Rewind Backups
All reviews
We thought this app will cost 9 USD a month... now we paid for long time around 40 to 50 USD ...
Restore was blocked for 4 days in our other store. Nobody available for help over the weekend. I also don't like you cannot restore specific items. You either restore ALL blog posts or none, ALL products or none, ALL collections or none and so. Switching to other app.
Thank you for sharing this feedback. We understand the frustration of a restore not performing as expected. To clarify on the restore options: Rewind offers both granular, item-level restores and account-level restores. We've reached out regarding your other store, and our support team has fully restored your Shopify store content. We're here if there's anything else we can help with.
We lost our Website in Mar 26 while we were away. The 'bug' in the software was from Orderly emails. Rewind helped us recover our website from the backups taken by their product. A couple of learning from this exercise might help our customers:- 1. The entire website is not backup probably because some of the linkages is in Shopify code rather than within the database. 2. This would mean what we had to do - manual fixes. 3. You can get a file from Rewind that has some technical data on it for your own backup, however, unless you have access to a Shopify type test environment and a strong programming background, its pointless. In an environment where there are many vendors, Shopify and 3rd party Shopify approved vendors, what we have come to realise is that onus to fix the issue on a single suppier, is largely "absent". If the backup from Rewind does not work or fails to restore the site, the customer is on their own.
We appreciate you sharing your experience. Losing your store is stressful, and we're glad that Rewind's recovery brought your site back. You're right that some items in Shopify, such as menu navigation, will require manual configuration if you want to restore them. To help clarify this, we have a Knowledge Base article on what Rewind backs up and restores for Shopify: https://help.rewind.com/hc/en-us/articles/27722238895003-What-does-Rewind-backup-for-Shopify We hear your feedback about the export of your backup data, and we appreciate your open communication as you worked through your store recovery with our support team. If there's anything else we can help with, you can always reach us at [email protected].
was free, they charged me 160 euros. not recommended
Thank you for sharing your feedback. Regarding the pricing update, we provided advanced notice via email to keep customers informed before the change. This was our first price increase in many years, and it reflects substantial added value through continued investments in our product reliability and security. If you have any questions, our support team is available at [email protected].
I have installed the app then cancelled the app in trial period. But still charged for the monthly payment that starts from the date when this app installed. Shopify support is even worse in app and theme support. They are only the collection agents and don’t have any responsibility to resolve disputes with the app developers.
I have successfully restored in the past with Rewind. I used to have a good review for this app. We triggered a blog restore on a Friday and were not able to recover the data until one of their support members restored it manually on the folowing Tuesday. By that time, we were no longer getting traffic on previously highly ranked keyword. If this would have been product data, we would have been out of business for 3 days, since there was nobody on the other side to provide support. A backup tool must have integrity, availability and reliability. By being unable to restore, 2 of these were broken, and my trust on this app with them. Moving to another solution.
Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your experience with Rewind has changed from a previous 5-star review. Our support team has followed up and restored your blogs. On the weekend support, we hear you. Our current standard support hours don't include the weekend, but we never want our valued customers to feel left alone. We do our very best to get back to all enquiries as quickly as possible, in the order they are received.
Annoyed they increased the price more than double without warning. You just have to discover it on your bill.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We shared our price update communications via email to help keep our customers informed. We hear your feedback, and we continue to strive to be as transparent as possible about pricing and price updates.
They raised the pricing by double without announcing it. Is there also a bigger benefit ? I found nothing.
Thank you for sharing your valuable feedback. Our price update reflects our continued investment in new improvements that enhance the protection of your Shopify store, including: advanced backup and restore coverage for metafields and translations, backups and restores for Klaviyo and Mailchimp at no extra cost, and enterprise-grade security to keep your data safe. We never want our valued customers to feel blindsided by these updates, and we strive to communicate as transparently as possible. I am so angry and annoyed at this back app. I had to restore all my collections and when I did I noticed all the manual sort orders were not there any longer for over 1500 products - reason - just as other poor reviews of this app state they said "due to Shopify’s API limitations not sharing this information". This app KNOWS of the the things which Shopify is not sharing with it as when there is an issue - you are clearly told this when you have an issue restoring. But only then! There needs to be a much better upfront list of what is not backed up as this app is putting you in a complete false sense of security with its fancy weekly emails which lead you to believe everything is being backed up. Well.. the reality is you'll only learn of what is not being backed up when you try and restore. I regret using the app now as the very first time I have needed to use ti - the money invested in having it has not paid off. So I feel it's a waste of time. I could have manually backed up the elements this site is not backing up - if I has been told about them. Very poor on the part of this site. In this situation both Shopify and Rewind Backups were equally useless. Please be aware to quiz this app on what is not being backed up and don't be fooled by all the glossy sales copy from them.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. Being trustworthy is one of our core values, and we never want our customers to feel misguided on what's supported and unsupported by our backups and/or restores. Although we do back up and restore Smart Collections, we cannot current see, back up, or reliably restore the manual sort order even though Smart Collections themselves will be successfully restored. If you'd like to discuss this further, please contact our support team at [email protected].
Bad app. They more than doubled the price without any warning !!! Shady Shady way of running a business. Was difficult to unsubscribe. Not any guide on their site how to do it. No humans at their chat service. Regrets to have subscribed for more than a year with this company. With the help of Shopify AI I could finally cancel the subscription uninstalling this app.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We shared email communications about this update to keep our customers informed. This price change reflects added value through continued investments in our product reliability and security. To cancel your subscription, log in to your Shopify admin --> select Apps in the sidebar menu --> find Rewind in the list of Apps --> scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Uninstall app". If you experience any issues while uninstalling, our support team is always here to help at [email protected], and our Knowledge Base has detailed guides on how to cancel your subscription.
I do not recommend this app. It no longer backs up inventory tracking quantities, so when you restore listings in Shopify, all items are returned as untracked inventory. Rewind informed me that due to Shopify’s API limitations, they’re unable to properly track inventory quantities within listings. This means that if you need to restore products you accidentally deleted, you still have to manually re-enable inventory tracking for each item and physically recount and re-enter all stock quantities. Given the high price point, the app doesn’t offer nearly enough time savings or functionality to justify the cost.
We appreciate you reaching out and sharing your experience. We strive to be trustworthy and never want our valued customers to feel misled. There are certain things that Rewind cannot yet back up and/or restore, and you can find a list of what's currently supported by Rewind for Shopify here on our Knowledge Base: https://help.rewind.com/hc/en-us/articles/27722238895003-What-does-Rewind-backup-for-Shopify.
company violates shopify subscription policy, and makes cancellation nearly impossible. Had to reinstall and go through a process that was not previously available to "uninstall". I have sent countless emails requesting cancellations and they still charge our account. I also had to reinstall the app just to leave this review, and now will uninstall.
(English: Thanks for sharing your feedback. We did increase prices recently and went to great effort to ensure that price change and the reasoning behind it was communicated with customers. A 1-star review would seem more reasonable if we tried to sneak a price increase through but we respect your choice. Sorry if this translation is not good.)
Terrible experience with Rewind I’ve had this app for over 4 years and honestly, it’s been nothing but disappointing. In all that time, I only needed to use it once—and it failed completely. Their response? An apology and two months of free credit, which didn’t come close to covering the huge amount of work we lost. To make matters worse, they quietly increased the subscription from $3 to $19 without ever notifying us. We ended up paying this massive price hike without even knowing. On top of that, the app is full of bugs. Just yesterday, our store (surface-2-air-sports.myshopify.com) couldn’t even connect because of an ERR_BLOCKED_BY_RESPONSE error. Bottom line: Do not waste your money on Rewind. It’s unreliable, overpriced, and not worth the risk.
We’re sorry to see you go. We remember your case and appreciate you working with us as we escalated to engineering to understand the intricacies and find a solution. We know price increases sting. This was our first such adjustment in many years and we did build communications around it so that it wouldn't come as a shock. Whatever the case, we wish you well, and strongly encourage you to keep a backup and recovery solution in place—even if it isn’t Rewind.
The only time I ever needed to revert to a back-up due to a coding mix-up, I learned it was not automatic and I needed to contact someone to do it. With response times taking 2 days each time, it was quite frustrating. You can imagine, when you need to revert your website due to a coding error, you want it to revert asap. I ended up just hiring a coder to fix it. That said, I decided to continue using the app as a fail-safe, just in case. However, with their recent announcement that they are taking a *100%* price increase (yes, 100%) next month, I am moving on to another backup app. I get the cost of business is going up, but for an app with no COGs, no Tariffs, etc, a 100% increase is ridiculous. Bye bye.
We’re sorry this didn’t go as quickly as you needed. Rewind backs up and restores themes—including .liquid code—and in most stores, recovery is automated, requiring just a few clicks. In some cases, custom code and ongoing code changes can make an automated rollback more involved. In these cases, we aim to move fast to help. If we missed the mark here, we apologize.
I would strongly caution anyone considering this app. After years of paying for their service, I discovered I had been overcharged more than 50% above the publicly listed plan price for nearly 80 months. The company never informed me of this “silent” price change, and when I raised the issue, they insisted it was correct — despite their own archived website and Shopify App Store listings proving otherwise. To make matters worse, they recently announced yet another price increase, even though the first one was never communicated transparently. Their explanations shifted, citing plans that simply never existed, which only undermines confidence further. This kind of billing practice feels dishonest and predatory, especially toward long-time customers who trusted them. After this experience, my trust in this company is completely gone. There are other backup apps available on Shopify that offer the same features at the advertised prices — I’d recommend exploring those instead.
We're sorry for your frustration. To clarify, this is the first price adjustment in many years and we communicated it clearly. We have not raised prices silently. Ever. That's not how we operate. If we can clarify anything further, please reply to our email.
Not worth it. We have paid for over 3 years and never needed to use it once. Canceled due to a 533% price increase (from $3 to $19/month), with no noticeable improvement in value. Sudden price hikes like this break trust, especially for a "just-in-case" app. Hope this feedback helps others make an informed decision.
Data disasters happen all the time. We're glad you've never experienced one and we hope you never do. You don't have to use Rewind but we would caution that having a backup—and a way to restore data seamlessly in event of a disaster—is a must. Rewind is about preparedness and knowing that if you ever have a problem, you have a clear, quick path to get back to business as usual.
Hidden/obfuscated process for canceling subscription - 1 star every time.
We’re sorry to hear you felt the cancellation process was unclear. For security reasons, cancellations can only be made by a store admin. This is intentional, and in line with best practices like zero trust and least privilege access. While that extra step may be inconvenient, it’s there to prevent unauthorized changes to critical apps like backups. We’ll continue to look for ways to make the process clearer.
There are other better options. Some of our SKUs got corrupted due to an incorrect file upload. The back-up restore feature did not work. When we contacted support, there was no response. When they need to increase your plan and charge more money, they seem to have enough resources for that. This app has proved to be useless to us. Find someone else.
We’re sorry we didn’t meet your expectations. We know how frustrating it is when things don’t go as planned. There are always edge cases and restoring data after complex updates can sometimes require extra context from the team involved. We’ll use the experience to keep improving how we support our customers.
After doing a backup, certain in-text images did not get restored. Contacted support, although they were nice, could not fix the issue and said that Rewind Backups does not include these images. I had to manually fix many, many product pages and put these images back. Then, a few weeks later these images were again removed, without doing a backup. Again, this is costing us many hours of manual work to restore these images. We had a paid subscription and expected better performance. If you are looking for an app that restores ALL aspects of your site, including all images, then don't use this app.
Thank you for your feedback and sorry for the hassle you experienced with restoring images. To clarify, Rewind backs up and restores the exact HTML of your product descriptions, along with images that are properly attached to Shopify resources like products, variants, and collections. In your case, some of the images were added as standalone media via hard-coded URLs, which unfortunately means they weren’t linked to Shopify objects and couldn’t be included in the backup. The best way to ensure full image coverage is to upload them using Shopify’s image picker. That way, the images are “attached” and Rewind can capture and restore them automatically. We appreciate you highlighting this. Your feedback helps others avoid similar pain and gives us insight into where expectations can be clearer. Thanks again.
