Beware of TopDawg: Unethical Practices and Poor Customer Service We had a highly disappointing experience with TopDawg and want to warn others to stay away from this company due to their unethical and customer-unfriendly practices. We initially signed up for a one-year subscription, only to discover that this was a central account. After speaking with a representative named Paul, we were advised to downgrade the subscription and switch to a Shopify-based account instead. He assured us that the money from the central account would be refunded. Following this advice, we activated a new Shopify account. However, upon logging in, we quickly realized that TopDawg's prices were extremely inflated—up to four times higher than other suppliers for the same products. As a result, we decided to cancel our membership immediately. After deleting the app, we contacted TopDawg to request refunds for both accounts. They agreed to refund the central account, but only after deducting 15%—a fee we found shocking. Can you imagine a company in the U.S. charging a 15% fee to refund your own money? After a month of persistent follow-up, we finally received our refund, but with the 15% deduction. For our Shopify account, however, they flatly refused to issue a refund, citing company policy. When we asked for our account to be reinstated since we hadn't used it for even a full day, they claimed it wasn't possible because the app had been deleted. But then they bizarrely suggested creating a new account, which they would fully refund. This raises a serious ethical concern: why could they refund the new account in full, but not the first, where they deducted 15%? And why deny us a refund on the Shopify account when we hadn't even used it? TopDawg's practices are unethical and their service is not worth the hassle. We urge others to steer clear of this company.

First, we understand there was confusion with upgrading the wrong account. While we don’t have control over that, we recognize how frustrating this must have been for you. To clarify, wholesale pricing is visible even with our free startup account before any upgrade to a Central account or the Shopify Integration plan. Your comment about being unaware of pricing prior to upgrading seems to be based on a misunderstanding, and we hope this clears things up. Regarding your Central account refund, we acted quickly to apply a credit to your TopDawg Retailer account as soon as you made your request. While our membership fees are non-refundable according to our terms of use, we chose to go beyond our policy and issued you a full refund to use on the platform for future product purchases. When you later requested the refund to your original payment method, we honored that request as well. The 15% fee deducted in the process was to cover unavoidable credit card processing fees and prorated membership charges, but we genuinely aimed to be as accommodating as possible. In terms of the Shopify subscription, it’s important to note that Shopify handles merchant charges directly, so we are not in control of that billing. After uninstalling the app, we no longer had the ability to issue a credit on your Shopify account. If you had reinstalled the app, as Paul suggested, we would have been able to refund the Shopify subscription in full. Throughout this process, our customer service team was in regular communication with you, working to address the challenges caused by the account upgrade and Shopify app uninstallation. We truly strive to provide top-notch support, and we regret if it felt otherwise. Any claim to the contrary does not reflect the level of service we aim to deliver.
