Xenforum

I have wanted to have user forums on our site for 10 years, but we were on an old legacy website and it just wasn't feasible. Then we upgraded to Shopify, and with the app store, anything is possible. I finally chose Xenforum as my solution after looking at a number of competing products. Installation was a breeze. But I wanted to run the forums in the "embed" mode, so they would show up with the same branding and layout as any other page on our site. This caused a number of minor layout and functionality issues, which I wasn't sure were solvable. So I created a forum especially for reporting forum issues, and had all of my employees pound on the forums and report bugs. We came up with 6-8 bugs with no idea how to fix them. Some of the issues I was sure had nothing to do with the Xenforum, but were probably Shopify theme issues. I took a short break from work, and when I came home, the developer Chis Ad had fixed ALL of the issues! That is some outstanding customer service. I could not be more happy with the product and the customer service, and I finally have great user forums after 10 years. I would highly recommend this product to anyone wanting to add community engagement to their site. Thank you, Xenforum!

So far I am pretty happy with it. I wish there was more flexibility for headers in each individual page, but so far that is my only "complaint".

I have been using this APP for more than 4 years, and the customer service support is usually relatively fast, but recently I have encountered several problems that have not been resolved. I can't receive the email verification email; because the forum started to receive a lot of spam posts, I had to turn on the 'Prevent unverified users' function, but this function only works for new users. For old registered users, they need to re- Send an email verification email to activate the user. But when I tested "Send verification email", I couldn't receive the verification email at all, and I still couldn't get a solution after calling customer service. This actually brings a new problem: for old users of the forum, once I enable the 'Prevent unverified users' function, all old users need to resend the email verification email to activate, but it is not included in the user's profile at all. For the "Resend Email Verification" entry, only administrators can perform this action. The best approach is to allow users to "Resend Email Verification" themselves. Once I address these few issues, I will revise this review to 5 stars. === I received a response from the support team and the "Verify email" feature was added to the profile, 5 stars!

We absolutely love this app and cannot fault the first class customer service from Chris! I would highly highly recommend this app to anyone looking to build a community chat space right on your website and free from the "social platform" black holes. Try it and you will love it!

Looks good, easy to set up. I like that customers can use the same login for the forum as for the shopify website - nicely integrated. A little slow, but now sure if that is just my connection or something else. I probably should speed test it.

I've been trying to reach out the support team, haven't heard back from them in days. Can't make the email notifications to work, been trying with different SMTP settings and nothing, looks like the app is using old gmail security methods.

I was impressed with the app, talked with the dev about importing my old forum, signed up, and he was able to import all of our old WP Asgaros user forum posts, so it made for a pretty smooth transition. The forum is feature rich, presents well and has quite a few customization options. Service has improved and we are finding the app is really helping reduce our business tech support load, A shout out to Chris for his recent help and patience :)

I installed the app, loved the look, loved the functionality, it was very user friendly, and all went together well. The overall look is pleasing. Not sure what sort of controls their will be for Spam control, but will report back on that.

easy set up , need more profressional functions . like share button to facebook and other social media

I am not very savvy when it comes to website work. Yet got this forum set up with ease. The backend as well as the frontend is very user friendly. The customer support was brilliant. Received a replies to my questions within a an hour.

Xenforum is a top class product with a top class support. They have helped us all the way in setting up the forum at Olympiadtester and also customizing it to our needs. We are very happy with our decision to chose Xenforum and have no hesitation in strongly recommending this forum app.

Former product manager of web development here. This app is good. There is a bit of a learning curve to understand the entire setup. Overall, I'm satisfied. The support team so far is really good and responsive. We were answering individual email questions from customers which took up a bunch of our time. Now our customers ask us questions publicly, we answer the questions publicly, and future customers can easily find answers to their questions without having to contact us directly. If you get a lot of direct email inquiries from customers, I highly recommend this app. The best forum on the Shopify App store.

Update: The app has some performance issues: load time, some basic features had issues and they also stopped replying to our requests which made it impossible for us to use it. We tested this app for more than one week. Original review: We just started using the app and like it so far. The support team has been great at answering our questions. We'll update our review once we finish our community feature.

This forum app is really great. I use it for customer support, faq, share information and create a community of customers and followers. The forum is fast and easy to use. Support is very slow if you need some customization like i did. Send an email days ago and still no answer

Thank you for the fix, I am still using it, so I update my review. I'd like to say the app would get better and better if developer keep updating and testing it and listen to the users' experience.

Cool! Finally! It's here, a sweet forum format for Shopify. I been waiting, the other one looks pretty generic, this one has potential. Lets help them build it strong. Where are Shopifiers needing a user forum? I can't possibly be the only one.
