We are using the Google & YouTube app for Shopify on our store: https://dolfinos.com/. We noticed that even after updating the app a few weeks ago, the data sent to Google Ads via the Google Tag still contains outdated parameters: • ecomm_pagetype • ecomm_prodid • ecomm_totalvalue From what I understand, these parameters are part of the old tracking format and should have been replaced by the newer event structure after the update. However, they are still being sent, which may affect our tracking and remarketing performance.
Hi! I couldn't find a case or support ticket submitted to us about this. Can you please contact support at https://support.google.com/merchants/contact/shopify_3p_support_app I'm not able to properly troubleshoot or reply publicly with private information or direction to you here, so submitting a support ticket would be preferable to communicating via review. You can also submit support tickets directly from the app in the menu by selecting Contact Support.

Just give me GTM. This newer app sucks. I only need to add a GA tracking ID without logging into a Google account. This used to be easy but not anymore. Thanks for overcomplicating this.
Hi! You are able to add your Google Tag manually without needing to link your ads account or any other services the app provides in the Settings tab of the app. While we do require a Google Account on install to authorize and validate your access, you won't need to connect any additional accounts if you don't want to and can simply just use the GTM functionality. Here's the Help Center article for reference, located at step 3 under "Just want to set up Google Analytics?" https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/16030792?&zippy=%2Cjust-want-to-set-up-google-analytics#zippy=%2Cjust-want-to-set-up-google-analytics Step 3 of 3: Add your Google tag for Analytics manually (Alternative) 1. In the Google & YouTube app, navigate to the “Settings” page. 2. In the “Google tags” section click Manage. 3. You can manually add Google tags for additional Google Analytics properties (or other Google services). 4. When you are done, click Save. 5. Click Complete setup.

My main gripe with this app is the lack of server-side tracking, it's 2025 people! This limitation isn’t clearly communicated, and many users likely aren’t aware of it. For an app of this size and importance, the decision to exclude server-side tracking feels like a significant design oversight. While I’ll have to create a custom solution for my own events anyway, it’s disappointing to see Google take such a limited approach on this front. Cheers, Aldert
