I've had the app installed for just over two weeks. Since installing the app, my traffic from Search has dropped 50%. The jury is still out, but this does not bode well. I also think the app leaves a tremendous number of things off the table. If I run a free site audit from another service, all kinds of fixable stuff appears that I would have no idea about if I was relying solely on the Yoast app. It seems that all this app really does is act like a kind of Grammarly for SEO, but it asserts itself (from a technical standpoint and a marketing standpoint) as the be-all-end-all SEO solution—and this is problematic because I'm guessing it doesn't exactly play nice with the other SEO apps you might need to actually have a complete SEO game. After committing to this app and spending a lot of hours on it, I'm finding it very dispiriting. And that's really the worst part.

So far so good. Ran into some minor google search console issues that I couldn't find the exact Shopify documentation for (found WordPress instructions)..I reached out to Yoast Shopify support and they did a fantastic job in helping me solve the problem quickly.

There was a small glitch that changed our google rich snippets for reviews, but the Yoast support was super helpful in fixing the issue

yoast ist auf jedenfall empfehlenswert, die app unterstützt auf recht einfache und effiziente weise das SEO. wir sind derzeit im aufbau des shops und haben leider noch sehr wenig verkäufe, desshalb kommt für mich diese investition nicht - oder nocht nicht - in frage.

Highly impressed by the performance and results of Yoast SEO Premium for WordPress; we were excited to add Yoast for Shopify too. It works, as we expected, like a charm. Have to commend the Yoast support team, specifically Sid, who was ready at hand with superb advice even over weekends both before and during the installation, guiding us with detailed explanations and screenshots. When we needed a theme code inspection and change, the development team delivered a highly impressive lightning-fast solution on top. All in all, we’re extremely satisfied with Yoast on both platforms. It's easy to use, with a lot of SEO benefits. As another review stated, Yoast support will not leave you until you are fully satisfied.

The tool is easy to use and even within a few weeks I'm starting to see an impact. As well as this the support is really really good.. it's hard to know what to trust in terms of data and errors so the support & academy are just as valuable as the underlying tool in navigating all this

The app definitely teaches you a lot about SEO. You still need to enter everything yourself, it's not going to do it for you- as it shouldn't, but it's very helpful with letting you know when you're doing something right- or wrong. I had a few questions, and "Sid" of the support team got back to me in great detail, with screenshots etc. I like it when support is that thorough, and not just with a few sentences.

I’ve always pushed SEO to the back of my mind as a micro business, but since downloading Yoast it’s been extremely easy to implement SEO changes to my site. The online chat support has been great so far, Michael did a great job with my problem, thanks!

Would be much more helpful if all the steps were automatic. Now it takes lots of time to fix everything, and it doesn't guarantee that everything is working right.

Regarding your point about all the steps being automatic, though it is totally understandable, and we do have some parts automated, we'd like to clarify that this is not the best approach for SEO. SEO is more of a marathon rather than a sprint. It works in a dynamic way, so simply automatically filling-in data is not optimization, something that the always-evolving search engine algorithms can identify. This is where our app comes in and helps you learn SEO, write great content and be technically compliant with search engine requirements and suggestions for your store to be displayed with enhanced "rich" search results. This can lead to improved ranking and increased organic traffic. That said, we would love to learn more about your needs and expectations, so our team will reach out to you soon in order to discuss how we can improve our app further. Before installing this app, I read the reviews. The common theme amongst the 3-star and lower reviews were issues with theme changes. Our experience wasn't much different. Let me say the support team has been incredibly responsive to my questions and support requests. If it were simply a matter of the helpfulness of the people at Yoast, we would have kept the app. Unfortunately though, our custom theme is such that every time we made a change, something kept Yoast from functioning as it should. It became a 'tail wagging the dog' situation that required too much time and effort to manage. I have Yoast for WordPress and LOVE IT. They definitely know what they're doing with SEO, but unfortunately, it isn't a good fit for my Shopify store.
UPDATE: We'd like to inform you (and anyone reading this review) that as of May 16th, 2023, our app offers the option to be installed without removing conflicting code. As a result, our app does not modify your theme code the same way as before, and though that reduces the benefits of using our app (no Yoast output in the source), it also allows you to use the Yoast SEO analysis options for content optimization regardless if our app is integrated with your theme or not. Therefore, if you wish you can use our app for content optimization only, without full theme integration. Thank you for sharing your feedback, we sincerely appreciate it. To your point about the common theme among the 3-star and lower reviews, it’s important to note that almost all eight of those (except for one in April ‘22) were shared in the first 3 months after we launched the app in January '22. This is because after launching the app there were a few issues that our dev team had to address. Since then we have continued working hard to successfully and consistently earn 5-star reviews. We do understand that there is an issue with our app and the custom theme changes on your store that is taking too much time and effort to manage. We respect your decision that the Yoast SEO for Shopify app is not a good fit for your store, but please keep in mind that we are always developing and improving it. Simply the best app for SEO with an amazing extra that is the SEO Academy. By following their tutorials, in a few weeks I got incredible results on Google. Moreover the Yoast SEO support is definitely one of the best I ever experienced. Highly recommended.

All I can say is WOW! I have been emailing back and forth with Yoast for a few days now for help. Every time they emailed me back it was more than help; it was over-the-top help. I use Yoast for optimising content. Yoast provides easy steps to increase SEO for all pages. I like the easy integration, support and the wealth of information available... The app is amazing and easy to use. The tech support is second to none. They go out of their way to answer all your questions superbly.

Yoast is great other than whenever i'm typing the descriptions it will sometimes randomly delete or move letters throughout the paragraph.

I enjoyed using the app. The application is very intuitive and almost like a game. You want to achieve the highest number of points in terms of SEO for all texts. I uninstalled it because unfortunately I don't want to afford the purchase price at the moment. Thank you for supporting the uninstall.

Please do reach out to us with any additional questions or concerns, we are happy to help. That being said, leftover code usually remains if the app is uninstalled without completing the right process, which requires first deactivation of the app to remove theme modifications and then deletion of the app. Or if another (usually SEO-related) app interfered with the process. If you haven't already, please reference our page with Yoast SEO app uninstall instructions: https://yoast.com/help/remove-yoast-code-from-theme-in-shopify/ Here are next troubleshooting steps to take: 1. Re-install the Yoast SEO app on your site. 2. Instead of "Get a subscription," click on "Remove theme modifications.". Please wait until the process is finished. 3. Click on Go back to Apps and then Remove the app again. Once you've done this, the Yoast SEO code should be completely removed. In case you have another SEO app installed, it would be best to remove that first before proceeding with the steps above, as other SEO apps may interfere with the proper uninstallation process of Yoast SEO.
