Canteen ‑ Deposits and Fees

Wonderful, fast customer service!

This app is an absolute game changer for our food business! We are able to add fees for recycling deposits, allowing us to keep track of the amount separate from the actual item cost. The app support is fantastic and very responsive. 10/10 recommend!

Overall, I recommend this app to streamline the process of collecting deposits. It makes it simple for staff to click a button and apply the proper deposits, all with minimal work to set up deposits when creating new products. If I could give 4.5 star, I would! The only negatives: 1. Occasionally, the app glitches on the Close button and it confuses new staff. Not sure why the Close button doesn't work, but it hasn't for a while. 2. Wish we could apply negative deposits to refund customers when they return things! This may be a Shopify limitation, so it might not be fair to ding the app for it, but if it were possible to create a button to streamline returns, that would be ideal. Subtracting out returns as discounts isn't preferable for us, but it's how we manage these returns (which creates extra manual work on the back end for accounting purposes).

It does the job. However I question the value. We do not sell a lot of (cans) so paying $9.99UDS/month = 13.74CDN would be equal to the deposits on 137 cans. If you are using it to pass long the can deposit fee to the customer and segregate it from the cost, it will do this, but it will cost you more at the end if you are selling less than 137cans/ month. I am considering just absorbing the deposit into my costs. It will create savings for the customer and cost me less in the long run.

Unreliable, randomly removes selected products from their rulesets costing our company money while their support team tries to figure out what is happening. Slow on POS devices as well, overall happy to be done using this application. App has a lot of potential, but not quite there yet.

THIS APP IS GLITCHY JUNK AND DOESN'T WORK! I'm not sure if the others are all fake reviews and I would normally never leave a review, but these guys just lead me on for over a week making excuses about different unexpected production issues multiple days in a row. I waited and still had the same issues. They said I should do a special work around of adding and deleting, then refreshing and adding again all manually, which will not work with many products. Maybe you can mess around with 1 product, but I don't believe it would work consistently even with one product. It would need to be checked daily as I couldn't even get one product to work consistently. I was also lied to multiple times about their "developer/owner" was going to get on my site and look and said he did, but checked the user stats and he didn't. He was on once and said he would make some video of the manual process, but never did because he knew the app doesn't work and couldn't fake a video. They were just trying to lead me on to forget about it and pay their monthly fees. DO NOT be scammed or fooled by these guys. This app is garbage and should be taken off the app store, especially with the deceitful people running it and wasting people's time.

We use this to tie environmental fees to products, overall works well. Had a few issues bit support has been great. Without this our site wouldn't work.

We have uninstalled this app. We've had multiple issues with fees not being applied at checkout. Most recently, fee rules have been deleting themselves without explanation. Our biggest issue was poor customer support, they have not fixed the issue or gotten back to us. Now looking into other similar apps...

App works just as we need it to and customer service is quick!

The team at Canteen have helped me enable service fee per order on my store, initially had some issues with my theme and they were very helpful in finding workarounds. The app works great and has an easy to follow settings page. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to add custom fees to their store!

Tired this app for our website. I had some trouble with that app working properly on my site. I tried reaching out several times with no luck. I really wanted this app to work, but because of negligence, I just uninstalled it.

Canteen works great for those in the auto industry who need to add core charges to select products. The app is versatile and allows you to add charges to specific variations on a product page instead of all products. The support team is super responsive and can fix most problems with theme integrations relatively quickly. The new V3 of the app is awesome and eliminates the possibility of customers cheating the system and removing the core from the cart. If Shopify allowed the app to work automatically for draft orders instead of having to manually add in the fees, it would be the absolute perfect core charge app!

We needed an app that would allow us to charge container deposit fees in a variety of different formats. We switched from a custom deposit rule that never worked perfectly to Canteen Deposits and Fees and we couldn't be happier. We use a custom Shopify 2.0 theme that caused an installation error, but Sasquatch Studio helped us every step of the way to get the app working correctly. They provided excellent communication and support. We can't thank them enough for their above and beyond customer service. We were trying to find a way to charge a deposit on wine bottles sold both in-store and online. Canteen is exactly what we needed. Taxation on beverage alcohol is hard enough in Ontario, but Shopify does not make it easy - Canteen did. Now we don't have to pay our accountant as much!
