They advertise this as “free,” but that claim collapses almost immediately under scrutiny. The platform operates on a per-seat licensing model, meaning each agent requires a separate subscription. So a team of five isn’t scaling efficiently—you’re looking at a 5× cost multiplier for what is, at its core, a very lightweight chat interface. That pricing structure is wildly out of alignment with the product’s actual capability. From a usability standpoint, the application feels underdeveloped. Core functions lack intuitive UX patterns, onboarding is virtually nonexistent, and there’s no meaningful in-app guidance. For something this basic, the absence of even rudimentary tutorials suggests poor product design and weak user testing. Technically, it feels like a thin wrapper around a minimal chat framework—no depth, no customization, no real operational tooling. You’re paying enterprise-level pricing for what amounts to a stripped-down, entry-level widget. What’s more telling: they don’t even appear to use their own product. I attempted to contact them through their chat during business hours and received no response. That’s a glaring failure of dogfooding and raises serious questions about system reliability, staffing, or both. In a market already saturated with underwhelming chat solutions, this one manages to stand out—in the worst way.

It is an amazing setup, I'm enjoying the free trial. Based on your desires and business needs, the pro version is well worth the price compared to others.

90% of all chats are bots, Chatra tells me that not their fault, it is happening in their product so-maybe they could take some accountability for it happening. Deleting the app.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that Chatra did not fully meet your expectations. We’ve already discussed this with you directly, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify it publicly for anyone considering Chatra. Chatra does not generate website traffic on its own, it simply interacts with visitors who are already arriving on your website. Bots, crawlers, and automated traffic reach a site independently of Chatra, just as they would with contact forms, analytics tools, or page views. Chatra includes a simple and fully reversible ban option, which many of our users successfully use to manage unwanted conversations. In addition, we automatically filter out obvious bot activity whenever clear bot signals are detected. However, many modern bots, including AI crawlers and advanced scripts, are specifically designed to closely mimic real human behavior. From a chat widget’s perspective, such traffic is indistinguishable from real visitors. Because of this, aggressively blocking at the chat level would inevitably risk blocking real users as well. For that reason, managing bot traffic is handled at the website or infrastructure level using tools such as firewalls, bot protection, rate limiting, or CDN services (for example, Cloudflare, Akamai, or AWS WAF). This is the standard approach across the industry and applies to all chat solutions, not just Chatra. That said, we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Your feedback has been shared with our entire team and will be carefully reviewed as we continue to evaluate and improve Chatra in future updates. We wish you all the best moving forward.
