Monster Cart Upsell+ Free Gift

Terrible app. I was a client for quite a while and wish I had tapped out sooner. We experienced multiple bugs and glitches that the team repeatedly approached with bandaid fixes, only for the same problems to return soon after. These issues ended up costing us a significant amount in lost sales, as many of them directly affected the cart, including items duplicating in quantity or the cart freezing. We also found that these issues were causing our ATC events to be overcounted, which had a significant impact on the data being carried over to our advertising platforms. The last straw was when the issue happened AGAIN, except this time the cart quantity was not only duplicating, but tripling after selecting ATC just once across our products. We had a sale running at the time, and customer service told us we would need to wait 12–24 hours for their devs to "look into it". We simply could not afford to wait that long, especially when this same issue had already returned multiple times. By the time they got back to me, I had already switched over to a much more reliable cart app. Their proposed fix was that they now had a new V2 version of the app and recommended that I install that instead. Fantastic. That was the solution after the bug had already returned multiple times and impacted our conversions for who knows how long. We also received complaints directly from customers about issues with the cart, so this feedback was not isolated to what we were seeing internally. What further confirmed the issue for us was that only a few days after switching cart apps, our ATC rate normalised despite similar traffic volume, and our conversion rate improved significantly. We are a 7-figure brand, and I am confident in saying that we potentially lost thousands of dollars in sales from the same issue occurring without us even knowing. I am just glad our customers were there to point out the cart issues when they happened. Terrible app. I was a client for over a year and wish I had tapped out sooner. This app sounded affordable at first, but the issues it caused ultimately cost us far more than we ever saved by using it.
App is blocking the zoom feature on my store from working on mobile. I found this out by disabling all app embeds and restoring them one by one, testing the zoom feature each time. When I enabled this app, the zoom feature went away again. Reached out to customer service and that was useless. Decided to uninstall the app and found a free alternative while searching.
Hey team.. This would be a simple theme fix 😅. However you never reached out to support for this issue. Please reach out and we would be happy to help 🥰 I do see cart clashed with another upsell app that was resolved quickly. Hope we can make this right if you reached out again. Our app replaces the need for the tier app on your store and another app... Feel free to reach out again if you want. Ty - Co founder Monster
The discount calculation is weird and shows up differently in check out. I had so many customers asking. The App has lots of bugs and a very bad support. I moved to Unicorn Cart eventually.
Hey team.. you were on the older Version of the app. Version 2 is a whole new experience with a powerful suite of offers and flexibility. Sorry to hear about your experience. As you can see reading other reviews.. we normally get the opposite feedback. Don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything from us.. or want to try the new app. Ty.. Co-Founder of Monster
They charege based on ALL your orders in your store - doesent matter if the conversations are made throughou their app.
Hey team - yes we charge on order volume due to the nature of our app helping increase conversions and AOV on every sale.
malisima atencion al cliente y despues no puedes ni cambiar colores, ni poner regalos ni nada
Customer service does not answer or help me with my issue.
Hey there... I'm not sure why our response emails have not have reached you. I see you are asking for us to remove a pop-up on your store. Unfortunately we do not have any pop-ups that are added to stores through our apps. When you remove our app.. everything will be removed the app does. The pop-up you have on store may be controlled by an email app installed or potentially something setup within shopify. Your original question: "I have deleted your app from my store but it still keeps the pop up in my home page and I cannot find where to delete it. I need assistance here, how can I get it away? A third party consultant installed the app and made the pop-up which I am not satisfied as it is not representing my brand."
We're looking at switching apps. This cart plugin has given away way too much for free to our customers. For example, if we have discount codes created in shopify and we have our monster cart setup to give a free gift if you spend $79, it's calculating the RRP and then giving the free item (worth $35) even after the client has used a 40% off code which brings their ACTUAL cart total down to $47.40 (not $79) but monster cart is still allowing them to get the $35 free gift. We now have to honour this and have lost out hugely on this. Their support is almost non-existent and I have had to work most of my issues out on my own because I get back emails saying things like "that's unfortunately not a feature we have", even though I've (in some cases) figured out a way around it myself.
Sorry the fix wasn't available at the time. Since we have rebuilt the entire app from scratch with all Shopify best practices. Love to welcome you back
A lot of glitches are there, and when you contact the customer care their response is really pathetic. You have to wait for 24 hour in order to get a proper response from the dev team. Considering the app cost I won't recommend this app to anyone else
I can see you also had custom features you wanted live. The team works tirelessly during these holiday periods and we do not have the freedom just do custom work for you specifically. Sorry it didn't work out. Ty - Monster co-founder
This is the worst app! It was recommended by a team that's helping me with the website, the cart was changed to this one before Black Friday, the app works for certain people but for others don't. We got complaints from clients that couldn't add items to cart and when we test some of us could, some of us couldn't and this happened in the busiest time of the year. DO NOT USE!
Sorry to hear this!!!! 😅 We were in 1000% help mode throughout this period to help with any theme, App incompatibility or cart issues anyone might have. Looking back i couldn't see any messages from your team. Unfortunately it's hard to pinpoint exactly what may have happened without getting to do a deeper dive. Sometimes there can be issues with conflicting themes, carts and other apps that we can't solve without investigating further. If you decide to download the app again please feel free to reach out and let us know what you are facing here.
Worst support we've received from any app provider over the past five years we've been on Shopify. The app was breaking our 'Add to Cart' button so that when it was clicked, nothing would happen. It would take quite a few clicks at times to add an item to the cart, and even then our old cart would load, not the MonsterUpsell version. I sent a screen sharing video to support regarding the issue, and they said they'd get back to me in 24-48 hours. 48 hours past, so I followed up to see what the status was. Here's the response I received, "Our dev team and even the head dev already checked the issue and tried their best to make our app work in your store. But unfortunately, we can't support your theme and therefore we can't do anything from our end." Disappointing for sure, but I was understanding, until I went to uninstall the app, and saw that the dev team chose to leave the app enabled on our LIVE theme when they knew it was breaking our 'Add to Cart' button. First of all, they should have been testing the app on a backup theme that was not published/live, and second of all, they should have immediately disabled the app once they confirmed they couldn't fix the issue. That's just basic, developer 101 type of stuff. It just shows how little they care about their customers. I'll be finding another in-cart upsell app, and I recommend you do the same.
Ty here one of the founders... 🥲🥲 Store owners are the heart of our business and the team works hard to support as best they can... (see past reviews) Trust me - it kills us to hear this kind of feedback. 😅 -- Yes totallllllyyy agree... Testing on backup themes is our normal standard operating procedure. I'll be chasing down how and why this situation played out. -- As for compatibility... Unfortunately yes... your theme clashes with the loading of our app. This is a rare situation. We had our main devs on it for 2 days straight and couldn't solve it. Sorry - wish I had a better answer here. 🥲🥲
I canceled the plugin, but they still charged me on my monthly bill. I emailed them requesting a refund, but they haven't responded for five days. I was considering whether to reinstall it in the future, but their attitude has left me disappointed.
Hey team - Sorry im not so sure you received the emails? We did get back to you. Also the refunds were sorted. Please let me know we can do anything else here.
Unfortunately this app broke my website for all Safari users, which is the majority of my clients. I've been paying a lot of money in marketing while my clients are not able to do checkouts
We have 1000's of stores using Monster seamlessly on all browsers and 100's of themes. I see you never reached out to the support team for help 😢. Sorry to hear this is your experience with your store. We are always here to work with integrations. If you reinstall... please reach out to team the team.
