When we were using Recharge our customers had trouble logging in. Then once logged in would occasionally get 404 errors. They thought we were scamming them. In addition, ReCharge would accidentally drop billing info and then customers would try to login and couldn't and it was just an overall nightmare....thankfully my business partners discovered Skio and we switched over and all of these issues are a thing of the past. I can actually get back to growing my business versus playing ReCharge clean up.

Skio is a great up and coming player in the subscription platform space. After evaluating other providers (e.g. Recharge, Bold, etc.), Skio was by far the easiest to implement both from a front-end & back-end perspective and the least complicated / fastest platform from a CX efficiency perspective. Additionally, the integrated native checkout, password-less account login & family-plan referral system are amazing features that you can't find elsewhere. Kennan & the Skio team have been amazing to work with - extremely responsive & quick to roll out new requested features. While the analytics aspect of Skio is currently lacking, it's in the product roadmap and with the pace that they roll-out improvements & features - I have no hesitation to recommend the platform 100% even without robust analytic tools.

We've had a very bad experience with Skio, so please beware. First off, Skio is missing core functionality (exporting customers, limited variable data for notifications, limited ability to set rules around charge dates) - we requested that functionality during the 6 months that we were using Skio, but were told that not enough other customers were asking for it. The bigger issue was that Skio accidentally charged customers who had previously canceled their subscriptions. On top of that, Skio also continued to send renewal emails to our customers with broken links months after we offboarded from Skio and moved to Recharge. Skio is a new company and I hope they continue to improve their product, but we had to move off because of the missing functionality, continued mess-ups that eroded customer trust, and lack of accountability to get it right next time.
We've reached out to the merchant here to see if we can make this right. I would be annoyed as well in their shoes. Long story short, we should've rain-checked working with Burlap & Barrel until we were certain we could handle their use case of doing quarterly billing and custom anchoring logic (along with other requests). At the time we started working with them, I was doing everything on my own (we've now raised $3.7M and have an actual team). Given Burlap & Barrel's above use case is not common, it was a mistake for me when I was alone to commit to handling this. After having this experience, we now always make sure we can make a potential customer happy before committing to working together. The core features mentioned as missing are actually all available in our product now (this review is based on outdated information). The renewal email mess-up mentioned here were notifications that were set to enabled not properly checking if a merchant was off-boarded. This is now fixed. Again, totally makes sense why they weren't happy here. It was my responsibility to say we weren't a good fit and I blew it. We're now much better at saying this :-) -Kennan

We're excited to grow our business w/ Skio. It's a new platform - so it has some rough edges - but it's already vastly better for our customers than Recharge (where we migrated from). And the team is shipping updates/upgrades to the platform every day, it seems like. Have had a great experience working with the team so far. They are super responsive and receptive to feedback.

Skio fixes all the problems we were having with that other subscription partner. Its seamless interface is so easy to use, which allows us to provide the best subscription experience to our customers. The team is awesome and I'd recommend Skio to companies looking to make the switch or adding subscription to their sites for the first time.

Works really well. There's certainly some more features on our wishlist but the support team are responsive and it converts better than other subscription solutions we've experimented with.

Ive used Bold Subscriptions and Recharge before, I much prefer Skio, The back end is simple and the no password login is so much better than a typical password solution, especially for a site people only log in to once or twice a year.

I use to use recharge and the service became garbage when we switched over to dawn x shopify 2.0 Skio cleaned up, dont look anywhere else as this is the best service out there for subscriptions

ReCharge Checkout and all its curses on our conversions are a thing of the past! Skio keeps your subscription purchases in Shopify native checkout. The team at Skio made the transition as smooth as it could be, and made sure our migration of 3700+ subscriptions went through without a hitch. They are super quick to respond to requests and to help troubleshoot. The customer login experience is far easier than what we used to have with ReCharge. Haven't seen the group subscriptions discount with friends materialize into much yet but that's probably just because it's too soon. We considered switching to Bold, OrderGroove and Skio. In the end Skio got our business. May ReCharge rest in peace.

So glad we found Skio and switched from Bold subscriptions. It's night and day difference in terms of usability both on the back end and the customer side. We were running into all sorts of problems with shipping rates and customers not being able to log into their accounts, but Skio solved all of that. The personal support and help with the migration has been awesome too! Skio is the future for anyone doing subscriptions on Shopify.

Subscriptions are a big deal and we evaluated a lot of different subscription management apps - Skio brought the most to the table. Kennan and Liam are very responsive and easy to work with. Skio has a nice interface for customers and we are very happy that we made the switch - recommend very highly

Solution is nice compare to other solutions such as recharge and few other solutions, however this app does not support all themes. Also code / documentation they provide is not very well developed to solve the errors with in-house dev team, adding snippets to theme files based on instruction generates errors and not let the app work properly. Also it does not support multilang either which is another downside of this app.
Hey there - thanks for trying our 60 day free trial! Just to clarify, we support all themes. That being said, there are many themes out there and the 1-size-fits-all code sometimes needs a little tweaking. In terms of multi-currency in the portal, that's something we're adding in the near future! Would be happy to keep you posted (and have reached out via email directly as well). Just started the process to switch over from Recharge, really liking the app so far. The UI is much cleaner and easier to understand. The customer has a better experience on their end as well. Kennan from Skio was very helpful with the installation process, he took care of it all and got the app working properly. Will continue testing for a bit and then migrate over all the Recharge customers.
