We are using the Google & YouTube app for Shopify on our store: https://dolfinos.com/. We noticed that even after updating the app a few weeks ago, the data sent to Google Ads via the Google Tag still contains outdated parameters: • ecomm_pagetype • ecomm_prodid • ecomm_totalvalue From what I understand, these parameters are part of the old tracking format and should have been replaced by the newer event structure after the update. However, they are still being sent, which may affect our tracking and remarketing performance.

Hi! I couldn't find a case or support ticket submitted to us about this. Can you please contact support at https://support.google.com/merchants/contact/shopify_3p_support_app I'm not able to properly troubleshoot or reply publicly with private information or direction to you here, so submitting a support ticket would be preferable to communicating via review. You can also submit support tickets directly from the app in the menu by selecting Contact Support.

Just give me GTM. This newer app sucks. I only need to add a GA tracking ID without logging into a Google account. This used to be easy but not anymore. Thanks for overcomplicating this.

Hi! You are able to add your Google Tag manually without needing to link your ads account or any other services the app provides in the Settings tab of the app. While we do require a Google Account on install to authorize and validate your access, you won't need to connect any additional accounts if you don't want to and can simply just use the GTM functionality. Here's the Help Center article for reference, located at step 3 under "Just want to set up Google Analytics?" https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/16030792?&zippy=%2Cjust-want-to-set-up-google-analytics#zippy=%2Cjust-want-to-set-up-google-analytics Step 3 of 3: Add your Google tag for Analytics manually (Alternative) 1. In the Google & YouTube app, navigate to the “Settings” page. 2. In the “Google tags” section click Manage. 3. You can manually add Google tags for additional Google Analytics properties (or other Google services). 4. When you are done, click Save. 5. Click Complete setup.

My main gripe with this app is the lack of server-side tracking, it's 2025 people! This limitation isn’t clearly communicated, and many users likely aren’t aware of it. For an app of this size and importance, the decision to exclude server-side tracking feels like a significant design oversight. While I’ll have to create a custom solution for my own events anyway, it’s disappointing to see Google take such a limited approach on this front. Cheers, Aldert

Really poor support and guidance. Seemingly lost all connection to google analytics and cannot find anywhere in the app to add it back in!

I've been having the same problems as the previous Shopify merchants. My account is suspended for misrepresentation. However, I fix the so-called errors and the account is still suspended. The assistance is sub-par, only offering automated responses. I will be deleting this app as it is frustrating to use and non productive.

Hi - I couldn't find any support tickets under any of your possible merchant center accounts, did you submit a support ticket before the review? https://support.google.com/merchants/contact/shopify_3p_support_app Also, make sure the Google Account you use to log in and set up the Google & YouTube App has Admin access to any accounts you want to link. The Google email you use on the app needs to match an admin account on your Google Ads account to allow linking. If it does, send us a ticket and we can help.

I am really disappointed in google very limited human support. My account has been suspended from the beginning of the year and still I cannot get any support. I uninstalled and reinstalled and the same suspension comes up even when I create new account. This is so unfair to business owners as we are suffering with getting customers. How are we to pay for ads when we cannot get any business? Why are there no human live chat support daily, 24/7 like other providers and google is rich? I am really annoyed with this. Can I get someone to help resolve this long standing issues. Regards ShelloCB. .................................................................................................. October: Previously, google MC can be a real headache. Time consuming, you just have to have some serious patience. You cant delete anything from it, frustrating and some fixes need you to have contact with outsourcing workers from some countries that has worries of scams.

Hi - you won't need to delete products from Merchant Center because we will keep your Shopify catalog in sync with Google products automatically. The whole benefit of using this App is you don't need to manually micromanage your Google Merchant Center alongside your Shopify store -- we'll do that syncing for you. If you're still having issues with the App, please contact us. I didn't see any support tickets from your Merchant Center ID previously. https://support.google.com/merchants/contact/shopify_3p_support_app

This app has caused my google merchant centre to throw misrepresentation errors twice now, AFTER it was initially all working perfectly prior to installation. My products were approved, Identity was verified, etc, and after connecting the app, ALL of my products were rejected, misrepresentation policy violations (that I rectified and they never reflected in the reviews) Google's assistance and support were NON EXISTENT. I asked for help more than once and never had any actual help, just the same email telling me the same misrepresentation violations that I already rectified.

The app does a great job of tracking however on further investigation the product ID uses an incorrect prefix if you're only using it for GA4. It sends a prefix of "shopify_US_" for all stores. So for me with a UK store the prefix of our product ID's is "shopify_GB_" and there is no way to change this in the Google and YouTube app?

Hi, please send us a ticket at https://support.google.com/merchants/contact/shopify_3p_support_app, since I'm unable to find your store or linkage through your public facing name alone. However, it's very likely the prefix is not incorrect, despite it being a different country listing. If you had connected before, you may have received a US prefix initially, and as you've added on additional markets, we wouldn't want to create a unique product ID for the same item in different countries, since that would treat them as different products entirely, not just the same item sent to different markets. So behind the scenes your Shopify_US_ product IDs are likely being targeted or US, UK, and other countries; we just didn't want to delete and add new products when you made the link via the app. You can confirm this by checking Merchant Center > All Products > add the Country and Language columns, and viewing which countries a product may be opted into. Note that we don't allow changing the prefix, because that would essentially treat all these items as NEW products, losing all history and existing campaigns, because Product IDs are not able to be edited, so this is an intentional procedure to preserve your data.

Used this app for years then woke up one morning to find multiple errors on my merchant centre. For some reason overnight all my products changed from in stock to 'blank' - only solution was to manually update everything to in stock on merchant centre - not an easy task on over 50k products - all are in stock on shopify. Now my product description on MC is not showing my Shopify SEO Product description, its showing my product description when its set to use SEO title/description only. Major issue is this over CSS capacity, again happened over night. Why fix something that isnt broken!? This has nearly bankrupt my business ive gone from too many sales to nothing. I'll be putting all of my google ads on hold until this is all resolved. Read other reviews and avoid this 'sales channel' until they actually fix all of these issues.

Hi - I've gone ahead and replied on one of your case tickets. It seems that the over-quota issue was the main culprit when you expanded the product sync to multiple markets, and only a few products had missing availability. For others having quota issues, you can visit https://support.google.com/merchants/contact/additional_items

The app worked good for a while now there are all sorts of problems where the URL has something added to it and the item is rejected by google for now working. All kinds of problems now - the gtin is not going through either even though it is there.

Hi - the URL format has not changed since the app launched. You may see certain parameters being added in Merchant Center to the end of the URL for analytics, but it does not affect your website or product listing. The only issues I've seen recently were at most 7 products with an Unavailable Product Landing Page for one day, but that has nothing to do with the product URLs and should not have affected the majority of the products you list. This was due to our inability to read landing pages as for a short time period, some traffic from Google was being blocked by Shopify security protocols, but that has long since resolved. The GTINs aren't coming through because you have set your products to being "Custom Products", meaning they wouldn't have a GTIN. If you mark them as not being Custom Products, you'll see your GTINs being populated again. If you want more assistance, please submit a ticket at https://support.google.com/merchants/contact/shopify_3p_support_app There are many things I can't discuss about your store publicly that I can via support tickets, and I didn't see any existing support tickets before this review.

It is so disappointing to see a brand like Google coming up with this kind of an app. It is not for shopify store owners at all. Everything is extremely complicated and creates a headache. I have no idea what am I doing wrong and google support is robotic. They keep pointing us to articles after articles to read. This has become such a big headache. Not user friendly, not helpful, definitely not DIY. I have two stores and as soon as I connect the other store my current store becomes unapproved. I connect my other store to a new account, it says you already have an account and cannot open a new one. I just gave up after 3 months of wasting tuime and effort. Horrible.

Hi - sorry you ran into some issues. The app is built to only connect one Merchant Center account to one Shopify Store. This is why when you connected the second store, it disconnected the first one. It will switch the store connection to the more recent click you did. I wasn't able to find any cases under your most recent Merchant Center ID that you may have submitted to support, so you could try sending a case to our pp Support. It's possible you submitted a ticket to Merchant Center or another area that doesn't manage the Google & YouTube App specifically. https://support.google.com/merchants/contact/shopify_3p_support_app Feel free to submit a ticket to us and include the two Shopify IDs you have, and which merchant center IDs you want to connect them to

The newest update of this app has caused a lot of products for our business. We used to be able to easily filter before bulk editing products - specifically Google metafields (color, size, age group, and gender) for apparel. We could filter by vendor or active/draft or sort by created and products with issues were an entire category that we could edit separately. However, since the past updates - we can now only edit all of our products at once (which we have over 10,000 so it is impossible to work with anymore.)

Hi - this sounds like you're using the Products page Search & Filter functionality, and also the Bulk Editor, which is in Shopify and not a tool of the Google & YouTube App. I'd recommend submitting a ticket to Shopify about the missing filter options and the bulk editor limitations. The Google & YouTube app doesn't own these pages and we haven't had a major app update that would have changed any of our metafields, so I think it was a Shopify update you're talking about.

I'd love to use this app, but like most stores, my product ids in Google Shopping are not Shopify product ids - they existed before they were on Shopify. Without being able to choose which field acts as the item id, this app is useless. Even if you don't use the Google Shopping features, it will not record conversions correctly either because the product ids will be different. I can't change the product ids in Google Shopping, as then I'll lose years of data on those items. Simple fix would make this app great

Hi! Thanks for the suggestion. We initially built the app to use the default Shopify ID export format for two reasons: 1) It would cover the most merchant use cases since very few customize their Shopify IDs past the default product_variant format and 2) Due to how Google treats every variant as its own product, we needed a consistent way to transform Shopify Products into Google variant offers, and this was a guaranteed unique product format that would match across systems. We have investigated allowing merchants to select an export format, but ultimately this may cause more problems with products merging in Google if they aren't selecting a unique identifier. For example, Shopify does not validate or enforce your SKU to be unique across your store, so this could cause major problems when we kept updating the price of your TV based on the duplicated SKU of your pencil. Additionally, this would imply that changing the product ID option in Shopify would update the products in Google, which isn't the case -- once a Product ID is set in Google, it is unable to be changed. Sorry this app won't be able to help you with your current Product IDs - we do have a lot of merchants ending up doing a one time switch to the new product ID formats since it tends to integrate better overall using the default Shopify Product IDs, but I understand it would not work in your case.

A living nightmare matrioshka of tags beings installed everywhere we had no control whatsoever on what was happening. The firth circle of hell. Even the shopify support looked baffled by the mess it created... No help whatsoever. On the verge of a mental breakdown.

This app has been super dissappointing. It should not be offered to shopify store owners without proper guidance and control. It is being offered as if everything will go smoothly and as if shopify has done its verification process and there are no issues. It does not allow you to manually choose your products but just automatically syncs the products into merchant account at the beginning. The app should provide potential issues you may have before syncing your products in google and being hit with misrepresentation, policy violation, or any other issue. It should give you an option of whether you want to sync your products to free listing only or both free listing or google ads. It should allow owners to exclude products certain channels in shopify itself since it is easier to filter and bulk edit in shopify than in Google & You tube. It should also provide a checklist or warning of potential issues of why your store will be disapproved by google. Any live help should be offered immediately to relief shopify owners that unknownily fall into this situation.
