Shopify Planet

I love the idea, but the execution is lacking. The planet dashboard on my site still says 0 .... which makes it look like 1. I'm disingenuous. 2. I don't have sales.

Great App!

Good concept, poor execution = the hallmark of all Shopify-developed apps. Worked fine initially but I just noticed it stopped collecting orders a few weeks ago now. I've had plenty of orders in this time and the dashboard says 0, there are no charges to my account from Planet so it's definitely not working. Like all of the other Shopify apps, support doesn't actually exist in any meaningful way.

It's the least we can do. I started using it as soon as I discovered it and the Real impact it has, sponsoring projects that mitigate the impact we have on Earth.

I actually really love the idea of this, and we have offset over 8000 shipments so far. I definitely thing there should be more customisation of the page for the widget. as well as the ability to show how much has been offsetted in the storefront. (ie: X shipments offset this year/month/all time). Love it.

Good idea! it would be nice if we could also manually purchase carbon removal credits. That way we could spread information about carbon by sharing it in the product descriptions all across our sales channels like Amazon handmade, etsy, ebay, faire, helloabound, poweredbypeople, wanello and other marketplaces we use. I think it would be nice to see "buy carbon removal credits" button in the Planet app

The badge isn't customizable, and don't tell client how it works.. it really need some improvments.

I love the concept of this app and am so pleased to be able to offer this product for my business. I found this app was pretty simple to install, however, I am wondering if there is an engaging, detailed write-up along with visuals that I could add to my Shipping section and my Sustainability section. is this something that has been developed and I just don't see it? If it is developed please let me know. I have a question, I recently downloaded the Shopify POS and will be using it at a craft show quite a distance from where I have my business, is there any chance I will be charged fees as mentioned by another reviewer? Could you check into this and let me know? I can remove this from my review after I get the answer, I just don't know how else to find out. Thanks again!

I think the idea is wonderful, but as others have mentioned it needs work. I tried adding the banner, but without being able to customize things such as color, size and content, it just isn't a good fit. I've read the reviews from the Planet team and understand they are working on improvements. I'll wait for those to be implemented, then try again. Really great idea though, just needs some fine tuning.

Really like the idea behind the app and I have implemented it on my store. I am really hoping that over the coming weeks / months, the following improvements will be made to the app: Allow customisation of the badge eg. explanation that we are paying for it Allow linking of the badge to a page that explains the carbon removal efforts and ideally a snippet of the dashboard showing the effect we have had so far. Thanks!

Idea is great. Execution could be a lot better. Store name should be able to be added in the text, not just Shopify. We are the one paying the fees. Banner should be shown all through check out, not just in cart. If a buyer uses the Buy It Now button they don't see the banner at all.

Until this app has a way of showing customers (on a dedicated page and on widgets) what we are doing, this isn't super helpful. We can make carbon offsets ourselves with our profits. What we'd like is a way to show the customer: Here is the difference you've all made ordering from us. Here is what our business has contributed from your orders. Here are the places we are helping. A dedicated page for this info is a must. Customers don't trust us just saying "carbon neutral" and we are tired of fielding constant emails asking where it goes, how much, etc. I will update this review to 5 stars once this functionality is added, otherwise, keep up the great work!

The banner needs to be linked to a page that explains it to our customers. Right now it is not clear.

The button looks good, it would be better if is has a link which can be used to explain the initiative better. It doesn't make a lot of sense now to a customer.

Update: Bumping to 5 stars because of all the improvements they have made over the last 2 years. The badge is now highly customizable to closely match your branding and theme, with more placement options. I also love the transparency they've introduced. You can see the exact projects being funded, the credits delivered, and the timeline for each. You can read about each company and they provide you with assets to use when you share the news with customers. Our customers are scientists so the transparency is important. They recently introduced an option to allow customers to cover it if they so choose - that can reduce your costs as well. ---- Love the concept but poor implementation into the storefront. The banner is locked to a specific size and style, sits weirdly close to the above section, and you're unable to add small badges in other places on your store. If you want more than just the store owner to feel good about enrolling, make better display/badge options available.

Im really glad that you have introduced this option, I find it wonderful, all Shopify stores can do a lot together! I leave 4 stars as "Powered by Shopify Planet" should be smaller or maybe phrased differently like "Get to know more about the initiative" >>> Popup and then you can write everything, let people know what it is about, who does it etc. Please let us choose the design and I would really grateful if you take my option into consideration.

thanks for this team, great work! Would be good if you could add additional KM's from outside the platform

Disappointed that the badge is so hard to place like it is shown in the presentation video and Shopify support doesn't help or guide in that, many comments regarding that but still no help from their support team.

I like the premise of the app and happy to have it as a part of my store. However the banner/badges need more refining and do not work with my current esthetics.

Love that we can buy carbon removal for all of our shipments with this app. Thank you Shopify for investing so much with the Sustainability Fund to make it possible for small companies like ours to have a positive impact. We haven't bought carbon credits because we know they have little to no real impact. This is the real solution we've been waiting for. As other reviews have mentioned it is true that the badge isn't very configurable (yet), as this app was just released. But really that's a minor issue compared to what this app enables for us as responsible corporate citizens. Thank you again Shopify!
