a second item to the cart, calculated shipping rates would apply and the free shipping offer would disappear. With Parcelify, I am able to create a 'shipping rate' and apply a variety of filters to qualify it to appear. In my case, I was able to apply an individual product filter to receive the rate. I also only wanted to offer the free shipping rate to residents of Canada so I made another requirement for this shipping rate that only addresses with the country code 'CA' get to see the free shipping rate. So how does it work in the cart? What Parcelify does is it displays the free shipping rate in the checkout if the customer's address is from Canada and if the product is the one I selected. Parcelify doesn't suppress the calculated shipping rates, they are still showing but the free shipping rate is displayed at the top of all of the shipping options so it is easily seen. The Parcelify free shipping rate for this product will disappear if the customer puts another product in the cart because I also set the filters to require that all products in the cart must match the product that I selected in the filter, otherwise the free shipping rate will disappear. Parcelify allows for great degree of filtering options and additional weight and price based rates. PS. There are some reviews from some whinners saying the app is not free and you need calculated shipping. Here are the facts. My store is on the basic $29 plan. Call Shopify and prepay an annual store subscription and Shopify will give you calculated shipping on the basic plan. That's how I got it, now you know how to get it.

Awesome App Did Exactly what we need

It took me longer to get my hands around the instructions and logic, but once I did we were able to accomplish the variations that we needed for our shipping needs. I experimented with some $15/month apps that were not nearly as flexible and required a learning curve too. I now am convinced that no matter what weird scenario might come up to complicate shipping in the future, that I can figure it out using the logic of Parcelify. (And I still don't have a clue about the advanced options even!) Extremely pleased and thanks for the great tool

This app is a lifesaver for countries where Shopify only has one shipping zone but where local logistics companies have complex rates - especially in Southeast Asia where countries can have hundreds of cities and literally thousands of islands! Christian is very responsive to questions and support too.

I like this app very much so far. It seems very solid, and it does just what I want in a very logical way. Nov. 2017. I have been using this app for about 3 months +, and it has been very useful and stable. I have used it to create specific shipping rates for selected products. Highly recommended.

Simply put - this functionality is essential for being able to offer flexible and customizable rates to your customers. Support from Christian is top-notch too which is a big bonus.

Great app, does what it says it does and provides the customisation you need if you are outside of the US and don't have the integration of shipping out of the box with shopify.

Once you get the hang of it, this app is the best shipping app I've come across! Pairs well with Advanced Shipping Rules if you send a lot of merch through Printful.

We need to ship things ranging in weight from 500g to 100kg, some of which we deliver ourselves, some are delivered by a courier and some by Australia Post. This app made it easy to set up lots of different shipping rates based on price and or weight. Fantastic!!!! Highly recommended!

I'd highly recommend this solution to people who want to amend Shopify's default rates with something more customizable for situations where you want to create additional rates for customers to choose from, say for pickups, or for local delivery, or special cases. The filters are pretty powerful to narrow down the special rates to subsets of products, or for certain delivery areas, to tell Shopify when to show the rate. The author of this app is quick to respond and really helpful. I did have to go elsewhere for a solution because Parcelify lets you add special rates, and is very configurable, but it doesn't interact with live calculated rates. I wanted to create a filter that would select certain products and use UPS rates on just those products, while having tiered rates for the rest of my products. Parcelify wasn't designed to do this. It appears to be great at providing rates for groups or individual products, providing rates for additional items when more than one is added to the order, filtering based on country, postal codes, SKU, product name, brand, even the street name for hyper-local rates, and more. I'm still giving it 5 stars, because for what it is designed to do, it does do it well and the support is uncommonly good. My one suggestion to the author is to provide a little more documentation of how it works and what it can and cannot do. It would aid people who are searching to customize rates. I really thought this might help me, and spend days trying to figure it out, to find out that it was the wrong tool for me. Kind of the author to provide it for free. Note to those that don't have live rates... Apparently to install a shipping app, there is a requirement imposed by Shopify that live rates must be enabled. Pay for your Shopify plan and contact their support and ask them to switch on the live rates for you. They will. Or you can pay an à la carte fee if you want to pay monthly to get live rates. Don't rate this app poorly because you were not aware of this. It will not cost you more to upgrade to the annual plan and then you have it!

So far better than "Better Shipping" app. and MUCH BETTER PRICE. Hands down must have app in your arsenal. Also, contacted the developer and he responded FAST. API Work around: If you don't have an Advanced plan, you can qualify for real-time carrier-calculated shipping by changing your shopify billing to yearly. BOOM!

Probably the most useful app we have installed. We sell a large range of items from small containers to large massage tables and sofas, and ship them all over the country with different methods. Parcelify is a simple yet very powerful tool that helps us customize all our shipping options. We're able to receive orders online now that we used to have to take over the phone. The developer, Christian, is amazing and responsive as well.

Simple, Efficient, Effective, Free. Does its job and offers a high level of flexibility without overloading the senses. Good price tag too. Good job.

Totally amazing! This is the missing piece of the puzzle you need if you need to do things like exclude items from Free Shipping or want avoid entering hundreds or thousands of weight based rates for a carrier that does not have a real time rate calculator for Shopify.
