Terrible!! Embedded codes on my entire website and my website is down for the whole day already.

We understand Shopify support has given the impression that the issue you were experiencing with your checkout is related to our app, and the code that we have in your theme. That same code has been in your theme unchanged since December 2022, and the nature of the issue you are experiencing does not relate to any function Shogun touches on. Near impossible to remove their code from your site if you don't want to use it. interface is much more clunky than they'd have you believe. Don't recommend.

It looks like my colleagues tried to help with this via email and have requested some help from your end. We need to collab access code to send the collab access request so we can check your theme files and help remove the code. I want to let you know that when you uninstall our app, the code remains in the theme to ensure your pages that you edited and published with Shogun continue to work live. However, if you are not looking to use the app, we recommend reverting any imported pages before you uninstall to ensure they work. I see you had 19 pages in Shogun and simply deleting the code would cause issue where the pages may lose the CSS or the formatting. Having said that, our team provided with the detailed instructions on how to remove the code, and have even offered to help further by deleting the code for you. We request you check the email thread and help us with the collaborator access code so we can send the request and check the theme files for you. I am not sure what felt clunky as I don't see any other support thread about the same. if you were facing an issue you could have shared the feedback with our team and we would have been happy to assist you. I only installed this app hoping to find a way how I can use this app for our website but there is no trial to find out and you have to pay right away to use the app. However, on the back end the app installed various code to my theme without me using the app. As a result and because of their permissions to be able to change pages, some of my pages have been completely removed of text. Uninstalling the app and will never use it again. Suggest PageFly app instead.

I am sorry to hear about the issues that have led to this 1 star review for our app. I was looking at your account, and I have a few things that I would like to clarify. 1 - We offer 10 days of free trial on all our plans. When you select the trial, Shopify will proceed with the authorisation of the upcoming/recurring monthly charges. This happens when you select the plan to trial. That doesn't mean you will be charged right away. You can uninstall the app before the 10-day free trial period to cancel. 2 - Any app that is installed will add some code to the theme to ensure it functions correctly. The same happens with Shogun. When you install the app, Shogun adds minimal code to ensure you can create or edit pages. This is normal behavior. However, you can always remove the code using our detailed guide if you are not looking to use the app. I see you imported 2 pages to us, and you will see the Shogun code in the theme. 3 - I am not able to locate any support conversation under your email address about these issues. Our team is more than happy to assist you if you have any doubts or questions. I see you refer to some of your pages having issues due to Shogun where the text is removed. If you could provide the example pages along with the screenshot of what text is removed, our team will be happy to check. BTW, I want to let you know that installing Shogun doesn't cause such issues, but we can only check when we have an example. It is very bad to use. After uninstalling it, it added a bunch of unnecessary template files to my website, which I cannot delete.
Hey there, Jason. While we appreciate the feedback, I want to let you know that I found no support interaction about this. If you have any questions or doubts about the same our support team would have answered them and also guided you in the right direction for how to remove Shogun code. Every app or a page builder app will require some additions to the theme in order for the app and the pages or the content to function. Shogun adds minimal files or code and that is to ensure your pages continue to work when the app is uninstalled, this is expected behavior. But, you can always follow the steps to remove the code without causing any issues. As suggested, I don't see any support interaction from your end. You installed the app 6 days ago and uninstalled. You have to pay $250 a month to edit product pages... what a rip off.
Hey there, Gary. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I was trying to locate a support conversation you had with our team, but I wasn't able to locate one. Please correct me if I am wrong. You don't have to pay $250 a month to edit product pages. The ability to edit product pages is available on all our plans, including the $39 a month plan. I am not sure where you read that, but that clearly looks like some sort of misunderstanding. I see you installed our app on March 12, 2025 and did not even select a plan to start the trial to test the app. You uninstalled the app a day later. However, if you had any doubts about the plans or what features they offer you can always reach out to our support team. Our team is always available and happy to clear any confusion or doubts you may have. You have uninstalled the app, but if you want to try it again with the $39 a month plan and check if you are able to edit product pages or not please do let us know. Thanks. Don’t even deserve 1 star uninstalled this after the free trial and still charge me
Hi there, Thanks for sharing the feedback in the form of this review. I am sorry to hear that you feel you were charged after the free trial. I would like to share some details about this, even though it looks like my colleague from the support team has already explained this. You installed Shogun back in April 26, 2024. We offer 10 days of free trial and if the app is not uninstalled the monthly charges start automatically. Our app wasn never uninstalled. It looks like you decided to close your store with Shopify on July 14, 2024. While the store was closed, the app was never uninstalled. Shopify suggests uninstalling any apps with monthly recurring charges to ensure you are not charged in the future. This is because if you reopen your store, the monthly charges for apps with recurring monthly payments will start automatically. You reopened you store again on February 8, 2025 and when the store was reopened you were charged under normal behavior for how app charges work with the fact that the app is installed and active. The billing cycles are controlled by Shopify. You uninstalled the app on February 8, 2025, which canceled the subscription and you reached out to our support team yesterday, March 13, 2025. This is when our team explained the charges and as an exception, processed a refund for the 2 charges you highlighted. This is expected behavior for app charges and how billing cycles work when you close/pause and then reopen the store without uninstalling the apps with recurring monthly charges. I have reached out to you via email to explain this and if you have any questions or doubts I will be happy to answer them for you. I will look forward to hearing back from you. Once you use Shogun you're locked in. They have repeatedly changed features and changed their pricing which results in broken pages, missing features that we once had, and difficulties site wide. Customer support is slow to respond. You guys suck.

While we change our plans' pricing and add new features, necessitating shuffling features to different plans, we never take features off of users, nor do we force you onto new plans. Once the app is persistently installed, you've always got to keep the feature set you are familiar with. Pages, therefore, will not spontaneously break. As I understand, the features that were missing were found to be still available, only slightly moved in the UI with the editor design refresh. Customer support is available 24/7 through email, where we aim to respond to every email within 24 hours, and live chat, where we can be reached most hours within a couple of minutes. I know we were chatting recently about this, and if you have any specific queries not addressed in our more recent interaction, please reply to that same thread or reach out to our team, and we'd be more than happy to assist you. However, as you may have noticed, we have been focusing on expanding our offering to include core optimization features, including AB Testing, Targeted Experiences (personalize content to audience), SEO tools for keyword discovery, AI-assisted blog generation, and page performance monitoring. Candidly, if you’re looking solely for a “page build” function, we may not be the best-fit solution. Don't use this app. Find something else. The app worked fine until they moved all the standard features to only be available in higher plans. Image quality is an issue now on the main plan. They want you to jump from $39/month to $99/month. Embarassing for a SaaS company to act this way. I hope a lot of people cancel and move to more affordable competitors.

I had a look to double-check and found that Image Quality Settings haven't historically been available on the Build plan and weren't moved up when we implemented the current plans. This hasn't been specifically raised as an issue before; still, we're taking this feedback and are looking at retroactively granting the capability to the current 'Build' plan, given the new price point. Regarding the price increases - a big part of this is related to significant changes to our product and company. We were a “page builder” for a long time; however, we’ve expanded our offering to include core optimization features, including AB Testing, Targeted Experiences (personalize content to audience), SEO tools for keyword discovery, AI-assisted blog generation, and page performance monitoring. While the entry plan has increased, we’ve also added features, including our AI page designer, AI text generation features, and grid-based editing. We also increased the page limit on our entry plan to 50 pages and removed page limits for any plan higher than entry. While there are cheaper alternatives, if you’re looking to build and optimize your shopping experience, we are still quite budget-conscious compared to most AB testing, personalization, and SEO software providers. Being forced up upgrade to a $100 plan is ridiculous. I laterally just need to update 1 page but rather than pay the original $40, i'll be paying $0 and going someplace else.

Looking at the account I see Shogun was uninstalled on July 25, 2023. This is when your account was subscribed to our old plan. That old plan was a legacy plan that had been deprecated a long time ago. As the app was uninstalled, this legacy plan got canceled as well. You reinstalled Shogun again on November 16, 2023 and our pick-a-plan page displayed the new plans that can be activated which would be the expected behavior. I could not locate a recent support conversation about the questions you may have had with respect to the plans, but I have reached out to you via email to share more information. I'd give 0 stars if I could Shogun is slow and you have to update a page manually one at a time. It's extremely painful to make any changes, let alone make a single small change across all pages. The app has decided to double its costs recently, making it completely prohibitive for any business trying to scale. SUMMARY: SAVE YOUR MONEY, HIRE A DEV, OR USE ANOTHER APP. You will simply get no value in this app

I wasn't able to locate a conversation with respect to the slowness you were facing, but our features such as bulk publishing, theme sections, and global snippets are used by our users to make changes across multiple pages. Having said that, we do change and update the pricing for our plans, which is normal behavior. Your account was subscribed to our legacy plan and that plan is no longer offered. We don't force our users to move away from their grandfathered legacy plans. However, if you uninstall or reinstall the app, the legacy plan will be lost. This is something our support team explained further via email. There isn't a way to activate that deprecated plan again. I see you have since uninstalled the app, however, I also see you had been installed for a while with us and I apologize if you felt there was no value. No actual free plan, you're tricked into downloading it only to be brought to a page to give them money. Can't even see if their templates might be fit for my store, not a super good business model to say you can try it out for free when you're instantly hit with a paywall. That's definitely a false advertising move.

We do offer a Free plan which is available for users and stores who are installing Shogun for the first time as the plan is more of a way to test the app and the editor. However, looking at your account, I see our app was installed 3 months ago, on 2023-05-09 and the Build plan was activated. The app was then uninstalled and reinstalled again on August 1, 2023, which is why you didn't see the Free plan option since the Build plan was the last plan activated on the account. It's imperative that they ditch the 'Free Plan' option. It allows you to build pages without limit but it's useless because you can't actually do anything practical with them. As someone else mentioned it's like a game with no practical use. It's clearly a crude marketing ploy to lull you into doing so much set up work that when it's time to press go, there's nothing you can do. Lots of time wasted and the minimum cost is too restrictive for small businesses. Cheers lads.

Steer clear! Take a close look at the TOS before you install this and be sure you have a lawyer explain the terms to you. Understand that even though you buy this app to build your web pages, you will continue to pay a monthly fee for as long as you use those pages you built. Don't think you are going to build the pages and then delete the app, doesn't work that way. If you build one page and use it for 4 years, it will cost you 4 years worth of the subscription! And if you decide to delete the app, your work will be trashed! Since you are no longer paying for the app, you can no longer use the pages you built! Isn't this a great app!

While our app subscription is monthly, you are not bound to keep the app installed in case you are finished with the design of the pages and have published them, or in case our app is no longer required. You can always uninstall the app and this cancels the subscription. When you uninstall the app, your live page will continue to work on your store. However, we don't recommend editing the pages outside of the app to avoid parity issues where the pages need to be republished within Shogun again to fix the parity issues. I noticed that our app was uninstalled on February 23, 2023, however, I wasn't able to locate any previous conversation with respect to the issues you are facing with your pages. We have been using PageFly until we ran into some site speed issue and decided to try this app. Although the drag and drop option is slightly easier than that of Pagefly, overall features are pretty much the same and won't explain the price difference. However, the worst part is that in our mobile version visitors cannot click on the products and our ticket has been left unattended for a week now, and counting. No one responds to even multiple update requests--let alone a solution. From the onboarding agent to support agents, all the parties are included in all 3-4 mails and no one cares to answer or write a word about it. We receive 80% of our traffic from mobile, and basically visitors are unable to view our products. We NEVER experienced such a technical problem left in the dark with Pagefly. Regardless the problem they always fixed it in a day or less. Just a food for thought for your decision process...
