Basic app, good because free and no limits, but has its internal limit. Only a few liquid variable can be added to the mail template and that's a huge set back.

I couldn't do business without Digital Downloads. All my products are digital and this app handles them all, integrating faultlessly into my store and allowing downloads immediately after payment from Shopify's checkout and from the email sent to the customer. A bulk upload feature would be handy for getting all the files into the store quickly. But hey! Doing them one by one is a good activity for the end of the day when you're brain-dead and shouldn't be tackling anything requiring intelligent thought.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP!!!! I literally just downloaded it for 2 seconds and it began breaking ALL the images on my site. After removing it, a few came back but now, even when I deleted the broken images, and upload new ones, it breaks those too. I had so much planned for today and this app just added several hours of work for me. Worst download ever. Save yourself the trouble, it's going to cost you time and money. No wonder it's free.

Well, It's free but it's also essential to use shopify for digital products. They need to do so much work on this app though. We need to be able to see when a customer has downloaded and from which IP address with order details. I can't delete files for the digital products that have been removed, they are still in the list! The stat's page needs a complete redesign. Need a global setting for download limit. The list goes on. It does do the job, but needs some love to make it great! Updated review: After about 3 months of use - there are problems with large downloads not completing and the downloads are very, very slow, unacceptably slow in fact. This app is probably OK for small files but for anything over 250 MB I would look else where. Also, the email address that the download links come from often gets rejected as spam resulting in the customer not getting the link and YOU have to manually create a link and send it to them - not good if you have 100's of orders a month! I will have to move to a PAID app, but that is probably why this free one is so restricted isn't it Shopify?

This is a great way to sell digital content. We found this to be simple to install and use for selling photographs and video content for immediate download.

Easy to use and a good free app to get started with. Does have some limitations as you can't bulk upload files etc but does what it says.

If it was more customisable it would be 5 stars. I would like to have unique product update email templates for each product... please :)

Basic app. Mostly does what it says for free but has some significant drawbacks. The basic setting is 'unlimited instant downloads'. If you have mixed products which include a download plus a physical product, or if you want to limit the number of downloads per purchase, you have to reload the app page and edit each item individually. There is no way to change the basic setting - very annoying when you need to change it for every single item. Update: Having used this app for a while now and find it does not work consistently. I too often have to email customers the downloads because they can't access them. Have now also installed Sky Pilot and find that a much better app. Have deleted Digital Downloads.

A nice start, but one star from me until you can attach multiple files to the same product variant. Shopify's suggestion of attaching a .zip file is useless: many people don't know how to use them, and we lose the vast number of customers who are purchasing on mobile devices that can't handle .zip files.

Works pretty well, but lacks a few features that would make it more convenient to use. For example, there is no way to make bulk edits to the settings for all items - we wanted to change the download limit for our products, but there is no way to set them all at once, so we have to change each of the 1,700 individually.

Works great and easy to use. Don't even have to think about it once it's set up. I have this set up on a shop that fulfills physical items, but use this feature to make free PDF downloads available while still gathering emails. Since I use it to provide free downloads to my customers, my only wish is that for free orders all they would have to provide is name and email address - rather than still going through checkout like regular orders. I think that turns some people off from completing the process.

I agree with the last two reviews. This app was PERFECT when it allowed for manual fulfillment at a later date, but sent the download immediately upon checkout completion. Now, that functionality has been changed / disabled and support has given me a similar response, stating that functionality was incorrect (although, sounds like at least a few of us didn't think so). Maybe let the app do what customers want, even if it wasn't the original intent?

As per the previous review, I was using this app for the last 6 months and it was working fine, however it's stopped working now and I'm not sure why. I have tried contacting the developer but no answer yet. I have also tried re-uploading the digital files but that didn't help either.

I LOVE this app. Very easy to use and set up. My digital content is a PDF file with tutorials.I like that I can limit the number of downloads a customer can have for an order. Wish there was something I could do to is prevent customers from sharing that once they receive the PDF
