TaxJar Sales Tax Automation

TaxJar makes paying sales tax extremely easy and hassle free. The customer service is why I'm taking the time to leave a review. A few months back our State Department of Revenue made an error that resulted in an incorrect payment. I notified TaxJar and they took the time to contact them and solve the problem. I really appreciate TaxJar going above and beyond to help a small business function. I would recommend them to anybody with an ecommerce business!

TaxJar has always been our sales tax solution program. At first, we were just using the program to calculate the tax for us, that worked great till the business started to grow to the point were filing them manually was taking an eternity, or so it felt. So, when they came up with the auto file feature, we measured how much time this was saving us and how much it costs ... it has been the best cost-for-value transaction we have ever made. Specially with states like California where you have state, county, city and specific programs that you have to account for on every transaction. Wow, if you aren't using this program ... YOU SHOULD!

I don't know how I would be able to file sales tax forms in all the states I need to without an app like taxjar. I have been using it for two years now....great customer service too.

Shopify collects CA taxes at a modified origin rate. However, TaxJar is only able to autofile CA sales tax as Destination sourcing which completely defeats the whole purpose of doing auto-file with TaxJar if the numbers Shopify collected is going to be totally off from what TaxJar is going to pay. Recently TaxJar paid out over $500 extra that I didnt even collect in Shopify. TaxJar needs to figure out how to setup destination sourcing for their autofile.

I file sales tax quarterly. I tried this app to compare its results to my manually-generated Q2 report -- but TaxJar's trial period is limited to 60 days. TaxJar's support staff expects me to manually generate a phony 60-day sales tax return so I can compare my results to their app. That's not going to happen. Why won't they allow a 90-day trial import? No reason I can see. Also, the app's district sales tax calculations were entirely incorrect. That much I could tell at a glance. It's clear from the 5-star reviews that this app works for some people, but my experience with the app and with TaxJar's rigid, offhand, and unhelpful support staff makes it obvious that it won't work for me.

This probably the single most useful app in the App Store. Who wants to deal with sales taxes by state, by county? Remembering to keep a journal of what was taken in and where you owe taxes to? Tax Jar takes the guess work out of a operationally complex issue and puts it on auto pilot. Seriously, after a straight forward set up process, your sales tax management is being handled efficiently. Couldn't do the work without TaxJar!

Takes away a huge stress point for a small business. Filing for sales tax in every required state isn't exactly a strength for a solo-preneur.

Great little tool that shaves off a good chunk of time each month doing the math on what sales tax I owe. Can't wait until they have auto filing for Texas!

This software is a NO BRAINER. GET IT. I used to work with Avatax... what a PAIN. TaxJar has integrated with my shopify site, amazon, eBay, and Etsy store. It couldn't be easier and their support team is awesome! Stop looking and GET TAXJAR! You won't be sorry. My CPA loves it and so do I. set it up once and it will pay your quarterly taxes due too. A+

Fantastic app! We've been using TaxJar for almost 6 months. From a time-management standpoint this is our favorite app. TaxJar has turned what used to be a stressful and headache-filled time filing our taxes into a stress-free, 5 or 10 minute job. The breakdown of the sales we had in each state and the taxes owed in those individual states has cut the time we spend preparing our taxes by 90%. We now have more time to focus on growing our business and taking care of our customers rather than dealing with spreadsheets and columns of numbers. It also made our federal tax calculations much easier because we could match the sales listed in TaxJar against those we'd tracked ourselves. Buy this app. It will save you time and give you peace of mind.

This does simplify our tax reporting quite a bit, but we have encountered discrepancies in paid vs fulfilled items - when TaxJar decide to report tax is different than when we collect collect tax. It seems that if they reported tax on the same month as it was collected (when the sale occurred) rather than when the product was fulfilled (sometimes months away), it would more accurately reflect how we pay taxes. We manually change our numbers to match our sales, not our fulfillment dates. Still an improvement over spreadsheets, but not perfect.

As you may know by now, not all apps work the same and many simply are not worth having. Well, tax jar is the exception. It works and their support is great. The service is a little pricey if you want them to file and pay each month, but here in Ohio, the state really makes it a nuisance to deal with. I can never remember everything and by the time I get that tax bill paid, I waste at least an hour of time. Tax jar fixes all that and works very well.

TaxJar ROCKS! Filing Sales Tax over several states and several platforms (Etsy, Shopify, Paypal, Square) usually took an hour or so to calculate. With TaxJar, it's already done. You sync your accounts, sales tax is calculated and beautifully broken down and it even tells you when it's due (helpful for filing in multiple states). When you efile, just fill in the blanks on the tax form and submit. It's the EASIEST thing in the world. NOTE for Square users: TaxJar and Square aren't synced.. yet. Meanwhile, I downloaded the example csv from TaxJar as a template. Then just entered in my square sales data (from the Square sales report) into the template. Works like a charm!

This app is a MUST have for any business. Filing taxes is a nightmare and this app automates the entire process! I recommend that everyone uses this app because it will save you a ton of time and it makes filing state taxes effortless.

A fantastic application to use with your online store. It's easy to setup and keeps everything organized and simplified for tax time, one of the least favorite times of the year!

This is one of my most favorite apps. Making your tax payments on time is super important to the government - they want your money. Making your tax payments easy is super important to the business owner. TaxJar makes it EASY. It imports all of your history into one place, and BAM, you got a nice little report of your tax filing. This is a must have app.
