Too bad Shopify Payments doesn't offer subscription functionality. Seems like such a logical extension. Seal is fairly intuitive and affordable for the small business to set up and administer, but Shopify order numbers are different, so we have to do a lot of toggling back and forth between these apps during fulfillment time or when responding to customer questions. And as businesses grow, increased capacity and functionality is gated by paywalls, so merchants should be aware of that happening more quickly than expected. Once the business get to a certain size, OOTB reporting becomes very limited and support is not real-time for the US. Agents are in Europe. Given the subscription service is storing customer information to automate renewals, merchants that have aspirations of managing 1,000+ subscriptions with multiple products may want to consider a service with better reporting and analytics that may be initially more expensive, because switching to another provider later could damage retention rates during a change.

Wow! I tried to install another subscription app months ago for my Shopify store, and I literally gave up because the backend became so convoluted, causing major front-end issues. I decided to try it again with Seal - well, I'm so glad I did because I was up and running in less than 30 minutes! I reached out to their customer support to see if they could remove the Seal branding from my checkout UI and that was done in less than 20 hours. I could NOT be happier!!! What a great option for Shopify store owners - so far, the easiest, fastest and best out there.

Review: I’m still learning how to use everything, but Seal Subscriptions has been a helpful tool for setting up subscriptions on my store. It took a little time to understand all the features, but once set up, it works well. If you’re new to subscriptions, there’s a bit of a learning curve, but overall it’s a solid app and worth trying.

I wish Seal subscriptions would notify me when a customer payment fails, changes their subscription, etc.
