Shopify Collabs

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC software - highly recommend it. Previously called DOVETALE & taken over by Shopify - there have been a few teething challenges during that transition, BUT the support team is super friendly & 'onnit' to improve & make a better experience. FOR CERTAIN this software COLLABS has been a game changer for our affiliate program & helping our internal team execute and work with WORLD CLASS athletes & professional sportsmen & women ALL AROUND THE WORLD! I highly recommend COLLABS. it's easy to use. There will be a lot of features coming out this year I believe & Shopify sees the importance of such a software service We are delighted to be part of the Dovetale/COLLABS community & will keep using & supporting what they do & what they bring out. It's great for being a free app that allows us to manage influencers and also give influencers a way to manage their brands. However, it's extremely lacking some crucial features: 1) Can't add members manually, especially via a CSV file import, 2) Never in a million years would I know to click the Affiliates heading to see where to add new affiliate tiers, 3) Never in a million years would I know to click on the onboarding checklist to edit the application page. The UX is so strange in this app. So many things that are weirdly buried and lacking features, but can't complain because it's FREE.

Really solid experience so far - would love some more flexibility on the layout of the application page, but other than that the functionality is good for what we're using it for.

10/10 great app easy to use. I used another Affiliate / Collab program and the app got hacked. Its a great app

Update: 4 months later and new Collab members still have to create a Shopify account in order to onboard. A new feature lets brands manually add members, which sounded like it would be a great way to quickly onboard -- but turns out this feature STILL requires them to create an account in order to activate their affiliate code. Shopify, you're so great in other areas, this isn't you! Please make this app easier for our community to use! Update 2: I really hope these reviews prevent others from having the negative experience with Collabs that we have had. We recently learned that creators are not paid by Shopify if they have made under $25 in commissions. How is this legal? Additionally, in order to get paid, creators must jump through multiple hoops, not only going through the sign-up process mentioned in my other Collabs reviews, but also by authorizing auto-payments in a very confusing process. This honestly seems designed to prevent creators from being paid. Again, this is not at all my general experience with Shopify, and I am so appalled by how Collabs/Dovetale has been run since the acquisition. *** If you're thinking about switching your influencer platform because you've heard Shopify Collabs is great, be careful! This used to be a great app with an easy onboarding process (hence all the buzz). But Shopify recently changed the onboarding process, requiring the influencer to sign up for a Shopify account and verify their email before they even land on the brand's application page (and then they need to apply for the brand too!). This has led to a big drop in influencer signups for us, and it seems like the same thing is happening with other brands. We went through a big hassle to switch to Shopify Collabs because it was easier and less complex than Refersion. Now we might need to switch back. What a disappointment.

Considering it's free I'm giving it 5 stars! Quite easy to use from the brand side. I'll echo the comments of the others that the registration needs to be EFFORTLESS for the creators. Also, if there were a tool to see who of our existing customers has a Shopify Collabs creator account that would make a lot of sense. And a step further would be who from our IG following has a creator account. This is a great start and with some tweaks I think we can base our influencer/affiliate marketing in Shopify Collabs. Without improvements we'll likely move to one of the big name platforms soon. Hope this helps.

The application for creators should be quick and seamless. Creators/Influencers are lazy and slow. They barely respond to their emails and DMs let alone create a shopify account and fill out an entire questionaire just to be added to our list. Ask the developers to work on this. It has a huge potential but the shopify registrations should be expedited. Maybe something like a login with google or facebook to speed it up

I am surprised that this app does not support the native Shopify multi-language feature. I have French and English on the same store and the Shopify Collabs is only showing English. Tried using translation app in Shopify to translate but it seems incompatible because the shopify collabs run within its own iframe.

I haven't started using this yet but have a question. If influencers don't link their social media to this program, doesn't it mean that the only way for them to generate affiliate sales is through an affiliate link. Is this the reason for the link. This way they simply need to mention the @ of the store, and it still gets considered as a referral - a more natural one at that - rather than referrals only coming through via their unique link.

It is a good tool. Making influencer marketing work has been tricky for us. This at least makes the process of outreach, gifting and payment easy.

I am new, but it seems to be working well so far. I will update after using this more. But so far so good.

Overall, the application is great and has great potential. PROBLEM: Like everything else lately, they create the flow with the Shopify brand throughout, so it's not your own brand solution. This makes every vendor look like a shop and not a brand. It's a shame that shopify is using our business to promote theirs while getting paid by us. Even to get an account as an influencer you have to register in shopify platform.

Needs a signature section and a way to communicate with collaborators. great for keeping things in one place

Collabs (formerly Dovetale) is precisely what we needed to find influencers and creators. Easy to onboard them, set up discounts, track conversions, and even pay them seamlessly. Also super cool that we can set up gifts (free products) to simplify the process of shipping out samples. It still amazes me that the product is free when other options charge thousands of dollars a month. Super excited to see where Shopify takes the product next!

Do you understand the effort it takes to bring collaborators into a platform? Overnight, without any heads up, you broke the entire flow and deployed a buggy sign up process. And now people cannot join? Why would you do this? After Shopify takeover the whole flow became super confusing. I love my Shopify but this part of the product needs better judgement. Please get us back to simple.

Very unhappy, especially as a ShopifyPlus customer! This is not like GRIN or UPFLUENCE. The system is almost impossible for influencers to work with you. The sign in process is confusing, the gift section is confusing. The influencers have to go through so many steps and technical issues; they practically don't have time to concentrate on your products. This needs a TON of work. ShopifyPlus should actually find out how to run an influencer program before launching an App like this. I wish I didn't dig into it until it had been out for longer. Hoping for a much better experience in the future whenever this gets completely redone. Terrible.

There are things I really like about this app and things I do not. I think it is pretty easy to use and I like that everything is in one place. That being said, sometimes it glitches though. Also, I don't like the way the gifting works with it. I hate that to offer a gift you have to go through all your products one by one and add them, just to allow people to choose from them. I wish you could choose collections that people can pick from. I can't imagine what this will be like in the future as I add more products to my site. Also, I don't like the page that the members see when choosing a gift. it shows 1 product at a time and you have to scroll down through them all. It would be nice if the page had them 3 or 4 next to each other, as well as being able to choose what the page looks like to match with our website. I feel like there is definitely more work to be done on this to make it better.

For a feature as highly touted as this has been you would think that Shopify would have taken the time to get it right. The entire app is riddled with bugs and pain points. The entire experience needs to be vetted and troubleshot. I don't need to go into detail because so many of the issues have been called out in other critical reviews. I'm just here to encourage Shopify to allocate the resources to get this back on track. Moderator - please escalate this to the decision makers. And decision makers - please get on top of this asap as the holiday sales season is soon approaching.

I was excited about this app because most of my marketing is through influencers and I am an influencer myself. The first sign of trouble was when one of my top referrers pointed out a sale that came via his referral link and was not registered as a referral. The final straw was when another referrer showed me how his referral link was coming up with a 404 page not found error. I've had to let all my referrers know that I'm shutting down the program for technical reasons. I hope Shopify can sort out the bugs and turn this into an awesome collab system, but in its current state I will not be using this app.

LOVED Dovetale, and was excited about the buyout, but unfortunately Shopify Collabs is a far cry from what Dovetale used to be. Our affiliate codes won't work, and it's hindering our user experience.
