The app has been great until very recently, I thought the issue was fixed but now it randomly doesn't full-fill orders and I am having to send our manual links, it's generating a few complaints from customers and I am looking into an alternative.

UPDATE: The update in October 2022 is a visual mess, if I'm being honest. There's so much information presented for individual files now, that it's almost overwhelming scrolling through everything. It's especially bad if you have more than one file attached to a listing (i.e., variations); you can barely tell where info on one file ends and the next file starts. The previous version was super simple, and I honestly prefer the old streamlined look. ORIGINAL REVIEW: It does what it's supposed to do and so far has worked flawlessly for my shop. I am grateful it's free and am extremely grateful the storage is unlimited. I do wish there was an option for downloads to be available within the customer's order history page, and/or to be able to turn off the auto-generated email this app kicks out. (Shopify sends the regular order confirmation email, with a link to the download page, then this app sends a second email with a link to the files. Together, they're redundant, and the customer gets 2 emails with every order placed. This app's email is so plain and generic that it's almost embarrassing. I wish I could opt in or out.) Overall, this app is the only reason I'm able to sell on Shopify and branch off from Etsy, so I'm very, very happy with it! Thank you, developers!
Stopped working in December 2021. Cannot add new files! Waiting for support! Pretty easy to setup! I had no idea when I migrated from WEEBLY that my digital downloads DID NOT migrate.
DOES NOT WORK ON MOBILE - have to direct customers to download from a computer constantly. Make this work on mobile and it would be great, make it possible to attach multiple files and it would be fantastic.

Ive been using this app since the beginning of my shopify store and couldnt operate without it. Ive had very few issues in the past years and recommend for anyone selling PDFs or other digital content.
Really nice app that I had problems with, at first, but support was first rate and to my rescue! (it was my fault). Have been using for quite a while and would recommend!
Installed and so far so good. But you apparently have to delete the "download" file before you remove the associated product...
You can only upload 1 digital file. Most of my clients can not download the attached file. I have to switch to another app.
pelvi.com have been using Digital Downloads for a year, it's a great free app if you want to offer eBooks.
It has worked well for me so far. I have about 50 digital products (I sell watercolor clipart packs) and so far I have had no issues. I've had this app for about 6 months so far and so far so good. Thank you!
We just use it for free e-books (downloads). Works great! Easy to implement and customers get what they want.
I have mixed feelings with this app. It's great that it's free and it does the job (recommended for e-books) you can set download limit to discourage illegal forwarding, BUT the limit what causes the trouble. I get customer complaints every day that the download button didn't work and because they tried clicking on it many a few times, they exceeded the limit. They didn't actually download the file but the app thinks they did. This might be a device issue on their end but it's definitely something the developers should look into. Setting the limit to unlimited still causes them negative customer experience because after they pay for a product, they get a download button that either works or not. If this issue gets fixed, I'll give 5 stars immediately!
It worked for a while and it works well if you have very few orders during the day. In case of release of products and high traffic, the download does not start and the email with the link arrives after 48 hours. My file was 1Mb. After this I had another issue that does not make sense: the app marked as fulfilled an order that included both a product to be shipped and a digital download.
Won't even open the App dashboard on Safari. I've cleared all cookies etc, nothing. Waste of time.

Since we have already done all of the basic troubleshooting needed and it is still not working, I will go ahead and send this up to our technical team so they can check on what could have happened. Once I have received an update from them, I will immediately send you an email. Thats the end of story.... This app is not safe fr your store, too many problems without solutions..
LOVE IT and easy to use (for me &) for my customers for free digital files and paid digital files. DEFINATELY worth having!
This is great! Works a treat! The only reason why it didn't get 5 stars is the email to download the file is butt-ugly and can't be modified. Other than that - this is AWESOME!!!!!

I want to love this app. And for awhile, I did. I've been using it for a few years now. But recently, somehow my digital products are having the "this is a physical product" field mysteriously checked in the admin product pages. I am NOT making this change. It's some glitch. And you know what happens when that field gets checked? The Digital Downloads app deletes your file- without you knowing. Until, that is, your customers complain that that they never received the download link for the product that was blatantly described as an "instant download." To them, it feels like a bait and switch. And I have no doubt that this glitch is affecting my conversion rates, because once a customer goes to checkout, if the file has been deleted by the app, it tells them that their "download" product will be delivered in 6-8 business days! Hello, abandoned carts. I continue to work with support to get this issue resolved. So far, nothing has worked. Am I the only one experiencing this glitch?
