Well, I have not sent an email yet. But syncing with shopify was really smooth and easy. So, I have hope that everything else will be as smooth. And its free.

After my initial comment, Shopsync support contacted me and provided instructions on how to resolve the issue. Short answer, use Force Sync after attempting to just clear the browser cache. So my problem is resolved. Original comment below: I'm new to ecommerce and I'm just setting up my store and integrations. One App I've installed is ShopSync to keep customer info synchronized with my Mailchimp account. It appears that after the initial sync of customers that expressed interest on the store password page, further customers have not been sync'd. There are 59 new customers since the initial sync that are in the Shopify customers that are not migrated to Mailchimp. I have gone through the troubleshooting, including changing to using Chrome with all browser data cleared. Isn't this supposed to be a background process that links my Shopify store and my Mailchimp account? What does my browser have to do with it? I haven't done a forced sync as that is discouraged. Any advice on how to get this working?

Easy to use but double opt-in doesn't seems to work. Even if activated, the users are automatically subscribed without confirmation.

I have mostly enjoyed using this app and it is very helpful to be able to keep using Mailchimp. However this app has one huge flaw. I have learned after a year of using it, that it unsubscribes your most engaged followers and purchasers when they purchase from your store. That is unless they re-tick your receive emails button. Why would a customer who knows they receive your emails sign up again? I wouldn't do that...we all want smaller inboxes these days and so you would not do it. We use Mailchimp so our customers will have used a double opt in at sign up and they also have an unsubscribe button with each marketing email they receive. I think we cover the issue correctly, so it seems that this is over zealous interpretation of the situation. So as it stands I may lose the ability to contact customers who have previously signed up for our emails because of this system. I have seen other comments on this topic in the reviews. Please help Shopsync, thank you as your app is moslty great but this is really affecting our ability to communicate with regular purchasers and it takes way less money and time and effort to covert someone who has previously purchased from us. We are advised to concentrate on selling to existing customers as well as new ones. Thank you so much!
Hi there, thank you for the feedback. The problem here is more complicated than it seems with repeat customers. When Shopify sends the order to us via their API, we can only see their marketing status at the time of the most recent checkout. We have to take that as "the truth" at that moment and apply logic to the submission into Mailchimp. We would hope that repeat customers would always want to remain opted in, but obviously, that's not realistic. For example, maybe a customer signs up for a promo and decides on their next checkout, they no longer want to be on your list. Unfortunately, there's no great way for us to know what the customer's intentions are other than taking what Shopify gives us at that time. The happy medium in this situation is to mark them as Transactional in Mailchimp if they do not opt-in at checkout the next time around. That way, you can still trigger abandoned carts, order updates, etc. We made this update in December of last year. You can see version v1.1.4 rolled out on the 20th that now works in the manner described on our changelog: https://shopsync.io/changelog. If it's permitted in your country, you could consider pre-selecting the opt-in box. You would need to check with your local regulatory agencies to see if that's something that is allowed.

I love MailChimp and I am glad to have ShopSync that allows me to continue using MC. Great app. great support. Highly recommend it

I use this app to sync to Mailchimp. It does a great job except that new subscribers no longer appear in Shopify. I didn’t realize I was getting new subscribers until I logged into Mailchimp

I thought my installation was done with Mailchimp since Mailchimp dissapeared from Shopify, but I just click on the ShopSync app and shows it is not connected. A message with "Temporary Installation Cookie Must Be Set Your browser is preventing the installation of ShopSync. A temporary cookie must be set by clicking here." comes up, but after clicking and refreshing nothing happens and the app still does not work. Please help UPDATE: The problem was solved and it was indeed related to the browser. Thank you!
Hi Stona, thank you for the feedback. We saw your review and it sounds like your issue may be related to a browser caching issue or just a temporary problem with Shopify's app store. We'd suggest clearing your cookies/cache or trying another browser entirely. If the problem persists, don't hesitate to contact us for further troubleshooting at [email protected].

Basic functionality works well - I've not had it installed long. They do keep spamming asking for reviews though, with no way to unsubscribe.
Hi there, thank you for using ShopSync. We apologize for any hassle with communications coming your way that you did not want to receive. If you would like to opt-out from these, simply click the Disable button next to ShopSync Communications inside the app.

I had some trouble getting ShopSync to connect with my store at first. I decided to give up & try again the next day. It worked perfect the second time I tried. I was using the same tablet, internet connection, etc both times, so I'm guessing it was just a glitch or something the first time. Once I got it connected with my store & mail chimp, I was able to quickly & easily export my mailing list from Shopify to Mail Chimp. This is the perfect way to be able to continue using Mail Chimp with Shopify, & I'm so grateful to have this app.

I used it to connect my mail chimp account and worked good. I been using it for three weeks, so there might be some features that I havent try at this time

Quick and easy to install and seems to be working 90%. I did notice that my Shopify pop-up form no longer worked after installing this update (customers were not receiving my automation emails), but the other forms on my website seem to working the same as usual. Would definitely recommend this app as a solution to for the Shopify X Mailchimp breakup.

First time Mailchimp user and didn’t realise that Mailchimp has parted way with Shopify. Luckily Shopsync is available to enable Mailchimp availability to my Shopify store. So far so good.

So far so good. I had some problems setting it up, but the ShopSync team was much more helpful than Mailchimp's team. The app seems to do what it says it will do and I haven't had any problems once I've been up and running

Needed this since Shopify won’t connect to MailChimp. Connected to mailchimp and imported my customers. Got the job done.

We were forced to migrate from the native MC integration like everyone else. Good for a free tool and that has to be appreciated. Still, migration led to a lot of unwanted emails being triggered. They cover this in their documentation and provide a way to probably avoid this, but in the end, it did not work for us. The cause being a MailChimp bug I hope this will be resolved soon as we currently have to put many extra hours to check on campaigns.
Hi there, we saw your review and wanted to get in touch to clarify the comments around the migration process and unwanted emails going out. We're sorry if you had that happen, but we've tried to make it clear on what to expect before installation. The issues around triggering welcome emails is a confirmed Mailchimp bug with internal timestamps that we do not have control over. It is not a result of anything we've engineered incorrectly in the ShopSync app. We hope you enjoy using ShopSync, please let us know if you need additional help. We can be reached anytime at [email protected].

The app does what it says with quickly syncing your MailChimp account, but you will need to remake all of your automated/ongoing emails.

Wow that was easy. Imported all contacts and Mailchimp still functions just like it did before. Only thing, I'm not sure if I remove the Mailchimp app or leave it. Great app! Saved me time & effort!
Hi there, thanks for your review. You'll want to remove the legacy 'Mailchimp for Shopify' app after ShopSync is installed to avoid conflicts under the hood with automations and e-commerce data. Disconnecting is very easy and it's best done through the Shopify app store. After your automations are migrated, just follow these steps: 1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps 2. Locate the 'Mailchimp for Shopify' app, and click the garbage can. 3. Click delete and you're done!

So far so good... still cross-checking it every day. We changed over a few days early (and only after reading the instructions numerous times!) The sync went smoothly and updated into a different existing audience list that we specified. After 7 hours of sync, it was complete and I ran a couple of dummy name tests to verify that it was updating correctly. I wanted a merge field of 'Postal Code' but apparently this will only work for a 5 digit zip code, not a 4 digit postcode.

I used this app to help with Shopify and MailChimp no longer being directly compatible. I saw a few issues people had had with implementing this app so I did my homework. After comparing apps, reading all the FAQs, and verifying some things with the VERY helpful support staff, I synced up and am now all good. I was confused initially thinking I could only have one list. Not so, only one list can be synced, which has always been the case with MailChimp. Great step by step install instructions. The only confusions were with just how easy the switch-over to this app was.

Installation and syncing was quick and easy, however, instructions weren't very clear on how to make sure everything from Mailchimp was working properly. Having read previous reviews of unwanted emails being re-sent to customers, so I took the following steps which seemed to eliminate all problems, I haven't encountered any other issue so far: 1) Sent out an email to my entire list with a notice of email update, letting them know to ignore any emails they may receive in the next few days. 2) Paused all current campaigns in Mailchimp and cleaned up my email list - I deleted all those who unsubscribed, just in case any unwanted emails are sent to them. 3) Install Shopsync 4) Check the queue in each of the paused campaigns. I found 10 people added to the onboarding queue who were previous subscribers and had already received the onboarding emails before. 5) I wasn't sure how to remove these people from the queue, so I duplicated my onboarding campaign and archived the old one. The new one had a refreshed queue so there were no unwanted subscribers in there. 6) Re-activated all my campaigns, including an abandoned cart email. 7) Deleted Mailchimp app in Shopify 8) Logged into Mailchimp > Account > Connected Sites and realised that the pop-up form and abandoned cart emails were not activated for some reason. 9) Manually clicked on "Add" next to each one. I had to make a new abandoned cart email in order to have it added to Shopsync, after which I archived the old one. 10) Tested my website in incognito mode and everything worked fine - pop-up form now showed up properly and abandoned cart email is running too. P.S. I did get about 50 new contacts added to my list after syncing, most of them are paying customers, and they did not appear to be duplicates, so I'm still baffled why they weren't on the list before.
