company violates shopify subscription policy, and makes cancellation nearly impossible. Had to reinstall and go through a process that was not previously available to "uninstall". I have sent countless emails requesting cancellations and they still charge our account. I also had to reinstall the app just to leave this review, and now will uninstall.

We did increase prices recently and went to great effort to ensure that price change and the reasoning behind it was communicated with customers. Terrible experience with Rewind I’ve had this app for over 4 years and honestly, it’s been nothing but disappointing. In all that time, I only needed to use it once—and it failed completely. Their response? An apology and two months of free credit, which didn’t come close to covering the huge amount of work we lost. To make matters worse, they quietly increased the subscription from $3 to $19 without ever notifying us. We ended up paying this massive price hike without even knowing. On top of that, the app is full of bugs. Just yesterday, our store (surface-2-air-sports.myshopify.com) couldn’t even connect because of an ERR_BLOCKED_BY_RESPONSE error. Bottom line: Do not waste your money on Rewind. It’s unreliable, overpriced, and not worth the risk.

This was our first such adjustment in many years and we did build communications around it so that it wouldn't come as a shock. Whatever the case, we wish you well, and strongly encourage you to keep a backup and recovery solution in place—even if it isn’t Rewind.

The only time I ever needed to revert to a back-up due to a coding mix-up, I learned it was not automatic and I needed to contact someone to do it. With response times taking 2 days each time, it was quite frustrating. You can imagine, when you need to revert your website due to a coding error, you want it to revert asap. I ended up just hiring a coder to fix it. That said, I decided to continue using the app as a fail-safe, just in case. However, with their recent announcement that they are taking a *100%* price increase (yes, 100%) next month, I am moving on to another backup app. I get the cost of business is going up, but for an app with no COGs, no Tariffs, etc, a 100% increase is ridiculous. Bye bye.

We’re sorry this didn’t go as quickly as you needed. Rewind backs up and restores themes—including .liquid code—and in most stores, recovery is automated, requiring just a few clicks. In some cases, custom code and ongoing code changes can make an automated rollback more involved. In these cases, we aim to move fast to help. If we missed the mark here, we apologize.

I would strongly caution anyone considering this app. After years of paying for their service, I discovered I had been overcharged more than 50% above the publicly listed plan price for nearly 80 months. The company never informed me of this “silent” price change, and when I raised the issue, they insisted it was correct — despite their own archived website and Shopify App Store listings proving otherwise. To make matters worse, they recently announced yet another price increase, even though the first one was never communicated transparently. Their explanations shifted, citing plans that simply never existed, which only undermines confidence further. This kind of billing practice feels dishonest and predatory, especially toward long-time customers who trusted them. After this experience, my trust in this company is completely gone. There are other backup apps available on Shopify that offer the same features at the advertised prices — I’d recommend exploring those instead.

Not worth it. We have paid for over 3 years and never needed to use it once. Canceled due to a 533% price increase (from $3 to $19/month), with no noticeable improvement in value. Sudden price hikes like this break trust, especially for a "just-in-case" app. Hope this feedback helps others make an informed decision.

Data disasters happen all the time. We're glad you've never experienced one and we hope you never do. You don't have to use Rewind but we would caution that having a backup—and a way to restore data seamlessly in event of a disaster—is a must. Rewind is about preparedness and knowing that if you ever have a problem, you have a clear, quick path to get back to business as usual.

We’re sorry to hear you felt the cancellation process was unclear. For security reasons, cancellations can only be made by a store admin. This is intentional, and in line with best practices like zero trust and least privilege access. While that extra step may be inconvenient, it’s there to prevent unauthorized changes to critical apps like backups. We’ll continue to look for ways to make the process clearer.

There are other better options. Some of our SKUs got corrupted due to an incorrect file upload. The back-up restore feature did not work.When we contacted support, there was no response. When they need to increase your plan and charge more money, they seem to have enough resources for that. This app has proved to be useless to us. Find someone else.

After doing a backup, certain in-text images did not get restored. Contacted support, although they were nice, could not fix the issue and said that Rewind Backups does not include these images. I had to manually fix many, many product pages and put these images back. Then, a few weeks later these images were again removed, without doing a backup. Again, this is costing us many hours of manual work to restore these images. We had a paid subscription and expected better performance. If you are looking for an app that restores ALL aspects of your site, including all images, then don't use this app.

Thank you for your feedback and sorry for the hassle you experienced with restoring images. To clarify, Rewind backs up and restores the exact HTML of your product descriptions, along with images that are properly attached to Shopify resources like products, variants, and collections. In your case, some of the images were added as standalone media via hard-coded URLs, which unfortunately means they weren’t linked to Shopify objects and couldn’t be included in the backup. The best way to ensure full image coverage is to upload them using Shopify’s image picker. That way, the images are “attached” and Rewind can capture and restore them automatically. App did not backup and restore Variant data and metafields. The AI Chat and help files inform of API limitations, but other Apps can do it. Look elsewhere and save yourself the pain of data loss.

If you have thousands of products, do not rely on this. Our store has thousands of products, I accidentally deleted some, so i used this app to restore all products to a date before I deleted the products. For some reason this app changed the assigned variant image for hundreds if not thousands of products to display the wrong image. I havent been able to check how many products this app has messed up. Update: in response to their response. I went back and forth with their support for a while, the end result was them telling me they could not reproduce the isssue, no fix.

Today i have used the restore of date 13-AUG-2023 even 12-AUG-2023. This app not bringing my site back to normally, while my site was working perfectly fine till 14-AUG-2023. Is there any responsible person from your team to fix my issue. It is a serious issue

The restores don't work. I have had 1 major and 1 minor restore, and both failed. You can't get any answers quickly, and my issues never get resolved. I was never able to recover the deleted information in a restore.

We pay monthly fees and no backups are made. Support does not give us an answer. We recommend using another app. Pagamos cuotas mensuales y no se hacen copias de seguridad. El soporte no nos da una respuesta. Te recomendamos que utilices otra aplicación. Wir zahlen monatlich Gebühren und es werden keine Sicherungen vorgenommen. Der Support gibt uns keine Antwort. Hi There, We have noticed that you posted this review on the same day you installed Rewind Backups. It is not possible to restore to a point in time before Rewind was installed. When you install Rewind, we start to save versions of your data. At any point in the future, you can go back to one of our saved versions. Hello, I’m Kaleigh - head of customer support here at Rewind. I wanted to reach out and make sure you understood that we completely empathize with your frustrations here, as they're frustrations we've felt ourselves. Our backups rely on webhooks or little digital notifications from Shopify to us regarding items that have changed so that we can make a new record of it. When it comes to inventory - Shopify’s API currently does not consider a sale to be a change associated with a product. Which means that when you sell something, we are not notified of the inventory update as a ‘change’ to your product. When a product is restored to an earlier version - we can keep the inventory exactly as it is in the present moment (because we can see it), but when a product is DELETED, we have no record of the inventory changes, so we set the inventory at 0. Although we do backup your product images, title, description, tags, price and variants I want to apologize that inventory not being included in this this wasn’t clear, and assure you that it’s always top of mind for us in conversations with Shopify about the API. Given the level of disappointment I’d really appreciate having a conversation with you about it and what we can do to help assure you of our commitment to backing up your store data as much as we possibly can. We make continuous backups of your store data, which you can view and restore from within the Rewind app. It sounds like this is not what you were expecting when you installed Rewind, and that you are looking for a downloadable copy of your store data.
