Searchanise Search & Filter

The app has strong functionality making it much more than simply a search app. We use Searchanise mainly for search results, collections, and filters on both. It would be great if they advanced their filters to include sliders for numerical ones, and if they could develop local search indexing it would make it a lot faster. Overall definitely worth a download.

This app improved our site search. We also enriched search results with our blog results! Support is very fast, effective and kind.

I have been using Searchanise Smart Search for more than 6 months now. And it has been functioning well for us. Our users especially benefit from instant search suggestions and results. I believe one small improvement will make it more useful for us. In the search results page, for filters, please provide an option to not include new collections by default. We want to manually add only those collections that make sense for filtering / faceted search. Currently, all new collections are automatically added and we need to go and remove manually. This makes it cumbersome for us. What I am asking for is to provide a switch that disables the automatic addition of collections to the filters, by default. All in all, it is a highly reliable app!

Seems to be a nice app. Support very responsive as well. The only thing I wish is that it was easier to control the upsell and cross sell items shown. You can set it manually or have it algorithm-based. But I haven't yet found a way to easily set different complimentary products for each main product (like butter with bread). If you use the auto feature, they say it uses data from sales in the past 60 days which seems to work well, but for new products or products that don't sell often (maybe you are like us where we sell a lot to distributors and not a ton directly on the site), 60 days isn't a long time. I would pay for pro in a heartbeat if it meant more customization over upsell and crosssell.

Searchanise has been a game-changer! The app is very intuitive and allowed me to incorporate custom meta tags from a provider that has image analysis AI that would then tag the images based on what is visible to the customer. My only wish is that the Searchanise team change the "Color" option to "Look" and then incorporate more controls, such as fonts, weight and style. Michael Loates www.glenloates.com

The app is good and integration is pretty good too. Need more features to give freedom to the user and flexibility for collections sorting. Needs also a better pricing plan. Definitely.

Excellent value for a search app. My favorite functionality is its ability to display category pages as search pages with built-in filters/etc. Support has been both excellent and not so excellent, but on my latest issue they were rock stars! My main critique is to provide better matching for search terms without adding synonyms. For example, the app will find product "Focus XT" but not "Focus-XT." I've added a synonym to take care of it, but there should be an option to at least ignore special characters.

This app has been amazing at helping to make our products easier to find. With a large inventory, we struggled for the longest time with collections w/o adequate filters. That's no longer the case thanks to this easy to set up and customize app. Update: I will change my review to 5 stars when they implement swatches for Shopify (not just for Magento) products in a collection page.

this application continues to surprise me,not only it solved the products search problem but also the most important part they continue to add more features to the application, recently the recommendation block function, it is amazing , thank you "Smart Search & Instant Search" team. I was gonna give it 5 stars but because of the lack of some simple features like: - make in search results the zero prices products to appear last after products with prices - make products with higher discounts to show first in search results

Been using this app for a year now and it's one of the better search apps out there. Quick support, they are always adding new features, improvements, and integrations. I'm still waiting for a filter app integration not sure if they will ever be possible though. Overall I'm happy with the product.

User friendly. Helpful staff. However, I wish there was a way to organize the search categories manually. That's the biggest downfall I see at this point. Also, I wish I didn't have to manually go in and put in all the synonyms for the key words. This is probably inevitable and can't be done automatically but I just don't have the time to do it well. Great app! Did not see the trial end though so was unaware it had ceased working on my site - needs addressing. Once I signed up all good again.

Nice app when it works well. However, sometimes, there are items missing and we will need to force re-index. Otherwise, it's a good search tool.

Largely given the options (mainly this versus InstantSearch+), Searchanise is the best available search provider for Shopify. Our main issue is that the app is still really weak/simplistic when it comes to search. For example, searching "table" on our store pulls up "table lamp" and "table clocks" as top results. Expected top results should be "dining tables" and "coffee tables". Trying to play with synonyms did not work, since it only applies to exact search strings. In fact, InstantSearch+ seems to be slightly more intelligent since they're able to provide the proper results (emphasis on "slightly" since they failed some basic search tests elsewhere). However, the cost of Searchanise is far superior and they also have some core features that InstantSearch+ does not. InstantSearch+ seems to have had a head start and coasted at this point - and it shows. InstantSearch+'s overall dashboard and "feel" is outdated compared to Searchanise, which we hope will continue to improve. Another point is customer service - the Searchanise team was very responsive and supportive of the few emails I sent. InstantSearch+'s service felt rather dismissive (a lot of one liners and ignoring some technical questions altogether). Overall, both apps fall short of what's expected from a power search app. Searchanise wins on affordability, customer support, and a weak competitive field. We'd pay more if the search was more accurate, but, given current lack of core search accuracy, the app still falls short of its main purpose. For a great search example, a competitor like Wayfair's search bar perfectly reflects user intent within the furniture/decor industry (but who knows how many times more they've invested into their technology).
