PLEASE ADD BACK DRAG AND DROP - THIS IS ABSURD
It's been great overall but I can't upload new files anymore, and this is a problem.
It's been generally positive, although there are some weak points. 1. The upload speed is very slow. I am uploading approx 4gb videos and it takes ages, compared to uploading to e.g. Google Drive or Dropbox or WeTransfer. 2. There is no way to automatically send a download email to anyone who has pre-ordered a video. i.e. the customer preorders before the video is upploaded to Digital Downloads. 3. The 5GB limit is a bit limiting. I am selling performance videos and it means I have to limit the video quality for longer shows. 4. There is no way to set up an alert when, for example, a customer downloads a video a certain number of times or tries to download it from overseas. Limiting the number of downloads presents support problems as many customers try and download to a phone and the video starts streaming. They use up their limit quickly and I have to get involved to sort it out. 5. Overall, the app feels clunky, but it just about satisfies my requirements, and it's included at no extra charge. I certainly wouldn't want to pay for it.
pas de possibilité de sauvegarde disparition de fichiers de temps en temps
Digital Downloads is fantastic for allowing customers to purchase digital products that are immediately redeemed via email. The only downside I've encountered to date is that they do need that email to get their products - It would be really helpful if the download link could also be on the customers account page or purchase history page so that we don't have to manually resend the emails.
The app works great; the customer experience sucks. If you provide something free, scammers will pound your site downloading the same files over and over generating tons of notifications for no cash. If you provide an inexpensive download, scammers will use your site to test stolen credit cards. You can write scripts to prevent some of them but today I had a $2.49 charge clawed back plus a $15 chargeback fee. My site is 75% digital downloads and so I love that I can give free updates to folks. It’s seamless with coupons too. I don’t know how to prevent the fraud.

This app allows up to 5gb of files per product, which is generous and very important for my business. There are problems when uploading more than one file to a product. It doesn't matter whether you try to upload multiple files at once or if you save one file, then add another later, nor does it matter what size the files are; after upload, saving will give you an endlessly spinning "saving" icon which will never actually save or resolve itself. It's really too bad, because this simple glitch spoils an otherwise perfect app.
If you add the ability to add a watermark that is automatically generated with buyers' data when selling an e-book, this application would be fully functional and useful.
A good app IF you only travel in one language. But as soon as you have multilingual download emails, it's useless.
We've been using it for a LONG TIME, but it always had some issues. If you do not have loads of downloads and you are not afraid of reuploading files (because they WILL vanish), and files randomly corrupting (like one of the files from a zip document going completely missing) then this is the app for you
Works, but has issues. Not fully compatible with Flow. We use Flow to capture payment only once an order has been shipped. For orders that contain a mix of shipped and digital items, the digital items get stuck as "unfulfilled" as Digital Downloads appears to only fulfill items if payment is immediately captured at order creation. Even after we manually press fulfill on digital items, nowhere in the timeline is the emailing of the download links logged.
Seria buena opción tener la posibilidad de agregar un link como opción de acceso después de la compra.
how do you set download limits.it doesnt say how
This app is good and does mostly what we need. The unfortunate part is that Shopify recommends the New Customer Accounts type. However, their own app is not built to use the New Customers Accounts type.
When it works, it is amazing but I've been receiving emails from customers saying they never received an email with their downloads... they can't find it in their spam either.
In the Shopify Digital Downloads app, when viewing an individual digital product, it would be extremely helpful to be able to click "Previous" and "Next". This functionality is already built into the main Products section of the UI. I cannot express how much it would help me to have this implemented in a similar location of the Digital Downloads app. It would cut the time and effort required for me to upload new digital files by 75% or more. I have hundreds of digital products that I have to update each time there is a revision, and this is an extremely laborious process with the current app dashboard.
