We've used this app on our gift site for nearly 3 years. It's one of the most used features on our site as it allows customers to build their own box. We've had no issues thus far and are happy to continue using it.

I test a lot of shopify apps and 95% of the time I face the same problem. We merchants are on earth battling real problems and app developers are somewhere in the moon or a paradise where the sun always shine and the world is perfect in their imagination of how a e-commerce businesses work as they are not merchants but app developers. This app has the potential to become a great app but it is not because it lacks important details, details the developers would understand if they would have themselves an ecommerce business and had to deal with how logistics processes and 3PL warehouses work as well as what bundles really should be. Let’s start with the PROs: - It features some kind of simple conditional logic and that is something you will hardly find in other apps, we really need something like this, that is why we invested some time testing this app. - You can create several steps so that customers go from one step to the next in the process of choosing their products. Im sure there are more Pros but nothing really special beside that. The CONs: - Buggy, it started to do estrange things with products, showing them as not being in stock when they really were and things like that. We do not know if that is something punctual and the app behaves so in certain scenarios or it is really as buggy as other users have reported here. - Yes when you click in a product when creating the bundle it opens the product in a pop up to see a bigger picture and the description but it does not link to the original product, which is really what it should do because there is no point of having pop ups showing just a part of that product. - When the customer adds a product to the bundle, on the listing on the right, they add the title of product in text but without a small picture of the product which but more than two or three products looks not clear. - The design lacks the most basic UX principles, problem you will find in 95% of all Shopify Apps. Most apps show horrible design results on our beautiful themes and this one is unfortunately not different in that respect. - The conditional logic does not differentiate if the customer adds one unit of one product or 5 units of that same product and for us that is crucial. When we asked them if they could add that feature (A feature we found reasonable and easy to implement) they answer very correctly and kindly saying that they wouldn’t do it now. They didn’t even say, well let’s talk about it and maybe we can find a solution, it was a simple NO. I thought well I could do a workaround creating product bundles with more than one of the same product in that bundle and add that bundle as a product in the bundle. - But all that is useless if you need to deal with stock control and real logistics since this app adds your bundle in the cart as a single product with a list in text underneath of the products contain in that bundle, if they selves would be merchants they would know the lack of inventory control makes their app pretty useless for most users selling hundreds or thousands of products and having to control their inventories or their 3PL warehouses. In a nutshell an app with great potential because of its conditional logic approach but their developers needs someone who understands about inventory control, UX principles, how important is to implement a real conditional logic and make this app stable and bug free because there is nothing worse than having to rely on an app which you cannot really rely on. We will take a look at this app in a few months, maybe the developers make an effort to really improve this app in that they go out of their developers boxes and take a look at how ecommerce works in the real world.

Excellent app! Works great for our customers to create their own 12,24, or 48pc box of hand selected chocolates. Easy to use, easy to install, great customer service, very happy with this app for our store. Highly recommend!

We used this app to sell personalized jackets for our customers. We had a few steps in our “builder”. The first step was a content step, where we had a bunch of designs to highlight the product, and why it was great. The next steps were personalization, selecting a size, selecting a sleeve for embroidery, and then sharing the embroidered initials. All of the personalizations were then located in the notes section of the order. It was super easy for us to fulfill, and we avoided back-and-forth communication with our customers to get all the details within the shopping experience. We loved using this builder for our personalized product!

The app has met my need for a program that allowed customers to select items for their gift box. It's worked well, and when there has been an occasional glitch, the customer service has been excellent. I recommend it.

Wir waren eine Weile zufrieden mit der App. Aber leider häufen sich in der letzten Zeit die Bugs und es ist sehr mühsam die die Ordnung der Produkte im Builder zu gestalten und zu übewachen. Die App hat plötzlich Produkte wieder rausgestrichen, welche wir mühselig wieder integrieren mussten. Wir wechseln die App.

There's pretty much only one rule for software: if you're going to significantly change it, you need to warn your users with plenty of lead time. That's doubly true if you're removing a core feature. - This app no longer works with subscriptions, an absolutely core feature. Not only that, but they promoted this update for months via email, and never once mentioned that subscriptions would no longer be supported. - In fact, this very app page currently promotes the app as supporting subscriptions, which is false. They haven't even bothered to update this page. - Go to their website and search the term "subscription." What do you find? No mention anywhere that subscriptions are no longer supported. - After their update broke this core function of our website we spent days reaching out to them trying to figure out how to fix it, only to have our issue finally escalated to then be told 'yeah that features gone.' - No remorse, no apology, no 'oh oops, in our weeks of spam emails about this major update we forgot to mention that a core feature would be removed, sorry about breaking your website.' - It's obvious that they prioritized keeping clients paying over informing their clients, and decided to go for a "so sorry that happened" approach over a "heads up this is what's coming" approach. - Even if there is no way to continue to support subscriptions based on the new API (doubtful but let's assume) they should still notify everyone in advance that subscriptions will no longer be supported, it should be stated on their website at least somewhere, and it should be on this very app page, and certainly should no longer be promoted as supporting subscriptions on this page (!). - Sadly, I would not recommend trusting your business to this team, as there is no knowing when they'll pull the rug out from under you and your customers, and their practices of misrepresenting their features here as I type this, in addition to their decision not to forewarn users that subscriptions would be broken, are both inexcusable for any app.

Instead of the order coming through with the individual SKUS, they get added as "Notes" to some randomly generated new SKU. Way to ruin inventory tracking and make it impossible for fulfillment. STAY AWAY

I attempted to use this app for my website, sugar-rushed.shop, now for about a month and have found it was very successful in the beginning but quickly began to fall apart with there being constant issues persisting with the app. This includes the main being a complete loss of functionality based on a neverending loading loop when accessing the product bundles setup using the app. I have waited and waited for support to help me in this matter but there is absolutely no support and this is starting to feel like highway robbery.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD - THIS APP IS NOT SUPPORTED. From Shopify: "BoxBuilder: DIY Product Bundle is currently unsupported...it may not work as expected until the developer updates it. You can contact the developer for support or uninstall the app and find an alternative in the Shopify App Store." We've had this installed since October and it has gone down multiple times for large swaths of time. Their latest patch fails to load or fix the issues. Customer's are building boxes and then left hanging (it never actually gets to the checkout point), Super disappointed in the product and the "customer service". We're actively looking for a new app as there are/were too many problems over an extended period of time. Save yourself the aggravation and avoid BoxBuilder: DIY Product Bundle by Staytuned.

I do want to note here that the message you're seeing from Shopify in your store admin that BoxBuilder is "not supported" refers to the fact that our app is currently making an API call to an unsupported endpoint (which will be fixed very soon). It does not mean that we do not offer support for the app. We definitely do offer customer service and support. That said, after reviewing your tickets with us, I agree that our support crew was not responsive enough to your needs. That's not the standard we set for ourselves. Again, I apologize. Do not install this app at the moment! The developers pushed an unannounced update on July 10th and customers can't order bundle products anymore. We lost 1200 CAD in sales so far. Looks like we'll have to look for a need app despite having customized the layout to our needs.

App is broken... developers have not fixed the app. We've lost a day and a half in sales... very disappointed and the lack of urgency shows the lack of customer care.

I've had a great experience with BoxBuilder. It works really well for my build your own gift boxes. I like the wide selection of features and options, they're all are quite logical and easy to set up yourself. When I've struggled on my own, the Support team has been helpful and quick. The layout on my site looks professional and is easy to navigate for my customers.
