Given this was supposed to be a great new partnership between Shopify and Pinterest, my experience has been abysmal. Customer support is literally non-existent. Whilst I had no issues setting up, our account was persistently rejected before even going live for being in violation of Pinterest Ts&Cs. We reviewed repeatedly, but nowhere could we find a violation. When Pinterest email you to tell you that you are in violation, they do not specify how or what this violation is, only that you must submit an appeal once you have made changes - and herein lies the difficulty. What changes are you supposed to make if they don't tell you what is wrong? If the system is good enough to identify a violation, surely it is good enough to tell us what that is. Contact with Pinterest on Twitter explaining the issue got us nowhere. Contact with Pinterest on here got us nowhere. Appeals got us nowhere. So all in this has been a massive waste of time which for a small business owner is something we simply do not have. I therefore cannot recommend this add-on to anyone and would suggest you go and spend your time doing literally anything else but this.
Total rubbish. Installed ok, but everything about this app is centered around advertising and giving them money, you cannot even install it unless they've had your credit card details. Constantly not uploading products as you are instantly in violation of their policies on just about every matter you can think of, from delivery to returns policies. Sorry, but if my policies are good enough for google, facebook, instagram, and not least myself, who has great pride in my own business then you (Pinterest) can take a hike. You're not so important and high-horsed that we fall at your feet.
We thought engaging with Pinterest would have been beneficial to growing sales. Little did we know...but Pinterest was collecting all our customers emails addresses in the process. Our mistake as we assumed Pinterest be product and pin driven. Support and Pinterest ads were claiming our data was their data and doubling counting Google Ads as Pinterest Ads. The analytics in Pinterest and Shopify also did not match. Our biggest disappointment was the data harvesting.
My Pinterest tag is not working and I've made sure it was not in any code on my website, just through this app. No one has been able to fix this for me, so my business remains "unverified" on Pinterest.
This is not a serious business for serious people. When one of our ecommerce Pinterest accounts with hundreds of pins and a year of paid ads was randomly suspended for "spam", we spent a month of emails with two customer service reps. They told us that their supervisors were too busy to talk to them (or us) and the "Spam" team could not be contacted. Eventually they threw their hands up and said they could not help us. They directed us to their generic "troubleshooting" page -- to try to figure out for ourselves why their filters were suspending our account! Their sales staff are eager to sell, but customer service is basically run by untrained hacks who cannot help you. They don't care about your business - why would you spend thousands of dollars on ads with them and thousands of hours creating Pins? Take my advice - do not go down this road.
I've reached out a number of times, but have never heard back from Pinterest about this app's failure to connect with my shop. It says my merchant account isn't approved. When I click the link to submit an appeal (and why do I even need to appeal something that used to be connected fine?) it returns a page error saying the page has permanently moved. Frustrating and BROKEN. No customer service.
I received most consistent traffic to my shop. Also, the initial promotional gift was nice. I didn't know how much influence Pinterest has on shoppers. UPDATE: Merchant Support has been extremely disappointing. I loved the Pinterest sales channel until now... Instead of communicating to fix something minor on your site before a deadline, they remove your merchant status 1st! This makes you look fraudulent to your Pin followers and anywhere your Pin profile has been shared. It literally took 2 mins to change what they wanted but it took 3 support agents and 2 days for someone to state exactly what was needed instead of being told to "read the guidelines." Received an email that the merchant status was restored but, our catalog feed doesn't load to Pinterest even though it hasn't been altered on our side in 2 yrs. The shopify app states the feed is active and connected to pinterest but the pinterest biz page says error-no ingestion for over a week now with no steps provided to resolve. The support agent repeated "read the guidelines," there's an issue with the feed and to make (unstated) changes. They gave no exact details of what to fix. Then we received another email: "Please complete any outstanding steps, if any, so you can submit your application to the Verified Merchant Program" but the link only goes to to the pinterest home page! They make you play a mystery game of "what will fix the mystery issue?" I guess I'm expecting support to want to help resolve but it comes off as dismissive.
Within about an hour installing this app. Pinterest suspended my merchant account for violating spam policies. I appealed and still got denied.
I've been trying to get this app to work for weeks but haven't been able to get my account approved (multiple appeals now.) They say my shipping policy is not clear and it's hard to find. But it's actually in two places on my homepage, on my header AND footer menu, and it's a pretty straight forward policy.
My account got suspended almost immediately after I installed this app and tried to create a campaign. I followed instructions and now cannot access my pinterest account.
My account got disabled a few hours after I installed this app. I do not recommend to use this app for this reason.
I installed it twice because I was getting this message..."Pinterest is not connected to a business account. Connect an account to continue using this app." It is connected to a biz acct. So not sure why the error is occurring. I had to remove it, as it just wasn't working.
The app suddenly stopped working. I cant click on it because it creates a never ending loop of opening and closing some sort of URL. Pinterest support takes MONTHS (yes actual months) to respond to you. I had issues with the app and integration multiple times and received a response from support 13 weeks later.
The Pinterest app advertised through Shopify's app store looked to be a great option for the types of products we offer (digital and canvas photo collages and designs). There have been many issues since reporting the first trouble ticket June 17, 2020. The provided support channels were used for both Shopify and Pinterest to report new issues and check status for open issues. The app's performance in the Shopify admin had a glitch. It would not work at all in Safari, and Chrome eventually stopped too. The app was tested on mobile and desktop experiences. A ticket was submitted to Shopify. The app needed to be un-installed and re-installed. There were ingestion errors on Pinterest's side. It was a technical error with no information listed in the error report. Pinterest said they would research it and get back ASAP. It was sent to engineers after the first couple levels of support couldn't figure it out. Status checks were done multiple times to see what progress was with the ingestion issues. No timeline for correction has been provided, the responses were left at "ASAP." It took 2.5 weeks to resolve the initial "technical error" on their side. Then there was an issue with products not showing as pins. The guidelines note less than 10 products won't be featured, but there were 10 products selected for the Pinterest sales channel. Pinterest support asked us to add more. We did. This resolved the issue of product information being ingested into Pinterest, but only product information transferred. Another issue started. The next issue is product options, most importantly, product pricing information not importing. This issue is ongoing. UPDATE 7.29.2020. A total 6 weeks have passed, and there is no working shopping experience for Pinterest through this app. There is also no ETA for when it'll work. Weekly contact has been made with someone at Pinterest support trying to get updates. The latest suggestion was to delete all product variants. We pointed out that meant there would be no way for the store to sell a product because a variant is associated with its price. We attempted to clarify the suggestion from Pinterest by asking if they were suggesting to duplicate the product many times over with a one price option. We mentioned this would most likely confuse customers. Having a Pinterest business account has been great for brand awareness. Having the app from Pinterest through Shopify has not been pleasant. Support is difficult to reach. Suggestions from support personnel are not conducive to running an online business. Support is online only, there are no additional options to resolve the concerns.
Our account was banned right after installing this App. We didn't use pinterest much in the past, so we had round about 10 Pins and two boards in total. Notheless, the account was deactivated instantly without a warning or any reasoning. That is the most terrible shopify App experience ever.
Installed on June 6 and it has never worked. Contacted support and was told the features I have been trying to use (Shopify sales channel and Instagram import) are or have been deprecated. I am not a Pinterest user, and all I wanted was to allow Pinterest users to Pin my images, and this experience has been so terrible I will never use Pinterest.
Only I have troubles to connect all the time I tried? Now, a month ago, 2 month ago and still didn't get luck..
I keep getting the error messages: "Too few of the Product IDs included in your Add to Cart events match the Product IDs in your Catalog" and "Too few of the Product IDs included in your Checkout events match the Product IDs in your Catalog." I emailed [email protected], so I'm hoping they can help me resolve the issue.
Same thing happened to me. The app also told me I didn't follow Pinterest guidelines. The app has not worked from day one. I do still have my Pinterest account and there is no notification there at all.
If I could leave a negative review, I would! When I first try to link my products listing 8 months ago to Pinterest using an official third party app from Shopify and the help of the Pinterest team, I got my account banned the second after it started working. And the technical support that had been helping me just stopped answering my messages. It took me 8 months to have them recognise their mistake and reactivate my account, during which I went from nearly half a million views per month to a couple thousands. As I thought it was all sorted now, I tried installing the app but never got it to work, and reading other reviews, I decided to give up as I don't want to have my account banned again for no reason. That's really a shame, not to mention that when they reestablished my account it sounded like "oups we made a mistake" but no apologies for the business loss and absolutely no explanations. Which is a bit light considering the prejudice. So think about it twice before installing the app, if it goes wrong there is no customer support and not only you'll be banned but all existing pins pointing at your domain will be labelled and showcased to others (human and bots) users as spam, you won't even get access to your accounting info if you advertised with Pinterest.
