Highly recommend Tolstoy, not only because it’s a great addition to your site, but because their customer service is also amazing. Earl Sarsuelo is incredibly responsive, helpful, and genuinely invested in supporting us. He takes the time to understand what we’re trying to accomplish and is always thoughtful about helping us get the most out of the platform. Anytime we have a question or need help, he’s quick to jump in and find a solution. It makes such a difference to work with a company where you feel like there are real people behind the product who care about your success. We are big Tolstoy fans!

Tolstoy used to be a really simple, easy-to-use tool, which is exactly why I liked it. Since the platform shifted heavily toward AI-generated layouts and conversational interfaces, it’s become much harder to get a clean, polished widget that matches my website. Basic styling and layout changes now take more time than they used to, and the AI often seems to get in the way rather than help. It’s definitely become more powerful, but for anyone who just wants simple shoppable video widgets with straightforward design control, the experience has gotten noticeably worse.

I had one video on a product page doing something strange so I reached out to tech support. They got back to me right away and got the problem resolved quickly. This product overall has been really great. This is the first time I've had any sort of glitch with it. I appreciate the great customer support!

Earl was super helpful and efficient in resolving the fix. Frankly the UI on Tolstoy is not very straightforward and changes so often so gets confusing really quickly but their support team is very helpful and makes it so easy to work with.

Credit where credit is due. I had previously given this app a negative review. Since then the team at Tolstoy have worked diligently with me above and beyond to make improvements to a point where my facial expression went from a dark scowl to a ear to ear grin! In this short time since the team have contacted me, the outcomes have been great. Sure, it is not instant and there's learning of both a human nature and AI nature to consider but the outcome is well worth it already saving us much time and effort. No more photo shots on location and all the variables and costs that go along with it in this fast paced time poor world we now live in. We are now at a point we are enthusiastic about really deep diving inot what we can do with it. Also, the fact we are dealing with a business that cares and strives for improvement with outstanding customer service means a lot. I am a convert.

This app breaks week after week after week. It's the most unreliable app I have ever used. I can't wait to build it in-house and get off it. Save yourself the energy. Expensive, overpriced, and awful. They keep investing in AI but they can't even keep the core of the app operational. It's embarrassing at this point.

Unclear billing and repeated upgrade pressure. I was being charged overages based on “billable impressions,” but the numbers do not match my Shopify and Google Analytics data. Remarkably, Tolstoy’s own team has given me different explanations of what counts as a billable impression: scrolled/seen, unique impressions, and page-load impressions. When I raised concerns about this, I was repeatedly pushed toward upgrading instead of the explanation of what I am being billed for. A promised refund --for one billing period-- took weeks of follow-up. I have now asked them to review my full account history because of their own inconsistencies around “billable impressions.” Use caution with Tolstoy’s overage billing.
