company violates shopify subscription policy, and makes cancellation nearly impossible. Had to reinstall and go through a process that was not previously available to "uninstall". I have sent countless emails requesting cancellations and they still charge our account. I also had to reinstall the app just to leave this review, and now will uninstall.

We migrated from Bigcommerce to Shopify. Since we migrated over a large number of order, there we some questions about fees. Stephan helped me get everything sorted out. We used Rewind on our Bigcommerce store and we are thrilled to be able to continue to use Rewind with Shopify. Great support. Very helpful!!

I always install this app in my personal projects, and I also have my clients install it. I believe it is essential for any serious business to have an automatic backup of everything, so that they can recover a very recent version of only what is necessary at any given time. Terrible experience with Rewind I’ve had this app for over 4 years and honestly, it’s been nothing but disappointing. In all that time, I only needed to use it once—and it failed completely. Their response? An apology and two months of free credit, which didn’t come close to covering the huge amount of work we lost. To make matters worse, they quietly increased the subscription from $3 to $19 without ever notifying us. We ended up paying this massive price hike without even knowing. On top of that, the app is full of bugs. Just yesterday, our store (surface-2-air-sports.myshopify.com) couldn’t even connect because of an ERR_BLOCKED_BY_RESPONSE error. Bottom line: Do not waste your money on Rewind. It’s unreliable, overpriced, and not worth the risk.

This was our first such adjustment in many years and we did build communications around it so that it wouldn't come as a shock. Whatever the case, we wish you well, and strongly encourage you to keep a backup and recovery solution in place—even if it isn’t Rewind.

The only time I ever needed to revert to a back-up due to a coding mix-up, I learned it was not automatic and I needed to contact someone to do it. With response times taking 2 days each time, it was quite frustrating. You can imagine, when you need to revert your website due to a coding error, you want it to revert asap. I ended up just hiring a coder to fix it. That said, I decided to continue using the app as a fail-safe, just in case. However, with their recent announcement that they are taking a *100%* price increase (yes, 100%) next month, I am moving on to another backup app. I get the cost of business is going up, but for an app with no COGs, no Tariffs, etc, a 100% increase is ridiculous. Bye bye.

We’re sorry this didn’t go as quickly as you needed. Rewind backs up and restores themes—including .liquid code—and in most stores, recovery is automated, requiring just a few clicks. In some cases, custom code and ongoing code changes can make an automated rollback more involved. In these cases, we aim to move fast to help. If we missed the mark here, we apologize.

1. prices got higer, but ok. Everythings getting more expensive 2. i tried to import a csv and tested it first. With a few products. Some of them have variants. After I saw the import failed and the variants are gone, I restored it with rewind. After that, the variants were back, but with wrong inventory. After asking AI how to backup and restore the inventory amount etc. as well, it says it´s not possible at all. But on the website it says, this tool does backup the inventory as well. So, higher prices for less than promised. Now I am not sure if i can rely on other things as well... lets see what the support can tell here.

Rewind does back up and restore products, variants, images, and much more, and in most cases, restoring is seamless and only takes a few clicks. You're right that inventory is not backed up. This is a Shopify API limitation. Every store setup is a little different, which can occasionally affect how restores behave. I would strongly caution anyone considering this app. After years of paying for their service, I discovered I had been overcharged more than 50% above the publicly listed plan price for nearly 80 months. The company never informed me of this “silent” price change, and when I raised the issue, they insisted it was correct — despite their own archived website and Shopify App Store listings proving otherwise. To make matters worse, they recently announced yet another price increase, even though the first one was never communicated transparently. Their explanations shifted, citing plans that simply never existed, which only undermines confidence further. This kind of billing practice feels dishonest and predatory, especially toward long-time customers who trusted them. After this experience, my trust in this company is completely gone. There are other backup apps available on Shopify that offer the same features at the advertised prices — I’d recommend exploring those instead.

Not worth it. We have paid for over 3 years and never needed to use it once. Canceled due to a 533% price increase (from $3 to $19/month), with no noticeable improvement in value. Sudden price hikes like this break trust, especially for a "just-in-case" app. Hope this feedback helps others make an informed decision.

Data disasters happen all the time. We're glad you've never experienced one and we hope you never do. You don't have to use Rewind but we would caution that having a backup—and a way to restore data seamlessly in event of a disaster—is a must. Rewind is about preparedness and knowing that if you ever have a problem, you have a clear, quick path to get back to business as usual.

We’ve been using Rewind Backups for about a month, and it’s been a great experience so far. We accidentally uploaded a SKU spreadsheet to the wrong store, but thanks to Rewind we were able to quickly revert and avoid any issues.

I wanted insurance that all my long hours building a replacement Shopify store would not be lost. Rewind just worked in the background with a weekly reassuring backup summary email. Until I trusted some AI liquid coding advice too blindly and needed to restore three different templates. The process was self explanatory, easy to understand without any need for documentation or contact with support. When it came time to replace my site, things became a bit tangled with my confusion and Shopify's back-end. Everything was finally straightened out but my new store was not able to be backed up via Rewind anymore. After a few very prompt, patient, support emails, it was suggested a zoom call would be the best way forward. It was nice to put a face to Stephan, who had mainly been supporting my issues, and that remote support session put things right; all very friendly and professional. I'm now looking forward to quiet background backups once again, where I get my work done but secure in knowing if something happens I've got a tested recourse. Thank you everybody at Rewind.

We’re sorry to hear you felt the cancellation process was unclear. For security reasons, cancellations can only be made by a store admin. This is intentional, and in line with best practices like zero trust and least privilege access. While that extra step may be inconvenient, it’s there to prevent unauthorized changes to critical apps like backups. We’ll continue to look for ways to make the process clearer.

There are other better options. Some of our SKUs got corrupted due to an incorrect file upload. The back-up restore feature did not work.When we contacted support, there was no response. When they need to increase your plan and charge more money, they seem to have enough resources for that. This app has proved to be useless to us. Find someone else.

A week ago, while connecting Shopify to JTL Wawi using the JTL Connector app, I lost all my product data. I was extremely frustrated. The JTL Connector app overwrote all the product data in Shopify with empty rows. A complete disaster! I honestly don't understand why JTL doesn't have a built-in security mechanism for this. Anyway... Luckily, I had recently activated Rewind Backups. When I used the last backup to restore, I was disappointed to discover that Rewinds doesn't save or restore automated backups of the product meta fields I had spent a long time and painstakingly creating. Oh no! My frustration was even greater. Was all the data really lost? When I contacted Rewinds Support, wondering if there was any way to salvage my many meta fields, I immediately received extremely friendly assistance. A huge THANK YOU to Bianca and Stephan. Within 5 days, all the lost data was restored. Hallelujah! As I subsequently learned, automated restoration of meta fields is currently not possible with Rewind's backup. Rewind requires manual intervention. But they do it brilliantly. So, anyone who loses their data (especially product meta fields) but has a Rewind backup should take a deep breath and contact the support team. Miracles still happen. Dear Rewind team, thank you so much for the amazing help. Absolutely fantastic! Thanks for everything. Best regards.

After doing a backup, certain in-text images did not get restored. Contacted support, although they were nice, could not fix the issue and said that Rewind Backups does not include these images. I had to manually fix many, many product pages and put these images back. Then, a few weeks later these images were again removed, without doing a backup. Again, this is costing us many hours of manual work to restore these images. We had a paid subscription and expected better performance. If you are looking for an app that restores ALL aspects of your site, including all images, then don't use this app.

Thank you for your feedback and sorry for the hassle you experienced with restoring images. To clarify, Rewind backs up and restores the exact HTML of your product descriptions, along with images that are properly attached to Shopify resources like products, variants, and collections. In your case, some of the images were added as standalone media via hard-coded URLs, which unfortunately means they weren’t linked to Shopify objects and couldn’t be included in the backup. The best way to ensure full image coverage is to upload them using Shopify’s image picker. That way, the images are “attached” and Rewind can capture and restore them automatically.
