2 stars because I can only add 2 languages and pay a lot to Shopify fees on every order I sell and yearly fee and monthly fees. Crazy. The least they could do is help our conversions.

When using "Auto-translate all" in Translate & Adapt, all manually edited translations are overwritten without any warning or confirmation dialog. There is no way to distinguish between auto-generated and manually corrected translations before running the bulk action. This caused significant damage to my store: product descriptions were replaced with wrong content from duplicated products, and customers received mismatched product information. Feature request: Please add a warning before bulk auto-translation that alerts merchants if manual translations exist and will be overwritten. A simple confirmation dialog ("X products have manual translations. These will be overwritten. Continue?") would prevent this issue entirely.

App is fine. What we get as a user is basic features for free. Wish the app allow unlimited number of languages rest everything is much better than third party app .

Translation from English to French is very approximative (Google Translate is really not the best!), plus a lot of punctuation and type case glitches make the app quite annoying. Another thing, when are you going to include translations for images alt text without having to upload new image files for each translation?

The app works fine in terms of translation quality and the interface is simple to use. However, there is a major and poorly explained limitation that makes it very frustrating in real-world use. Shopify Translate & Adapt only allows automatic translation for two languages per store, and it counts any language that already has machine-translated content, even if that content was created using a different app. In my case, Spanish was translated with another app and manually reviewed, but Translate & Adapt still counts it toward the limit. As a result, I cannot use this app to automatically translate a third language (French), even though I never used Shopify Translate for Spanish. This is not a technical bug, but a product limitation that is not clearly communicated, and it can seriously disrupt your translation strategy if you have already invested time in another tool. Use this app only if you are absolutely sure which two languages you want to support from day one. Migrating or combining apps later is much more restrictive than it appears.

Certaines fonctionnalités sont agréables. Pour de petits sites, c'est intéressant. Par contre, pour de plus gros, il y a trop de corrections nécessaires. Par exemple, le signe & reste en code HTML et affiche &. Cette situation est assez problématique.

I was told by the Theme developer that the Translate & Adapt app was necessary to provide a second language (Japanese) to my store, thus installed it. While I appreciate the effort to streamline the translation process and find the search functionality to be indispensable, the automatic translations are impressively horrendous and cannot be used. Not a single one of them. The Japanese translations are very unprofessional in tone and manner and laughably incorrect. Many translations make no sense whatsoever. We spent two months manually translating every single word of text throughout not only the website, but checkout journey and all hardwired communications and finished about 1/2 of the stores translations. Then, we had an issue with the navigation menu not leading to the correct URL, thus contacted Shopify to help. The IT support was able to identify and rectify the issue, but in the troubleshooting process, accidentally pressed the “Auto-translate” button, which then over-rode all of the manual translations that we spent months painstakingly translating. Considering that there is no way to download an Excel spreadsheet for the translations nor is there a way to identify which translation applies to which page without constantly referencing the website while applying the translations, this mistake has set us back tremendously. It is absolutely incomprehensible that Shopify IT support not only has access to that button, but that pressing one button can override ALL of the manual translations. The icing on the cake is that there is no way to reverse the action or revert the code back. USE WITH EXTREME CAUTION!!! To the Shopify Product Managers / UI/UX Team, please consider the following enhancements: 1: Move the location of the “Auto Translate” button to a less conspicuous place. The current placement invites errors and mistakes. 2: Add a confirmation pop-up that clearly explains the ramifications of pressing the button 3: Add a functionality to reverse any changes 4: Add a functionality to restrict usage of this button or grey it out for some users 5: Make a proper user manual and ensure your internal staff know the ramifications of pressing that button
Thanks for trying out the app. A few things in response: - It's not possible to overwrite manual translations with auto-translations. Check your previous theme, it's most likely the translations are there. To migrate them, use this tip: https://community.shopify.com/c/international-commerce/why-did-my-theme-update-erase-most-translations/m-p/2016134/highlight/true#M5948 - Auto-translations come from Google Translate. Other apps use different engines which might be better for Japanese. - Translations can be removed by exporting the CSV, making column H blank, and reuploading with 'Overwrite' ticked. This will get you back to a blank state. Using the tip above after will bring over prior manual translations. - No code is modified by Translate & Adapt.

It was working fine but at some point it completely stopped taking the right references but using for all products the same info. Support could only tell me to manually translate the references or use another app. It is unknown what the bug is due to and if it is fixable

We had already translated our shops main language and ALL tags, labels e.t.c but apparently we can no longer edit this directly in shopify but have to rely on an app that makes this an impossible operation. The app becomes completely useless when it can't translate, or should i say, change the reference text into the same language but to something more suited for the issue

Eine Zeit lang ganz gut, wenn auch im Basic Plan nur 2 Sprachen automatisch. Neuerdings gibt es aber keine Übersetzungen mehr. Ein Update konnten wir noch nicht finden. Wir suchen den Fehler. Hat jemand eine Idee dazu? Danke vorab und Grüße

Spent hours translating my entire site only to find that the language does not automatically switch based on a visitor’s location. So my website is still very much single-language for everyone. What good is a translating app that doesn’t have geolocation? Checked all Help articles and the only geolocation app Shopify links to is no longer available in the App Store. So the Help articles are not even up to date. I then tried to contact support, but all I get is a chat widget with neverending three dots. A very frustrating experience.
Hi there, you can automatically switch languages based on a buyer's preferences. Go to Settings --> Markets --> Preferences --> turn on Language redirection. We do recommend having a way for customers to manually select their language with a drop down in addition to this. If you're using any up to date theme from the Shopify theme store, this comes built into the theme.

I found the following issue with the translation tool: The translation tool doesn't maintain proper spacing when carrying over bold formatting from German to English Example: German (correct): "...aus Bio-Aloe Vera und..." English (incorrect): "...oforganic aloe veraand..." English (should be): "...of organic aloe vera and..." All bold formatted text segments in the English translation lack spaces before and after them This happens consistently with every bold text segment in the translation

Rapide et efficace mais il ne prends pas en charge les URL. Donc le rendu ne fais pas du tout professionnel. Edit en réponse à votre réponse : j'ai 700 produits j'ai autre chose à faire que de renommer les URL une par une , sinon je ne prendrais pas d'App de traduction AUTOMATIQUE.
Translate & Adapt has the ability to translate URLs. See this video to understand how https://youtu.be/1oXLydxjgS8
