Theme Updater & Backups | OOTS

The finally got it together. I tried to update FLEX from 3.1 to 3.5 then 4.5 and there was just too much that did not transfer and I had to rebuild the home page. But the update to 5.01 was great. Only took a few hours and a couple of times contacting support to get all the customizations made. Good Job OOTSB.

Euwi is very professional and knowledgeable in helping us resolve the issues related to formatting and style settings of blogs posts. He always responded to us quickly and we have already sought his assistance many times. If you want fast support and swift webpage loading speed, the themes from Out of the Sandbox is your excellent choice !

ADDITION 10/6/23: I am upping this to 4 stars. It is still very odd that the app messed up section on my page. HOWEVER, I did contact Out of The Sandbox and they replied very quickly and they fixed it! The reason I wrote the review is because last time I contacted them it took days for them to get back to me. So I wanted to make sure this was handled quickly. This time they really replied quickly, within 24 hours, and fixed the issue the same day or next (I think we are on different time zones). Thank you ORIGINAL REVIEW: Quite frustrating. Basic elements on my website get changed randomly and I have to go back and update tot he way we had it originally. I am referring to colors, fonts, banner message, our logo gets lost, it's really bad. Especially since we pay $9/month for the pro version. I am NOT talking about custom code, that I know already you guys don't move over, but the basics? Colors? Fonts? Really bad.

I can't say enough about the Theme Updater and Out of the Sandbox in general. Their products are great. I have had Turbo for 8 years now and they are still updating it to keep it current. It looks great too, and they've made customizations easy. The Developers are quick to fix and help with any issues. I mean, what more do you want? I am so glad I went with Out of the Sandbox and the Theme Updater is extremely helpful!

It's never easy to update a Shopify theme, especially one that's been modified but the Theme Updater app makes it pretty painless and straightforward. If you use OOTS themes it's well worth the extra.

We use the Theme Updater App to regularly update our Archetype Motion theme. Even though we have a couple of Apps installed and some manually added code, the App does a great job. We did run into an issue once, but Cory and the support team jumped in and solved it in no time. We can highly recommend the App and the support team.

Sorry but it's rubbish. It just doest even try to update the theme. Just installs a clean new copy of the updated version. There is always an error or something that stops it working - but then nothing works at all. Been trying on and off for months. In response to developer response - It transfers nothing over, not even the colour scheme. I understand the limitations of custom code of course - but it makes zero effort to even try and work with unaltered templates.

We appreciate this app and how it helps updating to the latest version. We always try to run the latest code on our website and being a small shop this really helps go from version to version without having to do it all manually. There have been times we were not able to use it but that was outlined and expected. For instance going from pre OS2 to a OS2 supported theme required a lot of manual updates but this was expected as OS2 was a different framework altogether. Once we got past that upgrade the Theme Updater app has helped keep our theme up to date with little to no help needed. We have had to reach out to support and found there the help we received to be quick and support was knowledgeable.

Great support when posted queries, and not all that expensive when you need to keep your theme up to date. Thanks team.

Worst customer service. I bought their theme 4 years ago for $425. At first you could upgrade for FREE. Now you have to pay $9 to upgrade. Knowing that from July 28, 2022 to November 2022 there were no less than 6 updates of the theme because each time the new updates had bugs. This is a total disrespect towards the customer. It's already not the cheapest theme on the market, but to have to charge again its own customers to get updates? That's really taking people for cash machines.

Beware of this company! Do not waste your money. Their current customer service is awful, often referring you to have to "hire an Expert" to get your theme even working to a basic point. I purchased mine years back and back then they excelled at helping me to customize it. Not recently. My current theme started to give a bunch of Google Search Console errors and they told me that the only solution was to upgrade to the latest version to get those solved. Ok. After reading these reviews and their notes about this updater app I decided instead to save the money and update it manually. But, even updating the theme manually, their new updated theme is half baked and it needs a lot of coding to get it right to where my previous theme even was. After lots of back and forth (prepare to wait 24-48 hrs for them to get back to you for each response) they would not help even to fix simple issues often referring me to "hire an Expert".

One can only expect that customizations will carry on with the update. This is not what the app does on the FREE version. If you wish to maintain your theme looking sharp, you will have to invest MONTHLY on this app to maintain the latest version of your theme. This is just acceptable in my case because my theme isn't adding more useful features at least for now. When it does, I will subject myself to hours on end making a hard copy by hand.

If you are looking for somewhere to throw away money, this is it! This app did absolutely NOTHING to preserve my settings or customizations. I bought it because upgrading normally wasn't keeping even some basic settings. Figured this would help. Nope. This was a simple upgraded. Already on shopify 2.0, so not an issue with that. EDIT: Regarding their reply... My theme settings were able to be transferred over to my new theme because I did it all manually myself. Please don't try and infer that this app had anything to do with that. Come on now.

We have used this app since its release. Be aware of that many 3rd Party Themes does not offer Automatic Theme Updates. You need then to download the newest theme, and do all the customization once again (this can take much time / have a high cost). However, the themes from Out of the Sandbox offers a Automatic Theme Updater. That is a huge advantage. We have a website with many 3rd party apps, and a 3rd party Theme Editor. When using this, all changes we have made are included into the new updated version. If some code will not be transferred, we are notified of that in the app. Please note their app have two price points, one with support within 3 days, and one with priority support. In my opinion the cost of both the plans are easy to justify, if you run a business with revenue. We have updated the Turbo-Portland theme from Shopify to the new Shopify 2.0 theme with no problems, using Theme Updater Plus. If we need help, the support from Out of the Sandbox has allways been great. We had a serious problem with a 3rd party app that was not compatible with the theme. We was sent in all direction, everyone pointing towards another. Out of the Sandbox stepped up, gave us clear instruction, and solved the problem for us, although the error was with another app. Conclusion: We are happy with both the products and support offered by Out of the Sandbox, and a big thanks to Euwi!

I have used this app on several occasions and so far it has worked flawlessly. I highly recommend anyone to have this app so they can keep their themes up to day and working properly.

Me han solucionado el fallo de la aplicación bastante rápido, ahora si que funciona, si bien es cierto que la actualización no es perfecta del todo, requiere algunos ajuste, pero en general mucho mejor. Saludos
