Ilana's JSON‑LD for SEO (TM)

I’ve been a paying customer of this app for a couple of years and recently ran into an issue after being billed for a renewal I missed canceling by just 5 days. I reached out promptly, expecting some flexibility given my long-term use, especially since the app’s own policy indicates that exceptions can be considered in certain cases. Despite that, I was told there are absolutely no exceptions, showing zero flexibility or consideration for customers, even in reasonable situations. What was more concerning than the refund denial itself was the tone of the communication. Throughout the interaction, I remained polite and professional in trying to resolve the issue. After a couple of follow-ups, I was told further emails would not be responded to and that my messages were “bordering on harassment,” which felt dismissive and not aligned with a customer-first approach. From a functionality standpoint, I also discovered that the app was duplicating structured data already provided by Shopify, which may negatively impact SEO rather than improve it. Overall, while the app may work for some, my experience with both the support and the value provided was disappointing. I would recommend others carefully evaluate whether it’s truly adding value to their store before committing long-term. If you are unsure, uninstall before your renewal because you will not get your money back.
When you installed in 2024, you had limited Rich Results. Over the course of the two years you had the app installed, not only did number of Rich Results increase, but you also doubled the types of Rich Results that show up for your store. These Rich Results were emailed to you every few months and annually as part of your billing reminder. Regarding the renewal charge, you received an email from me on March 11th, more than 30 days advance noticed, that your plan was about to renew. I believe Shopify also sends emails that your plan is about to renew. We gave you ample notice before you were charged. You forgetting to uninstall before you saw the charge on your bill is not an exceptional case for a refund. My policies are very clear which you agreed to when you signed up for the app. I remained polite and offered to help you get use out of the app since you already paid for it. You ignored my decision and continued to ask including trying to tattle to Shopify in order to manipulate a refund. Yes, it became borderline harassment after you made the 5th request for a refund and you would not accept the decision. In return you posted this one star review and said "If you’re open to reconsidering the refund as a one-time exception, I’d be happy to update my review to reflect that." That's extortion, not the sign of a "polite and professional" person.
I had very bad experience with Mrs. Ilana Davis, the developer of Ilana's JSON‑LD for SEO (TM). I was impressed by wide range of features of her app, and I decided to give a try, ordering a free trial, expecting results during free trial. There elapsed 11 days, and there was not traffic, no sales, anything and also, I got a huge charge for the US $399. I was trying to contact the developer during four days without success. After four days, she replied to tell me that I should enable the app. I didn't know because with another SEO app, as soon as it is installed, it is already active enabled. The developer assured me that I would see results within first weeks in traffic and sales, but it might take up 34+days, and I should give a try. Four weeks elapsed and there no traffic, nor sales. The I hired external three SEO companies to monitor my website, and I discovered zero traffic, zero sales, Rich result only for Coach Legacy fragrance, broken links, snippets errors, JS errors, etc. I contacted the developer for the refund, because I was not happy with her app. Mrs. Davis refused to give me the refund, and told me because I enabled the app, and I used it for 26 days, there should be not refund. It was my problem. On other side Shopify adviser suggested me to uninstall the app to claim my refund what I did. Mrs. Davis refused to make refund, and didn't deliver all these app's features, outlined here but only Rich results of few products, but I didn't order only Rich results reports but the wide range of app's features that were not delivered: Optimize your SEO traffic by highlighting your reviews, prices, & business details in search results Safely & effectively earn qualified traffic to boost conversions. Instantly connect the structured data fields needed for Google Rich Results, Rich Snippets & Merchant Center (Google Shopping, Ads, YouTube Shopping). After installing you’ll get a data audit, ongoing monitoring of your results, unlimited app support, & the Shopify SEO: Simplified video training course. Not sure? Ask for a structured data audit. Qualify for Rich Results & earn more quality traffic in Google, Bing & Pinterest Connect all the Schema fields needed for Google Merchant Center with/out a feed Show product reviews in search results with any of the review apps supported Customizable for preorders, product condition, subscriptions, min qty, and more Products, reviews, blogs, breadcrumbs, pages, homepage, recipes & video data I am so disappointed, how the developer proceeded scamming me, yes, Mrs. Davis, you don't deliver what you advertise. We merchants, know that as soon we install any app, they are already active but in the case of your app, it was different. It was a free trial, but it is funny that I never could use or test your app during free trial because it was inactive and you didn't care about your customer to contact and communicate that your app works different, I should enable the app. After you suggested me to enable it to give a try, and assured me that slowly I would see sales, traffic from first weeks but especially significant change after 34- days, and nothing happened., and you blamed me that I don't do marketing, and you don't guarantee anything. Really? For what so your customers are paying? You were dishonest and unprofessional, you deceived my trust and my expectations to receive a quality service, and it is not just is this. Because I was complaining, you blocked me to prevent me reinstalling your app because you charged me. Also, what you posted on your app website is very offensive to many people. It is disrespectful and offensive because your good service depends on people who support your point of view, and who doesn't support, you don't want their money. Your wrote at your website your statement: I value diverse points of view, and I expect the same from you. If you’re a business that supports women, BIPOC, Trans and/or Gender Non-Conforming, persons with disabilities, and values diverse points of view, we’ll work very well together. If you cannot accept this, I cannot accept your money. So, also, because I don't support discrimination and division, and I love all people nonmatter what gender they are but strongly believe that God created in his image female and male that there are only two genders female and male, I don't support your point of view, PLEASE REFUND MY MONEY. Because of your bad business practices and your point of view, I am not supporting your business.
You installed the app on March 11th, got an email the same day to enable the app. I emailed you personally on March 12th reminding you again to enable the app in your storefront. During your 7-day trial period, you received multiple emails from me about the app. The first time you emailed me was on Saturday March 29th, when you sent 9 emails in one day demanding a refund. I responded the next business day. Once you enabled the app in your storefront on March 29th, you got Rich Results within 12 days. Much faster than the average. When you got the invoice from Shopify, you lied and said you didn't approve the charge and demanded a refund while still using the app. I told you multiple times you will not get a refund because the app is working for you. You kept asking and even in this review, you're still demanding a refund. I have never and would never promise traffic or sales, no one can. Expecting millions visitors to magically appear and flood your sales within the first month is unrealistic, unreasonable, and disconnected from the reality of SEO. The app qualifies you for Rich Results and that's what was delivered. I'm not going to list out the details of your attacks on me over the course of dozens of emails. Your lying, threatening, manipulation, bullying, harassment, and discrimination will not be tolerated. Your access to the app is blocked because you uninstalled terminating our agreement and then threatened legal action. Since there's no active agreement and I have seen how you treat me, I will not enter into a new agreement with you. Like most businesses, I reserve the right to refuse service.
New update from support: "You are welcome to continue the use of my app, however I will no longer be responding to your emails. If that does not suit you, you are welcome to uninstall and remove the code." You shall think twice before you pay $299 Replay to UpDate 4 December, 2019: I still have Schema issue, for some Theme you need customise it, if anybody will have the same issue watch this video, since you will have zero support from support https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uZSBWuwkrM. Also I used different app on my other web site to install JSON, the same issue they fixed in 48 hours. I don't know why, but Sitelinks searchbox with different up App I have already 38 valid pages with this app only 1. Thank you for your replay. However I sent you scenn short, which indicate your app create warning. I check few website of my competitors, which in sero point inn Google, they don't have any warning, meaning till I will be clean, nothing will change my possition in Google rancking. It may be good app, which shall improve your SEO, but at the same time you shall expect few erros and warning, which you may have after installation. When you buy app, not thing said about conflicting app. I paid $299 for app and $500 to third party to clean old codes. It was not bad, at least I did a lot of cleaning and improvments. However I still have one waring, which according to Google testing tool come from JSON-LD for SEO. App developer give very interesting replay "not apply to your type of business". Just let you know, you may ask if app apply to your type (shopity store) business before install and buy it.
Update December 4th, 2019 This store received Rich Results 11 days after installing, the majority including the product review data. Now about 45 days after installing about 96% of their products have Rich Results showing the reviews, prices, and product availability (the most complete style Google awards). - - - October 25th reply: It's unfortunate that after 26 emails back and forth, you still feel this way. Your review is missing some important details: 1. There was preexisting code from another app and your theme had errors before you installed JSON-LD for SEO. After installing my app four days ago, I personally reviewed your store and recommended that you remove the other app as it was harming your SEO and would cause a conflict in Google. 2. After you uninstalled the other app, all of the data from JSON-LD for SEO was and has continued working as expected. 3. You repeatedly asked why an optional 'review' field was missing in the data (your warning you mentioned in your review). I informed you that it is not used on Shopify stores as it is for review websites such as reviewing a movie or a restaurant. I also informed you that if you tried to use that 'review' field, Google would reclassify or penalize your store for misusing that field and reviews. I shared links to Google's documentation that says the same thing and provided you an example of where it has happened to another Shopify store. You ignored my responses and advice. 4. At no point did I tell you to clean any old code except for uninstalling the app in #1 which should have been performed by that app's support for free. It's also truly unfortunate that you spent $500 for a third party to clean old codes in your store, that was NOT from my advice and is unrelated to my app. Perhaps in time, you'll feel more comfortable with my advice instead.
