I agree with the last two reviews. This app was PERFECT when it allowed for manual fulfillment at a later date, but sent the download immediately upon checkout completion. Now, that functionality has been changed / disabled and support has given me a similar response, stating that functionality was incorrect (although, sounds like at least a few of us didn't think so). Maybe let the app do what customers want, even if it wasn't the original intent?

As per the previous review, I was using this app for the last 6 months and it was working fine, however it's stopped working now and I'm not sure why. I have tried contacting the developer but no answer yet. I have also tried re-uploading the digital files but that didn't help either.

I LOVE this app. Very easy to use and set up. My digital content is a PDF file with tutorials.I like that I can limit the number of downloads a customer can have for an order. Wish there was something I could do to is prevent customers from sharing that once they receive the PDF

This app is almost perfect - just one glaring omission. Why can't customers who are logged into their account download their items from their order page? I know it's possible because both Etsy and Craftsy have that feature. I hope this is something in the works for the future. Otherwise everything is fantastic - great interface and very easy to use.

This app has two major drawbacks: 1. You cannot set download links to expire after a set amount of time. This is bad. 2. Customers cannot access download links from their account page. Both of these issues seem like obvious features, and I can't understand why they aren't included.

This is a good app and I would rate it 5 stars if it wouldn't mark a product as fulfilled if "requires shipping" is checked. I have books that have 3 options: digital, physical, or both. I let customers add the digital for a fraction of the cost of buying both separately and it's been a great upsell for me. Problem is that if I have Shopify auto fulfill the "both" order it marks the entire line item as fulfilled and thus the entire order and risks that order not being fulfilled. I don't want to create several different products that are visible to customers and shopify does not allow hidden products or products with no category to be added to a bundle. I did contact shopify and they said I had 2 options: fulfull all orders manually or give customers a 100% discount code for the digital product. Both options are a hassle and I'm still looking for a good solution. As a side note to a below comments, I have received zero complaints about being able to download the file from the link provided, and had no problem figuring out how to set the download for a product.

Would get 5 stars easily if it could do the following: * Allow users to get download link when they login to the store. It makes no sense how they can get tracking for their physical items through their account but cannot get a link to their digital download. * Update fulfillment fields with link to download. This will allow anyone using the API to get and display the download link to customers.

I have been testing this for several days now and I have not experienced any problems. The download emails have never taken more than a minute to show up. I was wondering if anyone has been able to get access to the attachment URL as specified in the email template ({{ attachment.shop_url }}) but on the customer orders page? A great feature to add would be to produce unique keys with the download from a list. This seems like a standard feature on other paid apps but could work so much better if it was integrated with Digital Downloads.

TOTAL & UTTER SHIT. I process between 30 & 40 orders a day for digital downloads and every day I receive complaints from customers that they have not received the download link. I have contacted support several times and they always say that they don't see a reason why the e-mail was not received. When I look in the app I am finding that every 3rd order is going un-downloaded. I'm having to manually go into the app and re-send the download link, which is sucking up an unacceptable amount of my time, in addition to making my business look terrible. Moreover, I can't resend the download e-mail from the Shopify iPhone app, so I have to wait until I'm at my computer and go into the Shopify admin. A ROYAL PAIN IN THE ASS!!!! I shouldn't have to pay for an ungraded app just to ensure that my downloads are actually being received! This software/service was supposed to make my life easier and streamline my work. Shopify's interface is easier to use and the POS is integrated, but I'm starting to regret not going with 3D-Cart.

PRO: It's free and supports multiple files for one product, which is the primary reason we switched to Shopify. We only sell .jpg files. ANNOYING BUT BEARABLE BECAUSE IT'S FREE: Having to do some minor things twice, "re installing" the app every time we start using it again, and not having the download link show up on the order confirmation page. UNACCEPTABLE: 8% of our orders have one of three technical problems (yes, I spreadsheeted the data to get that figure): 1) The email download doesn't show up (yes, we verified that it wasn't in their spam folder) 2) In Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows 8, customers download the .jpg file but it saves as a MHT file that they can't use (customer service nightmare here). 3) Customer clicks link to download, and it simply says the limit has been exceeded (yes, we verified that the product had a download limit of 2). On average, we receive a technical complaint directly caused by the Shopify app every 5.5 days. We've verified that other complaints we've received have been at the user end and did not include those in our data set to give you the above numbers. CONCLUSION: I don't expect a free app to have the shiny features of a paid app, and I don't even think the paid solutions are that overpriced. I do expect this free app to do what Shopify says it should do in its second bullet point as of 11-5-13: "Customers get access to content instantly." Shopify's description of this app is true 92% of the time. So Shopify either needs to change the app description to reflect the truth (come on copywriter, get creative), or it should have one of its developers walk away from the tapped keg, grab some Tim Horton's coffee, work out some bugs and write some scripts. I look forward to Shopify making this ok app great!

I'm updating this app review to a 2 stars. I have been using this for over 10 years now. Lately there have been several outages that have cost me business and time. I never see notification of updates. Everything is happening behind the scenes and downloads that I have had set up for over 10 years just stop working. C'mon Shopify. It's all I sell. Stop terrible development practices and test whatever it is you are doing PRIOR to going live. You are affecting live stores! NO MORE EMAILS! They are delayed or going to junk mail. The download screen needs to appear when the customer purchases the product!
